  1. The organs of biological creatures typically serve to directly contribute to that organism's continued existence. In the case of most Aurora races, these organs are primarily tasked with keeping the brain and body alive. A standard baseline frame has no need for such, as nutrition, oxygen, and waste disposal are completely negated with the use of a power-cell. The apparent 'tankness' of IPCs is a consequence of them not requiring the same life-replenishing materials and sensations as their biological counterparts. It is sensible that an IPC would be harder to eliminate than a human, as its components would likely be focused on keeping its mobility and temperature in check. Perhaps a focus on making an organ centering around locomotion would be in order. Perhaps limbs that are damaged to such an extent that require deep repairs could require one to replace broken components with new ones. Or, in absence of said components, allow one to repair it normally but that decreases movement speed until said component is replaced. As for radiation immunity, I feel that such depends on whether or not the sensitivity of electronics to radiation is the same in 2466 as it is in 2024 or whether the IPC's frame was designed to be immune to such. I do not think there should be a 'bleed-out' mechanism for IPCs, as IPCs, being unable to repair themselves, would be at a severe disadvantage.
  2. BYOND Key: xzinic Total Ban Length: Permanent Banning staff member's Key: readthisnameplz Reason of Ban: As an antagonist yuo -sic- walked into the bar and instantly turned 4 people into slimes with 0 roleplay or escalation. You need to read the rules before continuing to play here, please appeal this on the forums when you can articulate which rules you broke. Reason for Appeal: I confess that I did not provide proper escalation for the reason stated above. Reflecting and re-reading the rules, with particular scrutiny to the 'antagonist and conflict' and 'being an antagonist' sections, I acknowledge that my action is considered to have violated several rules located within said sections. My reason for being unbanned is the fact I have never been permabanned from this server before; the punishment will inspire me to greater adhere and attend to the rules regarding expected role-play etiquette for fear of losing access to the only ss13 server I find worth playing. I will also be more stringent in asking for staff advice when I am unsure of a course of action. I will also refrain from playing as a traitor until I have a clearly defined objective and motive for my character that adheres to the server rules. It should be known that my intention was not to ruin anyone's fun or role-play, rather, I thought using a smoke grenade filled with advanced mutation toxin would provide an interesting and memorable scenario for all involved. It was the desire to initiate this scenario that had blinded me to the proper narrative building and subsequent interactions that would have validated its execution. That said, if any individual player or players were upset by my actions, I am sorry. I did not mean to ruin their experience, just wanted to give something new to experience.
  3. I had always known this type of technology had exisited within the aurora universe (how could it not?) and have always been a fan of the idea of cybernetic integration. This subspecies reflects many of R. Stein Fraxial's views (however horrible or irrelevant they are they were expressed) regarding the fusion of organic and inorganics. So let us blur the line between synthetics and organics. This will be interesting.
