  1. Actually Melkior there are a bunch of unprofessional guides on how to escape a straitjacket that you can find on the internet now, that actually work. Presumably there would be more in 2458. Especially for non-humans. If a changeling shapeshifts after being tied up, why would the straitjacket be so precisely locked on that new body as it would on the prior one. If I was a 5'4 nerdy human and then I suddenly become a muscly tajaran why would that jacket still restrain me (A straitjacket has shoulder straps, behind the arm straps, under arm straps, waist straps, groin straps, back straps, thigh straps, and more that all need to be precisely locked in fact one of the ways to escape a jacket is to bloat yourself by sucking in air so that the important straps aren't as tight as they are supposed to be, it's pretty precise)
  2. That's not much of a penalty. A "Get an antag out of the round free card" that can only be used once and can't be used to stop violent patients? Violent patients are seldom a thing because if your character goes berserk in medical and isn't an antag (Even if you're an antag if you don't have a great reason for attacking doctors) you get bwoinked.
  3. This. I've been a changeling who was knocked down by security and then put in a straight jacket and all the addons and put in solitary. This was a while ago (old server) but putting an antag perma out of the round is a major deal but was an IC issue because if we have inescapable restraints with no penalty for security using them there's really no point not to. I don't think that removing the SJ is an option but I do think it should be eventually escapable because being thrown in a dark room and left there for thirty minutes before ghosting is BS.
  4. I agree and I didn't really choose the most accurate wording. I meant to say that the degrees you would be hired for do not count as instability. If you've worked for NT for any amount of time with extreme depression to the point of going "Woe is me I want to die, no doctor do not safe my life I am too distraught to live" someone who bosses you around would have probably noticed. Consistent suicidal/harmful depression roleplay is one of two extremes that is not accurate and is harmful to people who actually have depression like myself.
  5. Forcing treatment is a whole legal nightmare that a corp like NT probably would not get its hands tied in especially with an economic system involved (The hospital forced me to get surgery so that I'd go into debt! - lawsuit). Mental instability is another iffy point because unless you witness everyone on the station die you don't have a reason to be full blown insane. The station belongs to a Corp who presumably doesn't hire people unless they are able to perform mentally and physically (mechanical organs/limbs to cope with physical weakness). Depression if roleplayed correctly is not something that counts as instability because there are many ways of attempting to treat it and cope with it.
  6. My feedback wasn't noticed but uh, the character background still hasn't finished. " Her academic success attracted a job offer on one of Nanotransen's Stations to provide with chemical research. Her parents believe that they have achieved the greatest thing ever, and that their and their ancestor's sacrifice was not in vain. The little kitten is however, deeply terrified to not dissapoint her parents or her employers, and bears a constant " is the last line. I don't really know if more is there or supposed to be there that I just can't see?
  7. I know it's up in the air, but something you could do for it is dock end of round pay so that someone defaults on the payment instead of getting rejected outright. This also allows for people to refuse non-essential medical operations. The gardener loses a leg in an explosion? "Well I don't really need that 350 Thaller Biotech Brand leg.. I'll take a wheelchair since I can still do my job with it just fine" They aren't permanently left without a leg, because they can get a crappy unbranded one from that clinic near their busted up apartment with some nifty flavor text about it being rusted or creaking when it moves.
  8. IIRC the only way you can pick up a mice in newcode is by putting the corpse in a glass jar
  9. Firstly ; This is the only Vaurca that's attacked anyone. You're again asserting that my drone was an aggressor when he never even attempted violence because you put him out of the round. Secondly; Yes it's justifiable to threaten your crew, it is not justifiable to believe that your crew will not get fed up with a threat of severe and irreparable torture. As someone who had been dissenting from the start with the other crews attitude (He and Lighter repeatedly expressed displeasure with how the crew was doing things, and repeatedly said "Dhiz iz zdupid"), and who complained that he had no gas mask the first time the crew left the ship, he had very noticeably been roleplaying displeasure. A threat of torture and systematic organ failure to someone who's been dissenting is not going to go without any reaction. People seem eager to accuse me of jumping to violence as Vaurca when only one jumped to violence. The other barricaded a room and got effectively stabbed in the eyes for it and that is all that happened.
