vaurca Noobetski - Vaurca application
Cinderpower replied to Cinderpower's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Thank you for your application, and your interest in the species. I have a few questions I'd like to ask: 1. Could you elaborate further on why you would like to play a Vaurca? Vaurca have a very interesting change of mentality from other species, working in a very different social hierarchy. Hivenet/VR (and it's time dilation) impact on the individual specimens also provides very interesting implications and venues for roleplay. 2. How openly does Kiis express their Zo'raphile Restorationist views? I would say it depends on the people it's speaking to. If it is surrounded by those who do not understand the basis behind this ideology and are "lost cause" it will most likely stay quiet in their presence - partially to not spark needless conflict and partially because it would be quite pointless. They would also, most likely, downplay the importance of zo'ra in presence of an average zo'ra akaix to not fuel their baseless (as they are not Ta) superiority complex. They would very much like to discuss it with people open for constructive debates. 3. How does Kiis view the other K'lax queens? Has the War in Heaven changed any of these opinions? All queens warrant request. While it may not consider them as important as Leto, they no less serve valuable purposes, otherwise they would not be in power. War in Heaven did not make it consider any queen any less important than it was before, as it is obvious that wars, vr or not, are always inevitable and existed for as long as vaurca did. A sad and inseparable part of hives' lives. It is happy, at least, that the peace between the queens lasted so long before. 4. How has Kiis personally been affected by the Phoron Scarcity? Not much more than anyone else. Mostly everything becoming more expensive which results in lesser margin to send to the hive cell which is sad and probably more fuel for the anxiety for the future of Leto's mission when everything becomes so costly, exploration and extraction of vaurcan artifacts and ancient knowledge will have to stop temporarily to route resources to simple survival. 5. How does Kiis view and interact with other species, especially Unathi? If we take purely racial component alone, it would consider them fleeting and somewhat primitive as they lack the blessing of VR afterlife and deep databanks of immense uncountable information and technology assembled over the centuries. It would have more respect for the skrell as they are much more knowledgable due to their naturally longer lives and the nlom (which /very remotely/ can resemble something of a natural hivenet to a vaurca i would assume) but the overall sentiment would be the same as they are still mortal (they are not aware of the elegies that some skrell are capable of performing). This would be the reason for the condescending and belittling opinion of the alien species. When communicating with them, however, it would try to look as respectful as it can to reduce the chance of conflict unless it is a very rare circumstance where conflict can help them in analyzing the alien specimen in question more. -
BYOND Ckey: Noobetski Discord username: jaundice_cyber_pilot Character names: Nupta Xoio, Harrod Burns, Eliot Isemann Species you are applying to play: Vaurca ------------------------------ General Whitelist Requirements What colour do you plan on making your first alien character?: (RGB 0, 80, 60) Have you read the lore pages for the species you wish to be whitelisted for?: Yes Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this species?: Vaurcae provide an interesting departure from a normal gameplay, both IC and OOC wise. What makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a human?: Vaurca (even unbound) are indoctrinated to serve the hive from birth, acces and intertwining of their life with VR also provides a big difference in their perception of time and reality and makes them quite unique from other species. Another difference comes from their upbringing as a species very reliant on their augments to the point of being ashamed of the pre-augmentation era of their species and anything to do with it. ------------------------------ Character Application Character Name: Ka'Akaix'Kiis K'lax Write a backstory for your character. This may include their origin, education, personality and how they arrived to the SCCV Horizon. Stemming from Ta’Akaix’Leto’yahkt’zor K’lax brood on Tret, it was born to be an anomalist from the egg stage with its VR education mostly being focused on the thinking part of the xenoarcheology rather than unearthing (though, obviously, it is capable of doing it should the bound be unavailable in remote excavation/exploration sites). From a young age it was very active in VR which later developed into it becoming a delver as a hobby and its fanaticism with the realms, forgotten and not so much, to the point of even entering vibrations from time to time when it is not delving or working in real space. Seeing SCCV Horizon as great opportunity to complete its purpose of progressing hive's knowledge and potentialy even finding augmentation era