AI Rules?

Im thinking about playing as an AI soon, never really thought about it until now, but I have some questions before I even think about designing the AI. Firstly, is there a rule against having your AI be made by a different company? It seems fairly obvious that its a no, but I just wanted to make sure before I crossed things off. Secondly, besides being a very expensive door opener and spying camera, what can an legally do? And lastly, is an AI allowed to take measures to ensure its own safety without orders to do so? IE, setting up turrets, bolting doors, or anything else in the like.

Turrets can't be on lethal without good cause, and never on green. Secure areas and your core are not bolted unless ordered to do so.

An AI can do anything that follows it's laws, some AIs deal with Space law too, some don't.

I don't see why it /couldn't/ be from a different company.