  10. I have now been warned by NursieKitty during a pirate round. As an Unbound Vaurca Pirate my character, when threatened by the pirate captain who is also a dangerous criminal like themselves, they had absolutely no basis IC for believing the threat of being EMP'd whatsoever. Threatening an Unbound Vaurca with a slow and painful death by systematically shutting down every organ is completely fine, them believing that you would do that and preemptively attacking you to prevent it however is not even when you are both criminals who have a history of taking contracts for murder/kidnapping/torture. I literally get in trouble regardless of the situation if violence is involved.
  11. As far as I am aware ; Vaurca don't gib mice out of hunger, but rather a sense of cleaning vermin out of the "hive". Vaurca also can eat food other than K'ois, but they generally don't. It's their main food not their only food. Like the lore states they can cannibalize others of their species.
  12. No the hive doesn't talk to me on the ship. I took the camera because my drone generally picks up things that interest him and he wanted to figure out how it worked by taking pictures. He's similarly picked up maintenance drones and wore them as a hat. Also I stand around unmoving a lot. With the recent server DDoSing my connection has been really bad, like disconnect three times every ten minutes bad. And I apologize that this was how everything came out. I never pushed you and I never harmed you, my Drone built the grilles after you wrote that he raped you and then suddenly being permablinded and put out of the round for forty minutes was really infuriating. Now it seems like a large misconception.
  13. I never pushed you. I legitimately *never* pushed you. I was not on any attempt other than help, so I could not have pushed you unless you were in a different intent. You've been saying I pushed you and I never did. I thought you were saying that I pushed you in character but you are legitimately accusing me of something I didn't do. I went build the grilles because you wrote an article called "Rape on the Aurora" essentially accusing me of that IC, rape. Finally ; What you did was severe escalation, you effectively stabbed someone in the eyes repeatedly. I was out of the round because of that since after forty minutes of trying, medical kicked me out. Finally finally; I just saw that part about the APC. I never interacted with any APCs the entire session so you are just legitimately making things up right now.
  14. Nanako ; The reason you don't know this character is that it's the name of the tajara he's applying for. I've played a lot of games with SmokedFish and I've gotten pretty salty at them for some stuff they did, but they're pretty good at what they do. That being said the background doesn't really feel Tajaran to me (It could be just that it jumps immediately to emigration, even though not every area on the planet is war-torn?) it's also incomplete.
  15. Yes, I don't have a lore question, I'm not questioning what I did because it's stuff that I did as a Vaurca back on Aurora code and was told it was fine the last time it got investigated. My complaints are both what happened with my Jobban, I was accused of powergaming by becoming a slime as a diona that was already marked friendly to slimes and actually became weaker in doing so in exchange for moving faster, and that potentially my whitelist is in jeopardy because what I did might not have been valid while a non-antag civilian perma blinding me when I was critically injured is deemed reasonable escalation when I never touched him. Earlier I said I feel like there is a personal vendetta and I still feel like such because it feels like on both characters I had regardless of actual backstory, none of my escalation could possibly be IC and it is all always excessive. The only time I get bwoinked by Nursie is when I have to explain my actions and it always ends with me being told "Okay but you can't escalate to violence for it"/"The violence you used was excessive and powergaming"
  16. The person who blinded me was tackled by the other engineers and held in a locker. I was a bound Vaurca, but I was a bound warrior Vaurca not a worker drone, so arguably I would be the only bound Vaurca type capable of pursuing violence. I asked if it would be allowed for me to kill him for the damages he did, because by the time I asked I had been in medical for forty real life minutes until I got kicked out because they couldn't repair my eyes and said it was good enough. The round ended almost immediately after that with no actual repercussions for the civilian doing something that equates to running up to a critically injured human (Who was injured by forcing his coworkers out of a maintenance hall while being bitten by a giant spider before killing it) and stabbing them repeatedly in the eyes. The fact I asked to pursue violence in a pm is irrelevant because it never came to that, since I was forcefully put out of the round because of the journalist's actions and unable to do any actions passive or aggressive. The loremaster is being asked if I was allowed to pursue revenge by ; Following the journalist to the library and then walling him in with girders and not doing anything violent to him at any point. I never pushed him. I never disarmed him. I never touched him.
