Toast
BYOND Key: Sir Toast Discord Username: ThisAintReal#8873 Character Name: Osborne Strelitz Item Name: Dominian officers trench coat Item Function(s): A standard jacket that serves to keep anything underneath warm. It has two item slots and isn't meant to be worn without being fully zipped up. Item Description: An Imperial army trench coat that is used by Dominian officers in colder environments. this one is missing the unit insignia and has the symbol of a military count on its rank collar. Why is your character bringing this item to work?: Osborne Strelitz is a member of His Majesties Diplomatic Service, and as such is expected to represent his Empire along with his venerable house. He is not particularly fond of extravagance, and like many members of House Strelitz would prefer to stay in clothing that is tied to the Imperial Army. Due to this, he has opted to take a stylistic trench coat and clean it of all honorifics except his post-service posting as a military count that remains on his collar so that they may wear it along with their standard under-suit. How did your character obtain this item?: Osborne obtained this coat from their time in the Imperial Army, and was allowed to keep and wear it following retirement and posting as a military count. He grew comfortable wearing it for extended periods of time and like most Strelitz, liked the simple honorable style more than the extreme decadent tastes of other nobles. What value does this item have to your character, and what story does it tell?: During their time in the Imperial Army, Osborne was ordered to lead his unit, the 177th, to a frigid planet on the Imperial Frontier, to quell a massive ongoing resistance movement by disgruntled Ma'zals. Upon arrival, the cold was already a clear issue and Osborne knew that this resistance had to be crushed swiftly and without much delay since the rebels had the advantage of acclimation and knowing the weather enough to use it against the Imperials. Of course due to the weather, Osborne and the rest of the 177th began wearing the trench coats everywhere they went, even while inside their camps and transport ships. Through a few months that felt like far too much time in the blizzards, the resistance was stomped down from a major colonial threat to little inconveniences that the Viceroy of the planet was able to handle with ease and an iron fist. Even after departing the planet, the 177th would wear the trench coat on other assignments and back home. This would mark the trench coat as an iconic identifier of the 177th, becoming an official part of the ceremonial dress uniform for the unit and a reminder to Osborne. After retiring from their career, Osborne had been reassigned to become a Military Count for a base located in the core world, thanks to his connections in the Strelitz household. Due to no longer holding a rank and wishing to not wear the full uniform to simply wear his preferred coat, Osborne had stripped everything except the insignia of his posting on his collar so that he may wear it anytime he pleases. Once retiring from his posting and being requested by members of his own House to represent the Strelitz name in His Majesties Diplomatic Service, Osborne kept the insignia due to Imperial decrees that it was permitted (despite not officially acting in the capacity). Sprites: Additional Comments: The sprite was made with some guidance provided by a helpful human lore writer, to ensure it is accurate enough to be apart of Dominian society. MattAtlas
While I don't like the usage of military clothing, it can be excused for a member of the diplomatic service, I guess. Accepted. Link to comment
