Add Mechs and more to Operations Bounty List

Hey everyone,

 

I have been playing Machinist recently, as I played roboticist in the past, and I have fallen for the new mech and hardsuit creation system. The process of making mechs is exceptionally more satisfying than what it was with the standalone chassis (Gygax, Odysseus, Durand), and I have been making mechs most of the time for other people to use.

ICly I always assumed all mechs/hardsuits/etc. created in a round were sold to cover costs by the SCC at end of shift (or whenever port comes) as produced goods. Mining collects the materials, which by themselves do not have the best value, and distribute them to Science and the Machinists. Science of course uses them for research as is the point of the Horizon, but the Machinists use them for producing goods for the crew and assumedly sells them off after the shift is over. 

 

So I was wondering if it was at all possible to add items such as mechs, hardsuits or cyborg chassis to the operations bounty list? 

For credit rewards I do not expect anything phenomenal, as I expect the SCC takes most of the cut anyway before giving cash to the Operations department.

Examples could include:

 

"So-and-so wants to plan an expedition but needs some equipment! Please make three EVA Hardsuits!"

"The PMCG needs a mech for training that can take a hit! Make one Heavy Chassis mech!"

"TCFL scout teams want a mech with good terrain mobility! Make a mech with Quadruped Legs!"

 

Hardpoints optional, I do not know how the code would be for this, but I am mainly just asking for the assembled mech/hardsuit anyway, not anything additional. Maybe separate bounties for hardpoints?

Occasionally playing Operations Manager every now and then, I see the issues with the current bounties, honestly.

I would happily take a glance over the current bounty list and modify it and also make any other code changes, should it be wanted, since there could be a lot of possible changes, additions and removals in my eyes. For example, the Phoron bounties? They barely give any credits for what phoron is actually worth, especially the phoron sheet one which I have never seen anyone complete. I also do not see the problem with more additions to it, to give everyone on the Ship more to do if there's nothing actively happening, for example:

- As Noble said, of course, giving machinists more to do and not just randomly wrench around Exosuits, like adding those (with specific parts required) to the current list of possible bounties.

- Adding something like machines that have to be built, like.. "...ship us a finished Telecommunications Hub because of reason X and Y!" just all sorts of machines, which would bring in Science and Engineering (or only science if they ignore Engineering and build the machines themselves) to do more for Operations, since most of the things right now are just stale "Print part X and ship it to us.".

Maybe even altering the bounty system itself in such a way that it's not only possible to get bare credits for the completion of bounties, but also shipments of items as rewards. Or in general adding a small trading system based on the current Region.
