BYOND key: W3bster Character names: Ahren Hawkins, Webster Hawkins, Anthony Hawkins, Garen Hawkins, Rylan Hawkins. SOON : Hoshihito Horiguchi How long have you been playing on Aurora?: Exactly 15 days. Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: I wish to be on the whitelist due to my main character's (Ahren Hawkins) main field, which is Human Ressources (HOP). Due the whitelist, i have temporarily forced Ahren to become other roles, whilst justifying so ICly. But in general, i wish to gain the whitelist asset so that i may extend further my reach to the crew and act in my full abilities as a longtime roleplayer in the SS13 environment. Why did you come to Aurora?: First off, a little backstory on my SS13 career. It first began on Alium Deathtrap 13. An extremely niche server with only Extended, that had rounds that would go on for 7-12 hours. I remained there for a good few months, before internal staff turmoil and player abuse took it's toll on me and i had to find a new home. I decided to do a radical change of Roleplay level and headed to Paradise. After a little while as a Mentor, i became an Admin. That lasted a good two months. But due to internal management issues (Please PM if you require more information about this. Willing to keep the drama out of the public channels), i resigned. Willing to return to a peaceful, HeavyRP community, i made my way to the newly born Unbound Travels, hosted by SshAdo. Due Ssh holding conversations with me during BestRP's fall and Unbound's rise, i was able to blaze through the ranks and become a highly-positionned admin. Yet the community was fragile, and the Administration had issues. Ssh, in good faith, decided to halt hosting the server, due to much grief caused to many members of staff and members of the server alike. Jamie made thje decision to rehost the server. I tried being a part of that, but it was just not the same and the environment was different. I did not appreciate Unbound anymore. So i left SS13 for a good while. Now, having dealt with IRL issues, i am able to return to SS13. I have chosen Aurora as my new home station, as the community and staff appear highly welcoming and much less abusive that what i have seen on previous HRP stations. It's ruleset, mentality and roleplay style fits with what i want from a community. Hence me being here. Have you read the BS12 wiki on the head roles you plan on playing?: Yes Please pick one of your characters for this section, and provide well articulated responses to the following questions. Character name: Ahren Hawkins Character age: 54 Please provide a short biography of this character (approx 2 paragraphs): Born in 2404 to Dr. Elizabeth Fields, employed as a Medical Doctor by Nanotrasen and Alexander Hawkins, one of Nanotrasen's early Scientists, Ahren was raised in an environment that one could define as financially favorable, with a firm education accompanied by what some declared as a “Brainwash”. Everything around Ahren had the name Nanotrasen stapled to it, accompanied by both parents proudly chanting praises about the company and the happiness it brought them. They did, afterall, meet, date and proposed aboard the company’s facilities. Throughout his childhood and teenage hood, Ahren was able to get a firsthand account of the newfound species in the years of his growth into an adult. Influenced by his first relationships, Ahren underwent basic military training. Having failed the tests to join the Nanotrasen Security Forces, depressed and without morale, Ahren decided to serve a few years in the Sol Alliance’s Military wing. After which, he underwent higher studies in the field of Management, Law and Philosophy, motivated by early relationships. At age 31, Ahren was hired as an Internal Affairs Agent for Nanotrasen. After twenty years of accumulated stress, migraines, promotions and coffee addiction, Ahren had a breakdown which resulted in a temporary suspension from the Internal Affairs division. Meanwhile, Ahren has transferred to the Security division, working part-time Security. He underwent a year of Forensics Science and is currently holding the position of Investigator aboard the NSS Aurora. During the Board’s debate of Ahren’s misconduct in Internal Affairs, he requested the board review the possibility of a transfer to the position of Personnel Manager. The demand is currently being reviewed by the board. What do you like about this character?: Ahren is fully devoted to Nanotrasen, attached to it due to the fact that his family has grown alongside it. His devotion to the company allows for easier and faster decisions, as well as a backup plan to always fall to. Instinctively, should anything happen, i simply have to think as a devoted member and lover of Nanotrasen. What do you dislike about this character?: Due to Ahren being a running character for the past 1.5 to 2 years, there are a LOT of relations that he has obtained and maintained with crews from multiple stations (other lores). Hence, should someone import their character, i always have to work out with them what is a go and what is a no go. Due to this character also having been used during my Admin time on other stations, some may associate him with my Admin role and have a bias. What do you think makes this character fit to be a head of staff?: His experience, studies and knowledge are major contributing factors. His seniority in the company, alongside his parents's, may allow him to be much more comfortable in his position. His previous position in Internal Affairs has allowed him to get a firm grasp of the law as well as internal management of the company. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Roleplay is basically acting or performing something that may be defined as a role. In the SS13 context, we have to take the roles of crew members in a highly sophisticated, professional and serious environment. General chucklefuckery that may be allowed on other stations, may be prohibited or frowned upon on Heavy Roleplay Stations. The heavier the roleplay, the more serious one has to take their rule and duties. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: A head of staff is a catalyst to his designated department. they are there to take critical decisions in the round that will influence it's direct outcome. They may decide whether or not a player is taken out of the round, or in, depending on ongoing events in the round. Being the heads of their department, they are entrusted by the players of said department to provide suitable enjoyment to the round. A bit like the antag rules state to provide. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: The responsibilites of OOC whitelisted players is to uphold a high standard of Roleplay, manners and respect of the rules. Whitelisted players were specifically reviewed and accepted to fill certain roles deemed highly important to the fluidity of the round. To other players, they should be the shining example of how to behave. I would strive to uphold them by incurring a perfect application of the rules, great roleplay and amazing respect towards both the staff and playerbase. How would you rate your own roleplaying?: I would define my ability in roleplaying as better-than-average. My beginnings of Space Station 13 being on a hardcore roleplay-only environment has forced me to obtain this first hand. Although, at certain times, i may have a small lack in fluidity due to fatigue, boredom, ETC. Although most times i will attempt to do my best. I am always open to critisism, no matter the origin. Extra notes: Should you have any questions as to why i left staff on servers and/or the issues i had with servers, please hit me with a PM. I did not find fit the idea of bringing other servers's drama here.