artifacts that drifted through space for ages, it was employed as NanoTrasen xenoarcheologist of SCCV Horizon with the help of Vaurca Office of Administrative Services. Due to Leto's brood influence, the shyness relating to pre-augmentation era of vaurcae does not hit it as much. While it would be very offended and defensive when accused of such heinous activities, it is not ashamed of watching such due to desensitization relating to being heavily invested in vaurca history (in the same way doctors are not affected by seeing blood as much as an average person would). In general, it's personality can be described as inquisitive and curious, if somewhat obsessive and single-minded, though not to a viax degree, more of a workaholic type of deal. When interacting with others it would be described as kind of a reserved nerd unless the topic discussed relates to history in some way, in which case it would talk about it all day if it is not stopped. It is also fascinated with cephalons as a phenomena and inspired greatly by Za'Akaix'Lot K'lax, hoping to become an archivist itself upon reaching afterlife. How has the recent events of the Orion Spur impacted your character? Events such as the Phoron Scarcity, the Solarian Collapse or even the Invasions of Biesel for interstellar-wide affairs, while region-specific events such as the Peacekeeper Mandate, The Titan Rises or even Cold Dawn may impact your character. Recents events have definetly sparked its interest, though not without fear and anxiety. Phoron Scarcity is something vaurca have been thinking about ever since exodus and the impure phoron use in the hiveships, while Solarian Collapse's magnitude can be seen similar to The Decline of Zo'ra and interstellar war to great hive war. The history does not repeat, it rhymes, something it knows. A special place is reserved for the War in Heaven. Being very active in VR, it can see what it is doing to the whole system, causing a lot of strain and instability in the realms due to the sheer magnitude of Xathul Xon. Seeing the whole thing as completely detrimental to the Hives, it is very against the new method of hivenet warfare. Being a historian traditionalist, Zo'raphile Restorationism is what they believe to be right, seeing Hegemony as nothing but a "crutch" to survive through the times of chaos and misery. How does your character view the megacorporation they work for? Not much more than a tool to achieve the agenda. Should the corporation's views start diverging from the focus of research and exploration, it would no longer be interested in this cooperation. But that did not happen... /yet/.

Noobetski - Skrell application
Cinderpower replied to Cinderpower's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Hello - Does Ormish have a favorite food? Do they ever try foreign foods or stick to what they know? I think their food of choice even abroad would still be Jyalra due to ease of creation and, thus, easier time requesting it from the kitchen (there is not much you can do to ruin mashed dyn of all things skrellian). They would try foreign food if offered if it's soft enough but won't show initiative. - What do they do for leisure? Have they ever watched Swimstars and, if so, who's their favorite character? As mentioned before, they practice Sqai'Tzi to help with their mental state and psionics; they are also active on the Viv-ID. They are very curious about human media, more so as a source of cultural knowledge than the actual plots or aesthetics of the film or music, seeing stereotypisation and other similar storytelling techniques as a necessary simplifications of complexity that is foreign culture. Paradoxically, that is the reason why they did not really like Swimstars, though are able to engage in some surface level discussions about the show and are generally aware of the plot - the characters feel "artificial" to them is how i would put it, providing simplification where it is not needed as the skrell culture is obviously not foreign and is easier to understand from direct exposure. - Given the semi-recent happenings in the traverse (See The Warbling arcs), what is Ormish's view on the Traverse? How did these events shape their view of the Federation government? Federation's handling of the situation only bolstered trust in the strained government. They see actions of the terrorists hiding in Traverse as horrible and completely preventable and unnecessary. They would not feel safe traveling Traverse in it's current state, understanding that the government needs time and resources to expand their capabilities to cover the frontiers that spurred far beyond what post-glorsh state would be able to control. - Because their progenitors were more heavily affected by Glorsh than others, does this knowledge make them more afraid of IPC's, AI's, and Stationbound? What are their thoughts on the existence of such entities? I think that at the current point in time they will not be any more ai-phobic than your average Radiant Era skrell, simply due to their age and lack of experience. As they age (and especially as they form a Quaya and attempt offsprings in the far future), however, their view will be affected by the experience and realization