Quertypunch
Basic Information Byond Account:Qwertypunch Character Name(s): Martha Escobar, Evelyn Dahl, True Ayatova, Alina Bulstrode AI Name(s): N/A Discord username + tag: Qwertypunch#7258 Age: 26 Timezone: Eastern Time Zone When are you on Aurora?: Weekends, mostly, but during the week, usually on after 6:00 PM Experience How long have you played SS13?: about 2 months How long have you played on Aurora: Same amount of time How much do you know about SS13 (Baystation build) game mechanics?: Well, I've been going through the code in my spare time in an attempt to familiarize myself with mechanics, and have been watching roles I don't fully understand. Do you have any experience moderating for an SS13 server?: No Have you read through the criteria thread; https://forums.aurorastation.org/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=4198 - and believe that you mark off all the criteria?: I believe I do. Have you ever been banned, and if so, how long and why?: Not yet Personality Why do you play SS13?: In all honesty, I looked into it based on the recommendation of a friend and boredom from the Black Death Covid-19 actually drove me to play Why do you play on Aurora?: I love RP. Especially ones where the players are fun to be around, regardless of how I feel about the characters themselves. What do moderators do?: Moderators keep the peace. Their job is to make sure that the salt from each round is recycled, and that issues the players run into are taken care of in a firm yet just manner. What does it mean to be a moderator for our server?: To be a moderator is to be charged with being one of the most difficult jobs. Balancing fun versus fairness can seem like quite an issue, but I believe that a middle ground can be found. Why do you want to be a moderator?: Well, at first, it was only because I promised Read I would. After actually spending a bit of time looking over the moderator things (including past applications), I believe I could be a major help to the server. At the very least, I could help a little bit, until I got used to how to do things. What qualities do you possess that would make you a good moderator?: I've been told that I'm calm and collected a lot of the time. I also tend to listen to people first, and I do like bringing issues to a close in a way that is good for everyone. How well do you handle stress, anger, or insults?: I think I handle it decently. In my real life, I work with the licensing department of my state, and have to deal with a lot of angry people. I've heard a lot of things. However, I've always been able to put that behind me. I think I will still be able to keep my level head, even when people get mad at me Anything Else You Want to Add: If anything negative happens, I want to blame Read for this. If anything positive happens, I want to thank Read for this. What a fool you are. I'm a god. How can you kill a god? What a grand and intoxicating innocence. How can you be so naive? There is no escape. No Recall or Intervention can work in this place. Come. Lay down your weapons. It is not too late for my mercy. Link to comment
SampleTex
You've got a solid application, but that 2 month experience with playing the game is a bit concerning since you need a lot of knowledge on the mechanics of the game in order to help people out. You did say you have gone through the code, how confident are you on your ability to help guide players with sometimes confusing mechanics like surgery, engine set up and rescues, various antag mechanics? Quertypunch
I've gone through surgery and most of the antag roles in the code and in my spare time, but I've only ever observed engineering, and not actually done it before. I know that there are things I may not be good at just yet, mechanics-wise, but I can learn, and more importantly, know when I don't know things and ask others who may have a better idea of what to do. I hope to know what I'm doing soon for engineering, but I hope to be able to help out with other things until I know how to set up/fix the engine in ways that do not involve calling an emergency shuttle.
