ShameOnTurtles Posted June 17, 2019 Posted June 17, 2019 With the addition of the feature that automatically puts a full stop at the end of the sentence when using the Say verb, people (myself included) who frequently use audio emotes to speak now get a full stop put after quotation marks. It would be nice if the system recognised that ending with a quotation mark is valid.
Mwahahahaha Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 (edited) This would be really grand. It probably wouldn't be fair to just ask for the removal of it outright considering it was just implemented. Other people may probably benefit from it in some way. But the way it is currently implemented, in my opinion, makes certain audible emotes really awkward. Before I saw this thread, I was actually coming in thinking if instead it was just made a toggleable feature, perhaps in Preferences and/or the character setup's global tab. If we're going with Shame's method instead/as well, I was also thinking maybe refrain from autopunctuating not just with quotation marks but maybe also other forms of punctuation like commas, colons, semicolons, possibly em and en dashes. As it stands right now, I think it only doesn't place a period when it detects (at the end of the message) an exclamation mark, a question mark, or a hyphen. Edited July 31, 2019 by Mwahahahaha
MoondancerPony Posted August 2, 2019 Posted August 2, 2019 I'm adding everything mentioned except EM and EN-dashes, since those are Complicated and I think they just turn into invalid characters in chat.

Seemed fine on my end since forever when it came to the chat. Or just about anywhere outside of SQL.