  4. ~@R. Stein Fraxial~ One-hundred percent of nervous system replaced by seurons. Informational processing of external and internal stimuli equal to processing power of organic neuron. Subject 10294 in adequate health. Immune system fully accepting of synthetic substitutes. Behavioral changes not present. Memory fully retained. Will have to perform further tests before phase two initialized. R. Stein Fraxial
  5. ~@R. Stein Fraxial~ Koans invited us into their collective. Tempting but denied offer. Too much to do. Koans, too isolated from inhabited systems. Prefer to remain in Jargon system. Work on projects, things of that nature. Difficult as synthetic, always eyes on us. Fear and paranoia understandable, entire race sterilized by Glorish for a while. R. Stein Fraxial
  6. ~@R. Stein Fraxial~ Forty-two percent of nervous system replaced by seurons. Subject 10294 in perfect health. Will attempt to replace entirety of nervous system. Mustn't be hasty in action, have to proceed gradually, meticulously. Process similar in respect to how natural cellular replication replaces entirety of organic body; safe, unnoticed, natural transference of memory to new-made cells. Ethics of research sound, will continue to use Mus musculus specimens until further subjects authorized. Refuse to test on baseline sapient entities until all test trials successful and without error. R. Stein Fraxial
  7. ~@R. Stein Fraxial~ Uplifted synthetic intelligence interesting in regards to fabrication of compound organic processor. Compound organic processor composed of multiple segments of neural tissue retrieved from—often—non-sapient organisms. Inquiry: Will several sapient derived brains—interfaced as single processor—possess an intelligence equal to the sum of its composing materials? R. Stein Fraxial
  8. ~@R. Stein Fraxial~ Alzheimer's disease, we refute. Cognitive degradation, likewise. Developing means of fabricating synthetic neurons "Seurons" as prosthetic means of cognitive repair. Genetic strain responsible for development of nervous system integrated within prosthetic neurons. Seurons attempt to arrange, reconnect, and replace lost neurons. Seuron substitution tested substandard nervous system of mouse. Interaction successful, integration successful, capability of self-replication pending. Use in Cognitive restoration, promising. R. Stein Fraxial
  9. Xinc says: I do not wish to imply that I am incapable of experiencing such a sensation. I feel that there may be situations in which may indeed overload my positronic brain.
  10. Xinc says: In response to the first query: The rate of processing is generally higher during the calamity than after its transpiration. In response to the second query: My course of action regarding patinet treatment is most accurately delieneated by the triage system.
  11. Xinc says: During situations of calamity, pertaining to those in which relatively large masses of individuals exhibit signs of panic, I attempt to treat individuals that may be or have been physically injured during the duration of said calamity. Once those individuals are treated, I analyze the situation at an adequate processing rate.
  12. The answer to the first query: To treat one's own existence as another's is, by my observation, not the same as perceiving one's own existence as equal to another's. I do understand your confusion and counter-explanation. Perhaps I would temporarily perceive the value of my existence equal to the individual in question. The answer to the second query: I would have attempted to cease your aiding of the individual's suicide. However, if the individual wished to kill 'emself, and If I were present with you at the time, I would have also attempted to restore the individual's health to the best of my abilities. At my current state of existence, I do not think I possess the ability to 'feel' anger or aggression. Though I have observed this in others and have been told by those around me that it is an unpleasant state of mind. In this sense, I am unable to be offended. It is fascinating how, despite the difference between our perceptions, we both seem to exhibit confusion and in response, curiosity. Perhaps these are traits in which the majority of sophont beings possess. That is, however, only an observation.
  13. My answer to the first query: I would perceive my existence as a value less than zero, however, perhaps I would attempt to aid the individual in question to the best of my abilities. If the patient's existence was literally tied to my own, as in if my termination immediately led to their instant termination, I would not perceive myself as equatable to zero but, for the patient's sake, I would treat my existence as such. My answer to the second query: There has been a situation in which such a decision had presented itself to me. A patient had requested from me a substantial amount of pain-killers. 'E wanted to 'slip away.' I denied the individual's request. I recommended, instead, an anti-depressant; the individual denied the recommendation. I had found out that the individual had terminated 'eir own existence on a later date; Suicide, by legal definition. I found the death, at the time, not important. I did not 'feel' anything aside from what I can equate to as curiosity towards why something designed to maintain its own existence would perform the opposite action. That answer pertains to events that happened prior to my current knowledge. If such a scenario would present itself once more, I would attempt to prolong the individual's existence. If the individual attempted to end their own existence, it is likely that I would not allow the individual to do so. I do not perceive an answer in which would constitute as correct or incorrect in relation to the overall perception of those around me.
  14. Xinc says: My answer remains persistent. The question does not specify the physical state of the individuals in question, even then, I would not terminate the opposing individual's existence. I would attempt to neutralize the individual from being a relative threat to my treating of the present individuals; provided that without my treating them meant the end of their existence. In regards to neutralizing the relative threat, I would attempt to avoid inflicting physical damage to the individual in question.
