LoneTophat Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 BYOND key: LoneTophat Character names: James Watson How long have you been playing on Aurora?: I've played a few times, but this is my first serious stint. Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: I'd like to organize the personnel and try to avoid complete chaos. Also, we usually lack heads. Why did you come to Aurora?: I've been looking for a well populated server that has strong roleplay and a proper admin team. Have you read the BS12 wiki on the head roles you plan on playing?: Yes, and I often reference pages. Please provide well articulated and argumented answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Roleplay is defined as pretending to play a specific character, but I think in gaming context it's a way to assume a false identity and create entertaining stories. It's a bit like interactive storytelling. I've always enjoyed roleplaying from a young age, as do most children, but my love of fantasy and science fiction pushed me to continue it through videogames. As a writer, I often roleplay my prose characters, and try to come up with realistic reactions that they may have to a given situation. It's quite useful. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: Heads of Staff must seek to organize the crew, direct the crew during emergencies, and consistently act with integrity and responsibility (unless they're a traitor, of course). Ultimately a lot of the early game failure can be attributed to poor management of crew, such as the engine never being started or simply mass chaos due to lack of security. Frankly, Heads of Staff can either make or break the game, which is why I understand whitelisting them. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of a Whitelisted player are to other players?: Generally I'd expect folks who are whitelisted to be respectful and courteous to staff and other players. In-game, I'd like to think of them as a cut above your average roleplayer, always adding something to the mix and never letting things get dull for the other players. Wouldn't be a bad thing to help out new players or admins either. How would you, as a player, OOCly strive to uphold these responsibilities?: Well, I'd embody all the aforementioned roles of course! I'd respect others, strive to organize the crew and provide a positive roleplay environment, help out moderators and admins during issues with griefers, etc. Please pick one of your characters for this paragraph, and provide well articulated responses to the following questions. Character name: James Watson Please provide a short biography of this character (approx 2 paragraphs): James was born on the United Colonies of America's capital city, New Carolina, on the planet of Landfall. He served on the regional task force that protected the capital city since the young age of 16, being a first generation volunteer. He grew sick of the monotony of domestic security however, longing to fly through space at the speed of light, exploring those unreachable locations and meeting the varied alien races of the Universe. He flew out on the next Red Cross Society ship, leaving behind his planet of birth, and his homeland. He was aged 21. He served on various systems then, providing basic medical aid and security services to chaotic and wild planets and peoples. He earned every scar, doing his best to serve others and even lead in times of need. This gave him the skills NanoTrasen was looking for when they recruited him for a security officer position, and he quickly worked his way up the food chain until he was shipped off to Aurora Station for Head of Security duties. He was just 32. It was one of his proudest moments, being sent to the forefront of research and engineering, to ensure the safety and security of all staff on board. He'd do his best to make it an uneventful shift, most certainly. What do you like about this character?: He's got a lot in common with me, frankly. He's inspired by my own journey as a college student and Red Cross volunteer. It really does open your eyes when you visit another country and help someone who's never been given what you have from the very beginning. What do you dislike about this character?: Eh. Scars kinda suck, and he's frankly from a dump of a planet apparently, while the British Empire have loads of colonies. Someone's clearly anti-American here! Do you think this character is fit to be a Head of Staff?: Aye. Why?: In a few words? Leadership, compassion, and integrity. Please provide well articulated and argumented answers to the following questions. How would you rate your own roleplaying?: I'm a decent roleplayer, a cut above the usual, but not particularly hardcore.Like I hinted above, I use my writing skills when I roleplay. I try to put myself in that character's shoes and react appropriately. Extra notes:
Vittorio Giurifiglio Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 Frankly +1 to this guy, from what I have seen of his roll playing it is great, as well as he fucking gets out there, playing grab ass, getting clawed in the face, just overall being a lively guy.
Dea Tacita Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 Indeed for the same reasons as above +1, also. I swell with pride every time someone uses my lore <3
Guest Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 This has guy had me laughing my head off each time I have seen him, I'm willing to see what happens with him as a head.
incognitojesus Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 +1. This guy is hilarious, friendly, competent at his job, and a decent roleplayer who understands not only what roleplay is, but how to go about it. Furthermore, the applicant shows a defined knowledge of what the reason behind the whitelist is for both ICly and OOCly. Lastly, the character has a believable background story, and I can't wait to see him in action. ... Aside from the pinching of Ali's bum. Actually, that was pretty interesting, go for it.
Blue Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 I'm thinking I can +1 this. Lone has been a new face to Aurora, a noticeable new face. From what I've seen, he has showed a willingness to fit in and to learn, so for that, I permit thee to recieveth one vote upwarth. +1
