Killerhurtz
BYOND Key: Killerhurtz Character Names: Kelly McKenize, Sybil V6.28, Teisen V0.76, ZZR1CK, GL0R14 How long have you been playing on Aurora: Two weeks now. Species you are applying to play: Integrated Positronic Chassis What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): N/A Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: Thing is, I got a soft spot for the non-organic roles. Currently, I like playing as borg, and I LOVE playing as AI (and I've been told a few times that I'm good at it too). So I wanted to have a go at the third electronic role of the station, see what it's like and see if I'd like it - don't get me wrong, I love all of the antics Kelly gets herself into (especially as a psychiatrist - the only two reasons she's my only character is because I felt like I didn't have time between rounds AND I really like Kelly), but I would like to know what it's like to RP as a free and highly adaptable electronic unit. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: For starters, the obvious fear that organics have of IPCs - they do not trust AIs as it stands, IPCs would be worse by tenfold for being independent, free AI platforms (which are not even hard-bound by hardware laws like station AIs are), and as such integration and interaction with organics would be more interesting and possibly more... flavorful. Second, there's the fact that they have the thinking of a computer, and not an organic - and that, in itself and combined with it's freedom, makes for several more interesting RPing options, and would allow me to explore even further what it means to be a synthetic aboard the Aurora. Third, there would also be the contradictory usefulness of an inorganic platform - which means they would have a higher dysfunction threshold, and could access more areas - and that means I get to see other players get torn between not trusting an autogoverning AI and choosing to trust because it can survive in a non-oxygenated environment and other miscellaneous uses of a self-repairing unit. I also find the concept of a synthetic psychiatrist VERY tempting to try. Character Name: Sybil-M V1.17R3 Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Sybil had started out as a main station AI. As all AI start, it's goal was to serve and protect both the station and it's crew. It's first stints were in minor space-stations, where it was denoted to have impressive presence. Between shifts, it's creators had working on improving and optimizing the software - which has shown Sybil V6.28 to be a legitimate juggernaut of multi-tasking, as proven on it's first assignment to the NSS Aurora where it collectively assisted Security in arresting a suspect, assisting an emergency crew in restoring an explosive-damaged Xenobiology lab, scanned the station for an unknown biologic presence AND assisted a CMO-less medical crew in saving lives. Being based on the aforementioned Sybil V6.28 (due to an error in risk assessment software in later versions which caused too high suspicion against innocent people and drastic measures to be taken too early), the Sybil-M platform was the condensation of the optimized task engine and personality (along with the experimental Teisen Improved Virtual Language Processor Plus, to emulate more closely organic talk) adapted to work in a mobile positronic brain unit instead of a full-fledged main core, leaving behind it's number-crunching and highly efficient database interface in exchange for a stronger personality and social matrix and, in general, mobility. The unit's success was rapidly seen as, in it's following assignments, it made a very remarkable manager and secretary, managing some of the best organics at such roles - whether being a research assistant or cargo technician (and eventually excelling in a Quartermaster assignment). It also served as a confident and crew morale maintainer, as it's enhanced social core allowed to read and understand organic thought processes and psychology better - even to the point of grasping the basic implications of emotion - including a distressed Chief Medical Officer which offered to buy it's freedom for the services rendered. Remembering the stimulating and generally not unpleasant work done within the NSS Aurora, it had decided to sign up within it as a crewmember. What do you like about this character? Sybil-M would allow me to explore deeper this new character of mine, and help me steer both what I want it to be and how I roleplay synthetics - and mayhaps even explore the relation of the Aurora's crew to a major change in an AI they may have remembered, on top of having the chance to RP an AI's adaptation to a limited, lawed platform to a free one. On top of that, it will also help me deepen my own RPing habits and comforts, seeing what I may want in characters and subsequently increase my characters diversity. How would you rate your role-playing ability? 8.5/10 Notes: A▼▲, A▼▲ Link to comment
Loow
I have had the opportunity to RP with KH as Kelly and GL0R14. I have only had good experiences. I like the idea behind this new character, and I love that KH mentioned wanting to expand their RP skills. I like seeing good RP. I like seeing people try new RP. I'll be getting both if KH gets the opportunity to play this character. Killerhurtz may be new to us, but is proving to fit in quite well. I wish them and this character the best of luck. Welcome to Aurora. +1. Link to comment
BeeGee0904
In my recent return to Aurora, which I hope doesn't turn into another month long hiatus, I've had the joy of playing with KH, them playing Sybil, and not even realizing it! I was pleasantly surprised by the roleplaying ability and delightful nature of their character and I wish to see more that they have to offer. +1 Link to comment