of what future Glorsh robbed them of. Then they will grow much less lenient and maybe even project the hate of such tragedy onto the modern synthetics. At this age they think that synthetics are bad but they cannot do much about the issue, so they kind of stay quiet around the subject. - How has being amongst other species affected them? Are they afraid of them? Fascinated? Are any of particular concern to them? Interacting with such a diverse set of humans that is SCCV Horizon's crew, there is a little of everything. I think what they will grow to understand is that humans are much more than just their government, especially when it comes to people stemming from Coalition planets or frontiersfolk. Just as there are fascinating people such as those from New Gibson (especially considering how similar the planet is to Alios), there are foolish and frankly terrifying people of Axiom and trinary perfectionists in general, just as there are saddening people from Eridanian sewers to Biesel's overpopulated slums of refugees. - How heavily are they into Qeblak? Do they own divination cards to read the constellations when away from home? Did they ever aspire to become a Starpage? I would say they are pretty casual all things considered, placing work and personal curiosity above their religion. Living abroad did make them place more significance on the religious practices as a form of coping with stress associated with living outside of skrell federation. They do own divination cards and do perform readings on SCCV Horizon regularly. They never aspired to be a Starpage, partialy due to lower than average psionic capability and partially, of course, personal preference. -
BYOND Ckey: Noobetski Discord username: jaundice_cyber_pilot Character names: Eliot Isemann, Harrod Burns Species you are applying to play: Skrell ------------------------------ What color do you plan on making your first alien character?: #66FF00 Have you read the lore pages for the species you wish to be whitelisted for?: Yes Why do you wish to play this species?: Skrell provide an interesting venue of roleplay with their unique society, culture and history in relation to humans while providing interesting tools to initiate such rp. What makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a human?: Their point of view differs greatly from that of a human due to their longer lifespan (influencing their decision making towards longer term results rather than those in short term while also allowing for them to have much greater experience than that any human could ever achieve); culture of treasuring and making the most out of their children for they are few due to the sterilization of glorsch omega; and strict ranking of the society in general. ------------------------------ Character Name: Ormish Arqo'Es Write a backstory for your character. This may include their origin, education, personality and how they arrived to the SCCV Horizon. Born on Aliose in the year of 2395 into a hereditary tree affected by the sterilization to a more severe degree than usual, resulting in a relatively small Quaya of Qrri'Myaq, Qraa'Myaq and a single Myaq'Lak. Though that did not affect their Ukutanii too much as the Myaq'Lak was covering for the time Qrri'Myaq could not perform their duties. They were raised in traditions of Qeblak as were their progenitors. No matter the efforts of Quaya, their psionic potential would end up being classified as listener of mediocre level, though not to the degree of developing psionic stutters or anything of such order. Upon reaching Uyi’vesi, they, as many before, chose The Aliose University of Medical Science’s chemistry degree and, after this one, that of biology and anatomy. They were not a particularly strong student, not earning any headtail rewards, though they were not scrapping the bottom so to speak. Such results disappointed the family and since then it was a "tense point" of discussion. As a newly graduated skrell with an SCI of 5.89, they chose to partner with Zeng-Hu Pharmaceuticals per the university's program out of curiosity for the outer Orion Spur.. and employment benefits of course. Through this employment they found themselves on SCCV Horizon, in the ship's pharmaceutical division. In terms of personality i imagine this character to be not particularly outgoing (to non-skrell at the very least) but not recluse either. They will feel signs of "inhibition" due to underpopulated Srom and rare contact with other skrells. Trying to achieve deep rest meditation through their faith's practices, psionic training and elements of Sqai'Tzi, though to varying degrees of success. While i do not think it would impact my character economically more than any other person due to the increasing costs (not yet anyway), i think recent events would definitely undermine their faith in humanity and cause additional anxiety. While they may be disillusioned to the Sol Alliance's benevolence i think they would seek ways to help those of the humanity who can be reasonably helped. How does your character view the megacorporation they work for? Positively, seeing the corporation's line of work and cooperation with Nralak Federation as necessary and important.
