Conspire2Ignite
Mm. I'm not so sure. I had concerns when Tool first brought it up, and a lot of them were mentioned already, so I won't beat a dead horse here. If a new player comes on, they should look up to people that do the right thing, not because they have a title. Giving someone like, say, Vittorio (love to hate him, I really do, and don't want him to change but example needed) the title of "Senior Doctor" and say "Look to your elder, people!" is a... really bad idea. Having someone as Chief is different, because they are your boss and your authority. It matters less that they're a douchebag because you still have to do what they say, even if you don't agree with it. Giving people "mentor" status is a whole different ballgame. This is kind of hard to explain and I'm probably not getting my point across. But it isn't the same thing. People automatically place themselves in a position of "I know what I'm doing" when they prove they know what they're doing, whitelist or no. That is who should be looked up to and that is who will be looked up to, because they earned it through interaction and not through an automatic assumption. There, I guess that sounds better. Chaznoodles
I can see the merit behind this idea, as in making people with the whitelisting to be heads easier to pick out meaning new players can go to them for help. On the other hand, it'll restrict non-whitelisted people from probably ever getting to be a head through IC interactions, and give people the ability to lord over others saying they're 'senior'. Guest
People help each other over LOOC all the time, to be honest. Giving IC characters (Which unlike their player can be hostile) IC titles which reflect an OOC ability to help out newbies is gonna lead to drama. I'd argue helping someone is in its on reward, no need for vanity titles. That's just my opinion, tho. Link to comment
