Overview of the Incident:

Shift started as normal and I was attempting a specific mutation of tomatoes to research. Results were initially poor as I had accidentally produced 'blood tomatoes' as they are commonly known.

As time passed it became very evident that someone was breaking into Xenobotany whenever I left the lab. The evidence were messes spanning the main thoroughfare of the station and bar consisting of tomatoes and blood, a clear sign of someone throwing aforementioned 'blood tomatoes'

I left the lab and began briefly discussing the matter with Preston (Witness) and showed him one of the tomatoes in question, which he then fumbled and dropped, creating more mess accidentally. Khaled Al-Bastaki, the acting HoS saw this and insisted the mess be cleaned up by myself. Taking responsibility, I agreed to clean up the mess, but this was not enough for Al-Bastaki. As a crowd gathered, including the Captain Uriel Evans, Al-Bastaki made a spectacle of the situation demanding I clean the mess up manually rather than use space cleaner or a cleaning grenade to, quote "learn a lesson".

Now I take responsibility for the mess Preston Prestoff accidentally caused, as it was indirectly caused by myself. But for a reputable scientist to be humiliated in front of a small crowd in such a manner was unacceptable in my opinion. I am baffled that the HoS would give their focus to disciplining a scientist over catching a crewmember stealing research materials.

Did you report it to a Head of Department or IAA? If so, who?: I reported the matter to Ryliab Weeshib, HoP. I was advised to fill in a complaints form which they faxed over but there were some issues regarding how the form was filled out, hence my resubmission of it now.

Actions taken: None yet, that I know of

Additional Notes: The break-ins of xenobotany were never solved as far as I'm aware.