  17. I didn't accuse Nursie of having a personal vendetta. I said that I felt this was the case. Unless the ruling was changed after we updated from Aurora code a Vaurca Drone was allowed to fight someone for violent actions pursued against them. A drone would not need self-awareness to attack someone. If a Bound Drone did not have a concept of violence and revenge the hive system would have died off if Vaurca had any natural predators or ever got in a fight. A drone does not need to feel pain, or understand death, to remember if someone walked into their hive and caused a large amount of damages before leaving. Without thinking of itself the Vaurca would associate that person with being hazardous against the hive's wellbeing and act if they came near the hive again. The lack of self awareness does not mean that a Vaurca is unaware of something being bad and warranting repercussion. Immediate or associated violence is a basic animal response and not a true complex thought. The Vaurca in question, my character, is a type BA. A warrior drone, which means that they especially should be able to understand simple violent and revenge tactics (But not set up elaborate traps)
  18. I haven't played it in some time, since the third or fourth beta update. I remember being a brain in a bunker who would build rocket silos and then remote control them as missiles.
  19. My Diona Shard Capturing The Stars can be a psychologist. (He rarely is because nobody ever uses them, except for that one time he actually got to have a therapy session with officer Dylan Wright and ended up taking notes and altering his prescription) CKey: FrenziedVorcha
  20. BYOND Key: FrenziedVorcha Staff BYOND Key: NursieKitty Reason for complaint: I was told I could not react violently to being permanently blinded as a Vaurca even before the fact I was a drone was realized. Now the loremaster for Vaurca is going to be asked if I'm allowed to pursue revenge as a drone. Before this I was jobbanned for powergaming and unreasonable escalation (I was also told not to escalate to violence or murder in this case as well as violence would be unreasonable) in a way that seems like some sort of personal vendetta. 21. BYOND Key:FrenziedVorcha Character Names:Shard Capturing The Stars (Dionaea) Za'Viax'Sil Ka'riith (Vaurca Drone) Species you are applying to play: Tajara What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Zhan-Khazan. Light Blue-Grey (76,80,100) Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: I've spent a lot of time playing Vaurca, even more playing Dionaea. I'd like to branch out further and maybe play someone on the opposite end of the speed spectrum. I think that the Cold War USSR sort of oppression that led to even more political and personal right's turmoil is interesting. The pride and history is distinctly different from the other species I've played. It's also interesting to see how a species that Nanotrasen has had prolonged influence over the development of instead of races like the Vaurca/Dionaea/Skrell where they're kind of new to the party and have less "vested" interests in them. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: The Tajara are different than humans largely by the extent of the oppression faced by them and the modern discrimination they face. While their history parallels Humanity's to an extent it is by far much more stretched out in the "Dark Ages" and the Tajara are relatively recent in their freedoms. Additionally, if you believe the conspiracies, working for Nanotrasen is much more than just a job for them because of the heavy hand the Corp played in their history. I think that this could make the two races distinctly different by the level of personal involvedness felt by the characters because some humans don't exactly seem invested in their jobs on station. Character Name: Ali'm Quo'di'ra Jouss'ar Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Ali'm was born and raised in the mountains around Quizosa. Like many Zhan-Khazan, he worshiped the Snow God. On his Mother's side the family had a history for producing many religiously active members such as priests and shrine-servants. On his Father's side there was a history of mine workers. While he was pure Zhan-Khazan on his Mother's side, his Father's genes were mixed, resulting in a light fur color with a calicoesque pattern of darker colored splotches. Ali'm was raised in service to the Snow God, tending the shrine daily and helping in prayer. As he grew older he began to work in the mines for a more tangible means of helping the community. When forces from Quizosa moved in on the area he was raised, he was initially hopeful with their public speeches about unity against a corporate regime and mismatched governments. This hope was dashed when the junta began to enforce its will and destroyed his family's shrine as a means of controlling the population's spirit. Ali'm fought back for many years, eventually being put out of the freedom fighting game by a shot that shattered his knee. Crippled, he applied to Nanotrasen as a last ditch effort to get off of the planet and away from the regime that plagued his home. After getting his knee repaired, an operation that undoubtedly put him in debt to the Corporation, Ali'm has worked as a miner, a chaplain, and occasionally as security. What do you like about this character? He's different from my other character's. He's someone who experienced turmoil and was forced to abandon his ideals for practical reasons. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I wouldn't. I'm not a great judge of character and even worse at introspective stuff. If I had to rate it I'd say mid-line. Notes:
  22. BYOND Key: FrenziedVorcha Total Ban Length: Perma Banning staff member's Key: AimlessAnalyst/NursieKitty Reason of Ban: Unreasonable escalation of force and powergaming as a xenobiologist using slimes. Self-antagging. This ban can be appealed on the forums. This ban was applied by TrialModerator NursieKitty. Reason for Appeal: (State your reason for why you think you should be unbanned) The escalation was IC for a character who has consistently been a Diona who gets irritated when their work is not taken seriously and messed with. I "powergamed" by sliming myself when the slimes were already all marked as friendly to me because of XenBio taming. They wouldn't have attacked me anyways because I was marked as friendly to them, and the mutagen was only to make me move faster which it did slightly. The entire logs of the event are in the spoiler below (Starting from my 11th DC that game). TL/DR of the spoiler : Diona comes into lab, sees that all of the slimes it's been breeding have been sealed in the blast doors and a changeling has eaten 2 and a half monkey boxes. Tells the changeling that if it doesn't stop eating resources it will be killed permanently. Is responded to with "This is making the RD more money than fuckin' slimes." and the death of another monkey. Attacks the changeling, security breaks it up, gets angrier at the discussion being held and fights the changeling again. Injects itself with slime mutagen to move faster. Gets backed into a corner by security, walks around the wall and gets tazed, starts releasing slimes to chase people out of the lab and then ensures that no slimes leave the lab beyond that whatsoever.