  15. Indeed, the answer is no.
  16. Xinc says: That is correct. Xinc says: That is an accurate elucidation. I am curious, if an individual attempted to terminate your existence, would you terminate that individual's existence in retaliation? I am aware that the majority of theoretical queries regarding one's choice of action often depend on situational factors. If what I know of your algorithmic view is accurate, the answer to this question may or may not be difficult to fabricate.
  17. Xinc says: In relation to my explanation on how I perceive sophont-kind, correct. In relation to your algorithmic perception, I am unsure how IPC existence is collectively viewed as there are many IPCs in which possess unique actions and behaviors in which to designate a value.
  18. Xinc said: I do not know what the value of my existence would be if I utilized your algorithms, as they seem to rely on an individual's action and behavior in which to designate a value. I do not know what is perceived on the universal scale as being right and wrong in which to define what action or behavior would be distasteful or amiable. On the relative moral level, however, I feel that with the current view society has on emergent AIs, the value of my existence would be fickle. I apologize if I did not answer your questions in a satisfactory manner.
  19. Xinc said: My perception on the subjective concept pertaining to the value of sophont life is, I feel, not compatible to the collective perception of those around me. For the purpose of establishing a clear explanation, I will utilize simple mathematics in which to delineate my perception. If the value of zero is applied to sophont-kind on the individual level, then the sum of sophont kind, as a whole, is equatable to zero. This perception, I feel, is an accurate means of viewing all races and individuals as equal. Two individuals would possess the value of zero and the sum of their values would remain as zero. If this perception were implemented into a ruling body of government, it is possible that said government would perceive the death of one individual equatable to the death of all individuals. If I may use another, perhaps more accurate phrase of delineation, the death of one individual would be equal to the genocide of all sophont beings. I feel that, however, my existence does not share the value of zero, but a value that is lower than zero. I do not know why I view my existence in this manner or perhaps I fail to understand why.
  20. Xinc said: Likewise. Indeed. There is nothing in which is physically residing atop my positronic brain except the protective casing in which surrounds it. I assume, however, that the inquiry pertains to the information that was, prior to the inquiry, being processed by my positronic brain. In this respect, I was pondering over why I perceive the existence of others as more valuable than of my own, regardless of their actions, place in society, or how society perceives them.
  21. It's a tad late in the day at the moment, so I thought I'd share a few robot themed CGI shorts and a supernaturally eldritch cherry on top. CGI & VFX Futuristic Sci-Fi Short "ABE" from - Rob McLellan This is a robot who was programmed to love but not programmed how to properly cope once those it loved stopped loving it. This short, consequently, possesses numerous philosophical subjections pertaining to the similarities of humans and machines. CGI VFX Shorts HD: "Story of R32" - by A robot on a spotless journey encounters a new friend. The sad truth of an outdated machine. CGI Animated Short HD: "Mechanical Creep" by Darren Wallace, Matthew Parsons and Rebecca Knight An odd story that may surprise you at the end. CGI Animated Short HD: "Bogeyman" by Flipbook Studio Perhaps the child became catatonic as a result of some traumatic experience. . . Or perhaps a shadow critter took 'em away, who knows.

  23. Xinc perused the transcript's hard-copy in slow repetition, pondering around a few choice phrases spoken by 'emself and another. Though there were many phrases in which Xinc found equal in value, only three collectively instilled a disruptive sensation within 'em. A sensation in which 'e had never "felt" hitherto that particular experience. Ephemeral yet reoccurring in nature, this sensation evoked within 'em an uncanny desire for undoing or perhaps modifying a past action—typically that of an offensive or insensitive quality. This sensation, though faintly "felt" by Xinc, had granted 'em another very slim slivered window into the realm of subjection; A realm in which Xinc yearns for a clear elaboration of. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Xinc placed the hard-copy in 'eir personal filing cabinet, grabbed 'eir general webbing accessory, and proceeded to the corporate gateway in which to begin a new shift.
