pugman899 Posted August 26, 2022 Posted August 26, 2022 BYOND Key: (Pugman899) Character Names: (Bob Fisher) Species you are applying to play: (Dionaea) What color do you plan on making your first alien character: (see above) Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: yes i have Why do you wish to play this specific race: I would like to play this race because i think it would be cool to play as one, their lore is neat, they look cool, and overall i think it would be fun. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: It is different because, you would have to avoid dark-places, if you want to hold a chat somewhere, it has to be somewhere with light. this gives me the chance to have a "fear of the dark" kind of thing. they can talk about how big their Gestalts can become, and it would make for some interesting rp scenarios. Character Name:(Thorn)[i got the idea from the lore page as they tend to name themselves after stuff they may like or emotions they like.] Please provide a short backstory for this character: Split off from its cetus after passing the orion spur, looking for work as an Gestalts, it started looking for work on the planet Moghes after it passed by there, the unathi put them stright to work as a lifebringer, putting plants into city's and such, some of the unathi even tried to make them work during the night, though after it showed an extreme amount of pain, they stopped it and made sure it did not go out at night again, after a few years and some, not very much at all, of the planet got plants, a shipment from Space Station 13-Aurora station, after seeing this it snuck aboard the shuttle and rested on its way back. What do you like about this character? (I like the idea of being a plant person, it just seems super neat that there is a being that can merge and split with others of its kind at will.) How would you rate your role-playing ability? I would not rate it great, but also not to bad Notes: hi
JormungandrButCooler Posted August 30, 2022 Posted August 30, 2022 (Just some new player coming through don't mind me) I have a feeling they haven't read the lore.
Yonnimer Posted September 3, 2022 Posted September 3, 2022 Apologies with the delay with this. I'm going to be denying this for primarily two reasons; The app itself, while showing some light understanding of Dionae lore, is not really sufficient. While Dionae names do not have to be complex, they're meant to be based on experiences, emotions, actions, or ideals the Dionae has/had, this may be something like "Speakers Of the Eternal Wisdom" for a Dionae Eternal priest, or "Warmth Kindled Through Sparks" for an engineer, "Thorn" generally isn't something a Dionae would call themselves, but may incorporate the word into a longer name. The backstory itself does not work with Dionae or Unathi lore in our setting and does not really show much of an understanding of either. Dionae on Moghes do exist, but, primarily in the wastelands either working with a clan in a village after likely being raised by it and/or working to help clear radiation in parts of the wastes more heavily affected, not as some sort of city gardener. It's also very unlikely they would be forced to work through the night in a way that would bring them pain, most Unathi have at least some respect for the species, definitely not to the point where they would endanger their life like this, it's also important to note that Dionae do not just feed off of light, they feed specifically off of radiation, which light is a form of. In places on Moghes with some radiation nighttime would not really be a problem for Dionae as they'd have another source of radiation, otherwise they would be storing up as much energy as they could durnig the day and enter a dorment-like state in the night to help conserve energy until the next morning. The second point i'd have to be denying you on is your low number of rounds played on the server, while we do not have a minimum requirement of time played on the server, we do still expect enough rounds to be played so that you have a decent understanding of the server, it's lore, and how characters are played. You're free to apply in the future, however i'd ask you to at least wait a month with a few dozen rounds played at least. I'd also highly suggest reading through previous applications to see points generally brought up in backstories for these applications, such as their mindtype, feelings on other species, ect.
