[Denied] Sibg - Integrated Positronic Chassis

Recommended Posts

BYOND Key: Sibg

Character Names: Allison Stough, Rebecca Pittman

Species you are applying to play: Integrated Positronic Chassis

Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes!

Why do you wish to play this specific race:
IPC’s are a extension of artificial intelligence, they are not human but a machine to help with bolstering workforces. I would like to roleplay one of them as they cold and calculating, constantly seeking its own survival and ways to live long term, as they are always in jeopardy of getting wiped or deconstructed.

Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human:
IPC’s are in no way human but can mimic their behavior to a certain degree but being robots, they are predictable and no way irregular in their behavior.
They are built in models and certain jobs and are always replaced with bigger and better versions leaving the older models obsolete. They can be viewed as utilities and are no way comparable to its organic counterparts.

 Character Name: AL0-NE

Please provide a short backstory for this character:

AL0-NE is apart of series of miner units created by Xion Manufacturing to replace the aging G1 Hephaestus units on mining related tasks, he was sent to a distant mining outpost in Tau Ceti to supplement its small force of Hephaestus counterparts. AL0-NE was never one to talk always bringing in larger counts of ores then his G1 frames, this led to them being replaced by frames of his own kind and made him considerably worried about his own survival in this constant battle for better efficiency. The outpost shortly after being more Xion Industrial then Hephaestus led to AL0-NE himself no longer being needed there as his services were rendered the same as his counterparts.

AL0-NE never did meet a lot of the same units as they were considered supplements to aging IPC workforces, however one of his unit he did meet and they shared mutual interests in the fact they might be replaced some day but it always seemed impossible as they got shuffled around so much it never bothered them much, he never did see that IPC again but he always questioned his survival whenever he was moved.

AL0-NE’s efficiency never decreased but there were noticeable increments in his ore output which led to his job changes being less frequent and him being less important for bolstering workforces but for gathering materials faster for places like fabricators and research outposts. His job never changed but his series of units became less and less because of upgrades and the less needed mining workforce as veins of ores were becoming depleted and less forces were needed. AL0-NE is always constantly improving but he fears one day he may become one of the obsolete units of his series and be scrapped for parts.

What do you like about this character?

What I like about ALONE is that he is always looking for ways to improve his work life and improve the ore output for his assigned mining duties to avoid being obsolete and scrapped like many of his fellow Industrials have been.

How would you rate your role-playing ability?

It is fine for what I needs to be, but there is always room for improvement and I always try my best.

:)

Hello!

Could you expand upon how IPCs differ from humans?

Additionally, how did AL0-NE make their way to the Aurora? You mention that they were manufactured to replace G1 and G2 units but why is this? It's important to note that Xion's are older in design than G2s. If ALONE brought in larger counts of ore, why were they eventually no longer needed?

Hello!
(I'll just rewrite it in a reply if you don't mind)

Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human:
IPC’s are in no way human but can mimic their behavior to a certain degree but being robots, they are predictable and no way irregular in their behavior.
They are built in models and certain jobs and are always replaced with bigger and better versions leaving the older models obsolete. They can be viewed as utilities and are no way comparable to its organic counterparts. Unlike humans IPC's lack any kind of culture and merely adapt to whatever is around then, but many remain untouched. The most important part of how a IPC differs from a human is the fact they have to manage their battery and heat output making it harder to maintain a constant workflow unlike humans which only require food. They also face great discrimination with having a command position greatly scrutinized.

AL0-NE made there way to Aurora after being reassigned from one of the various mining outposts around Tau Ceti, his notable increases in his ore counts and lack of EVA assistance were noticed and Nanotrasen took a interest in him offering contract work to help with the always needed mining force at the Aurora. Since they have a research department more ore output would help with there material consumption.

AL0-NE's series was manufactured to supplement and eventually replace the aging G1 frames and show investors that the Xion frames were more efficient than there aging counterparts. They were eventually not needed anymore because there job was complete and the investors were impressed by the work AL0-NE and his series showed, this caused more standard Xion frames to be implemented into the mining service rendering AL0 units to be the same or even worse than normal Xion frames making them less common in the service.

(I only noticed shortly after that G2's are older and will edit that shortly after this reply)

Sounds good, thank you for the additions and clarifications!

I feel the application is still almost there. Are you able to expand on ALO-NE as an individual? Beyond work. How does their existence and how they were moved around effect their outlook? Keep in mind that an IPC can be beyond just an emotionless stereotype.

Also on a side note, are they owned by Nanotrasen? Heph?

Hello again!
AL0-NE is owned by Hephaestus Industries and is contracted by the Nanotrasen, but Hephaestus does own them still because they have shown quite the efficiency and haven't decided to dump him yet. It was Hephaestus who made him and it was for the companies purpose of showing off the Xion models like himself so yes, Hephaestus does wholly own him sending him off wherever he is needed.

AL0-NE has always been involved with his work not showing his true self until he found some of his own series. He always was inclined to do his best in everything he did, his thoughts in his off time charging and being repaired were that any moment a Company rep would come over to him and tell him he was being deconstructed, his constant sense of survival always pushed him further than he was intended making him forget these thoughts but he always kept it in mind. His movements from outposts & stations never bothered him from the fact his duties may be finished for the last time, but there was always one quirk his synthetic and organic counterparts didn't seem to notice. In all the time AL0-NE had been around Tau Ceti, he had a affinity with carving small wooden objects, some being names of his series carved into a replica of the station or outpost he met them on, or himself carrying different types of ore, sadly he never did get to keep them for long but it was noticed.

Moving around different stations & outposts didn't bother him, although his view of himself changed and the way his fellow synthetics were used changed, he realized after all his time that maybe they had a purpose beyond being used for mining, industrial and work no sane human would do, it never ceased to amaze him the conflicts other species had caused and his own synthetic race never caused much themselves. AL0-NE thought maybe just maybe, they could be free of their masters like the others and never be deconstructed and live along as they wished. But of course AL0-NE never did see this happen, but always returned to this thought in his head every so often.

Firstly! I want to apologize for the delay in handling your application.

I really do feel like the application is nearly there and so the way I want to go about this is that I'll deny this application on the grounds that I don't confidently feel as though it expresses an understanding of IPCs as a whole. As such, I would ask that you reapply with a new application. However, in constructing the new application, feel free to consider the questions posed here.

I want to however state that I feel the application is nearly there. I particularly enjoyed the detail pertaining to wood carving! However, remarks such as this cause me a bit of concern:

The server has a history of terrorism enacted by IPCs. If Alo-ne has an understanding of conflicts pertaining to other races, one would assume he would have been able to learn about SLF. Although certainly understandable if someone's character doesn't know, I have to wonder 'does the player know?'

Nevertheless, feel free to reapply in 3 days time.