Thank you for your comprehension. I have no issues with the staff member Tainavaa. Only the wording of said warning. As previously mentionned. I am sorry if i came off rude to any staff members during this incident. I thank all non-staff for chiming in, even though you did not partake to the event/adminhelping/complaint. I believe it is great to have some people help even the field, when the main staff involved uses the terms "closing in, and destroying the enemy" when they describe as to how they deal with such things. I believe that once the Warning is edited, the complaint may be closed. Thanks again.

" Furthermore, 'testing for mapping issues' is a fairly blatant lie, as you aren't a mapper" Now, let me clear something up. On previous servers with their own codebase, users could freely contribute by doing pull requests on Github. I did many of those on stations such as Paradise and Phoenix. I was under the impression it worked as such here, but apparently not. When i did the pull request, the Head of Development told me that i should not be doing that, but instead request on the forums and post issues on the Github ticket system. Of course, to each their own way of doing things. But that really wasn't clear. My sincere apologies for that. I did not intend and harm whatsoever. As a previous administrator on both Phoenix and Paradise, i know full well the bounds and limits, especially of Central. My goal was simply to help. But i understand that was wrong, and i should leave things alone and let the coders/mappers sort out the 73 github issues ticket themselves. Sorry for that again. Since i knew it would only get me in further trouble to keep arguing in Adminhelp about the situation, i decided to get in on the forums in the most relevant of areas in order to discuss the warning, which as Frances stated, i only wish to be edited so that in the future, if staff look at said warning, i am not taken as some random griffon whom once decided to blow open the admin armory for grief. I am sorry if i was not clear in the Original Post. But the goal of this is not to come at Tainavaa. I do not question their judgement, nor ability to moderate. If there was issues, they'd be long gone and i know that. The goal of this thread is simply to argue the fact that the warning did not include enough relevant information regarding the situation, and it's context. Thank you @Frances, @I_speak_money, for your inputs on this thread. It feels rather intimidating to be alone and have staff coming at you from every angle regarding a certain situation.

BYOND Key: w3bster Staff BYOND Key: Tainavaa Reason for complaint: First off, context. It was the end of a nuclear operatives round where i was the sole ERT member called. All operatives were dead, station was messed up and the crew transfer was on the way. I headed back to Central on my shuttle before the transfer due to the nuclear device being on it, and me willing to secure it. Once i arrived at central, with the last few minutes left of the round, i decided to look around. What stood out was the Admin Armory blast doors. About a year ago, when i was a Paradise Server Admin, we had such blast doors in our ERT area for the admin mechs. Now, one round, where staff were quite busy, ERT actually used C4 on that wall and took the mechs without our permission. Which ended up in a load of additional work on the admins and a few reprimands. So when i saw those blast doors to the Admin Armory, i thought they might have the same issue. Since the round was ending and i was 100 % certain it was going to disturb nothing, i was willing to attempt it. Since i am currently making a list of to-fix regarding mapping, that'd come in handy to know now. So i sent an Adminhelp requesting if i could test something. As minutes went by and the shift came close to end, i still had no replies. So i decided to go ahead. As soon as it blew up, i recieved an Admin message. Message was from Tainavaa, asking me why i did such. To which i replied the above, that i was testing out for mapping issues, and it was in fact an issue as the door blew up and i had access to the armory. To which they replied that i should of not done so, and that if there are no answers to my Adminhelp, that i take it as a "No". Knowing i was going to get more than an Ahelp for that, i decided to begin contesting that it was in fact for testing, it had No impact on the game whatsoever and i had no malicious intent. To which they did not care, and replied with the fact that "Antags can access central". Now, correct me if i am wrong, but blast doors to an "Admin Armory" are supposed to be proof of anything, Antags or ERT. So i believe that fact was completely unrelated and an invalid argument. Hence, i recieved the warning listed in Evidence. Which is why i am writing this complaint. I believe this warning is truly one-sided, and does not value the fact that i had nil intent to cause harm or malice. So if someone of the staff were at a later date to look at this warning, they would most probably believe i did so with malicious intent, and that would be quite severe. When i brought this up to Tainavaa, they simply stated that it did not matter. Evidence/logs/etc: Additional remarks: This is a broad overview of the situation. Logs were not gathered as it was end of round. For additional facts and verification, please look at the server's logs.
