Neves Posted July 19, 2023 Posted July 19, 2023 BYOND Key: Koshi Kaiser Staff BYOND Key: Campinkiller Game ID: Lost. Reason for complaint: The jobban was unfair given the circumstances of those rounds. Evidence/logs/etc: Lost. Additional remarks: I've been playing for the past months as a Pshysician, treated multiple people and today, an Admin comes up to me says that my Medical Play is not good enough, when I was in the middle of treating a patient and had to go AFK due to a urgent reason and a intern was with the patient, the admin disregarded all of that and still said I was playing wrong. I have zero idea what they meant by Medical Play, talking with patient? Treating fast enough? No idea! Later round a Drama in-game happens and issues happens, miscommunications with crewmember and CMO, got told again that my Medical Playstyle was not good enough because I didn't followed a order to inject a medication when there was a CMO and other 3 people around the patient, in none of these occurences the patient died. Later time after that same round I was Jobbanned because I didn't have (as the admin stated) Medical knowledge to be a Pshysician. Despite the fact that I've been playing so long as a pshysician and they decided to say it today, disregarding any playtime I had with that Job.
Peppermint Posted July 19, 2023 Posted July 19, 2023 Hi. I'll be taking this. @CampinKiller Your side when you have a sec
CampinKiller Posted July 19, 2023 Posted July 19, 2023 I can't see round stats, so I cannot speak to how many rounds you have or haven't played, but I've only recalled seeing you once or twice as a medborg. Yesterday, you were spoken to by another staff member regarding poor medical play, where it was noted that you were having difficulty in treating simple injuries. They advised you it might be best to play intern, and you took this as an insult, per them, and disregarded this. The very next round I took a ticket regarding the treatment of a Vaurca Bulwark. You had again showed slow response and difficulty in treating the toxin damage they had taken due to a gremorian bite (you did eventually treat it, though by this point they had serious organ issues), and then assisted the surgeon in surgery. While you did not remove the filter port from the Bulwark, if I recall the logs correctly you did then put them on oxygen, and the Bulwark quickly died. I spoke to you again, saying that you should play an intern role, which you again ignored. During this ticket I was told by other staff members online that you have been displaying poor medical play for some time, but I sympathized with Vaurca being a difficult species to treat, given they are different than everyone else, and decided to give you another chance to decide to play intern on your own. The very next round after that (third round in a row), I take an ahelp from the CMO, stating that you were not listening to them and having issues treating people. I had them send me screenshots over discord, which I'll post below. Spoiler This is again a repeat of the same issue (poor and delayed treatment of injuries, to the point of causing people's health to get worse). You again did eventually inject inaprovaline, but the disregard for superior's orders is yet another issue on top of the poor medical play. The adverse effect you were having on people's rounds by giving them poor treatment, not taking advice from other players, and disregarding superiors is too much to allow you to continue playing as a physician without spending some time in a learner role. You were given two opportunities by myself and another staff member to elect to do so on your own after issues were brought to our attention, so I had little choice but to give you a job ban if you were not going to heed staff and do it yourself. If you'd been playing security like this, you would've been job banned already, that's the sort of adverse effect you were having on people's rounds as a physician.
Neves Posted July 19, 2023 Author Posted July 19, 2023 "but I sympathized with Vaurca being a difficult species to treat, given they are different than everyone else" That case has been resolved with another staff, I cannot partake in the surgery because I was there only to assist if the surgeon told me, it was a Necrosis removal of Kidney and Liver, I didn't got told to do anything because I do not have much confident in treating a Vaulcan, even more that I can't find anything related to them. And as you may be aware I can't do surgery on Liver and Kidney as it states in the wiki page and I was there just to stabilize if needed. I asked help for one of the Doctors and they responded that they were not my servant besides the fact I was helping set up the whole GTR alone and by myself. In the case of the CMO I was too stressed and trully lightheaded in listening things. The CMO did not assist me at all in the case of the other Doctor that was saying things about a dead crewmate and I had interveened saying that it was not right saying those things about other species. The Innaprovaline was a thing that I get too scared to inject because there's a lot of people and can lead to overdose, wich happened multiple times to me because there were multiple personnels in one patient. Besides, the Arm was cybernetic I have no knowledge in treating cybernetic arms because it's a Machinist's job. CMO did not resolved the case and just told everyone to shut up.
Peppermint Posted July 19, 2023 Posted July 19, 2023 I don't really see an issue. Looks to me you're pretty shaky on medical still and it's led to some problems, so playing intern for a while seems just fine. Do it for a few weeks to a month and you'll be unbanned on appeal I'd imagine. More than enough here through notes and whatnot to feel Campin did not make the wrong call. I'll close this tomorrow provided there's no new evidence.
La Villa Strangiato Posted July 19, 2023 Posted July 19, 2023 Hi there. I was given permission to post this by Peppermint. I play Sralza Kassaka, the CMO. First, I do apologise that you got job-banned. Believe me when I say it brings me no joy to bug mods about bad play, especially when I (having played this game for a very cringey amount of time) have my fair share of blunders. I don't like being a gatekeeper over a twenty year old spaceman game. That said, your medical gameplay is pretty shaky, and it seems like you don't take suggestions to improve very well. The first thing that jumped out at me, this round we're referring to, was when Sralza asked Neves to "please hang up some medical masks on the IV stands". I was under the impression I phrased this request politely, and it was Sralza's intent to simply politely remind someone about what they might have forgotten. Your response to this was something along the lines of "Thank you Livesey for setting up the GTR", clearly meant to be read as sarcastic. In this complaint, you proceed to recall that "besides the fact I was helping set up the whole GTR alone and by myself". As a physician, this is your job, and I have to be honest with you that it is really not hard to set up the GTR. You have to fill oxygen tanks, put blood bags, medical masks, and oxygen tanks on the IV stands, apply vitals monitors to the beds, and perhaps turn on stasis beds if you really feel like being a filthy powergamer. These take a few clicks of buttons. 3 hours ago, Neves said: The CMO did not assist me at all in the case of the other Doctor that was saying things about a dead crewmate and I had interveened saying that it was not right saying those things about other species. This was purely an in-character issue. From my OOC impression of the event, two Vaurca miners died out on a mission, and Chenzhang-Zhao, one of the surgeons, stated they were idiots because they were Bulwarks. Livesey proceeded to tell this to Nizhaa Zo'ra, the other surgeon, in a way that Nizhaa interpreted to be Livesey calling the Bulwarks idiots for dying. Nizhaa came to speak to Sralza about the issue, and Sralza gained the impression that Livesey had made this "lol dumb bug died" comment. I should also mention that Avelka, the first responder had been telling Sralza that Chenzhang-Zhao and Livesey had been making passive-aggressive comments at each other for the entire round up to that point. Being fed up that none of them were acting like adults, Sralza dressed them both down and told Livesey and Chenzhang-Zhao that it was unacceptable to make comments like that about the dead, and it was just as unacceptable that they had been arguing for most of the shift. From your post, I get the impression that this interaction might have stressed you out. I am not my character, and what she says does not reflect on you as a person. My character, who is your character's boss, was telling her underlings to be polite even if they don't like each other. That's it. The rest of this is honestly pretty rote. You say you were scared to inject for fear of overdosing someone; call out what you inject, and use the scanner to see what amount of medicine someone has in them. You keep bringing up the prosthetic arm of a patient and I don't know why, given I recall the arm just had some moderate damage, and what I wanted from you at the time was to make sure a person who was going into shock was able to be stabilized. As CampinKiller said, your general problem seems to be that you struggle to parse what to do and you have a slow response time, which means people's injuries get worse. When you do treat them, you often make gaffes such as giving ten units of mortaphenyl for minor physical trauma. There are other issues that I've seen and been told of, such as a tendency to walk right into danger (getting shot up by hivebots despite me telling medical to stay back, walking into a potential black k'ois infection with just a cloth mask and apparently no knowledge of what black k'ois was), but these are the big ones that stick out to me. Again, I'm sorry that you got jobbanned, it definitely sucks to have that told to you. I don't know if a job-ban also means you can't play a medical intern, but I would recommend doing that whenever you get the opportunity, and getting some people to show you the ropes. There's a few guides (here and here) that you can read up on to help you get an idea of how this system works, and you can always ask questions ICly, in LOOC, or in the Department Hub Discord that's attached to the official Aurora Discord. Have a good day.