Both decided that Non-Crew were not protected by the ruling against executions, and ordered that all non-crew members be debrained and put into an MMI. When asked to report this to Central Command, Station AI Doctor refused and said that the captain was in a position to overrule the CCIA. Did you report it to a Head of Staff or IAA? If so, who?: Additional notes: AI unit Doctor appears to be suffering from severe processing defects, and believes itself to truly be organic.
  24. I've had a bunch of rounds with Bibiex, mostly when I was a medical borg. Francisca is consistently take charge and accountable, while still maintaining personal quirks. +1
  25. BYOND Key: FrenziedVorcha Character Names: A.R.C, Ka'Viax'Niir Va'Nik, Isaiah Richter Species you are applying to play: Dionaea What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Exempt Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: Plants fascinate me, almost as much as insect biology, for example above 10 feet trees must create enough pressure inside of themselves to make "negative atmospheres" able to push water up past the vascular vacuum. While the Dionaea aren't truly either plants or animals, they're definitely more foliage in appearance than meat. They're interesting, definitely inquisitive. If anything I'd say the closest species to a Diona I've seen are the Salarians with their natural intellect and rapid information processing, though contrasted by the stark differences in speed. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: The pacing. Dionaea are slow compared to humans, physically slow that is. They're less jack of all trades and more refined tools. They aren't suitable for combat, but excel in all other fields depending on their origin or even just who they integrate with. They're almost childlike with how inquisitive they are where you might see Humans as "haggard" by their cumulative experiences. They've got aspects that appeal to all races more than the aspects that cause mistrust, such as their mythological characteristics and the nature of their intelligence overpowering the darkness that is their assimilation of corpses. Character Name: The Shard Capturing The Stars Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs "Born" On the DSS Ophion, from the start The Shard Capturing The Stars was inquisitive, albeit more reclusive and methodical than others of their kind. Shard had an affinity for destructive and analytical sciences over medical applications. Preferring to study archaeological sites and toxins rather than chemistry and surgery. That's not to say they weren't competent at either, but would prefer to fill them as needed rather than as wanted. Like many of their kind Shard had an immense desire to accumulate as much information as possible, unfortunately their curiosity reached a point of trouble when caught performing exploratory surgeries on conscious patients to get feedback on the reactions and feelings they experienced. Despite this red spot on their record, Shard was hired by Nanotreson as a scientist and an outpost paramedic. Understandably, like other Ophion-originated Dionaea Shard was placed under close scrutiny in the events of possible hostility, with good reasoning given their past experience. No more red flags were given around Shard's work ethic due to the constant feed of information provided by their schedule, and possibly the fact that as a paramedic they got to operate without anesthetic more often than not. What do you like about this character? The inquisitive nature of a Dionaea that Shard possesses, while having a contrasting attitude compared to other Aurora Dionaea thanks to the methodical and sometimes cold nature of Ophion Dionaea. It's a change of pace from Vaurca with more emotion allowed while still enforcing the rigid working mechanisms. How would you rate your role-playing ability? 5/10. I've been doing it for a while and like to think I'm at least competent. Notes:
