Vulcenus
Reporting Personnel: Ronald Monday Job Title of Reporting Personnel: Security Officer Game ID: coX-aMPs Personnel Involved: - Fyodor Koesvyin (Offender) - Arete Pavlites (Witness) - Karl Voight (Witness) - Elliot Keles (Witness) - Elwood Johnson (Witness) Secondary Witnesses: - Eva Meier (Witnessed the Hivebot Invasion response through ship cameras.) - Ana Roh'hi'tin (Witnessed the Hivebot Invasion response through ship cameras.) Time of Incident: Approximately 04.30 AM (Ship Time) Real Time: Approximately 08.00 AM GMT+3 Location of Incident: Engineering - Atmospherics / Air Mixing Nature of Incident: [x] - Workplace Hazard [x] - Accident/Injury [ ] - Destruction of Property [x] - Neglect of Duty [ ] - Harassment [ ] - Assault [x] - Misconduct [ ] - Other _____ (Place an x in the box that applies. If other, replace line and specify.) Overview of the Incident: During the early morning shift today, we have received an alert regarding a hivebot invasion in Engineering's Air Mixing room which is a part of Atmospherics on Deck 1. After confirming the hivebot presence is real and elevating the alert code to blue, we quickly moved to the Armory to respond to the threat as fast as possible, given the critical location of the invasion. Upon entering the Armory and equipping myself with a machine pistol, a .45 calibre handgun and a laser rifle, I was informed by Elwood Johnson, our Warden, that the Head of Security ordered us to only take laser weaponry from the Armory to respond to the Hivebot threat. I was requested by Johnson to put the ballistic weaponry back, but I've ignored his request and took the firearms with me anyway, as I believed that firing heated energy beams from a laser rifle is more dangerous than ballistic ammunition, as the tanks kept in there are impact resistant. In addition, in my experience with responding to Hivebot threats on the Horizon and SCC Aurora previously showed me that you can never have enough ammunition while handling the Hivebot threat, as the situation get out of hand very fast with the rapid appearance of Hivebot reinforcements and underwhelming firepower. I say this as someone who's been left for dead in a plasma fire caused by Hivebots in my previous workplace by my co-workers, and I could not and will not stand that happening to anybody else. As the situation called for timely response, I swiftly departed from the Armory with my "uncalled for" firearms to respond to the Hivebots in Atmospherics. Upon arrival, I've found the rest of the officers already engaging the threat, while the First Responders were trying to evacuate the injured from the scene. After allowing the First Responder to move Atmospheric Technician Donny Willey who was injured during the fight out of the room, I walked in and immediately saw the responding officers injured and incapacitated; therefore I took the initiative and stepped forward to provide covering fire on the hivebots circling the officers and the beacon itself while they were being escorted outside. After successfully taking the officers in danger out of the scene, I proceeded to take out the remaining hivebots and the beacon itself and attended to my own injuries, which wouldn't have been successful if I hadn't "smuggled" my ballistic weaponry out of the Armory in the first place and would cause excessive injuries and damage to the personnel and ship equipment, which could have been potentially catastrophic given the proximity of the beacon to the air reservoir. After resolving the situation, I was confronted by Fyodor Koesvyin in the Brig about my choice of weaponry, and I was questioned regarding my decision to take a .45 handgun out of the Armory to respond to the threat. He then proceeded to order me to apologize to him directly about my behaviour, completely ignoring the fact that a security officer was killed during the Hivebot infestation, despite First Responders' best efforts, which could have been potentially averted had Koesvyin not committed misconduct by failing to equip us adequately to respond to the threat. This made me lose my temper for a moment and verbally assault the Head of Staff at the gross indifference to the situation that was caused by his misconduct, which resulted in my suspension and charge of i111 and i109. I do not regret my decision regarding this matter. Submitted Evidence: Transcript from an Interview conducted by Arete Pavlites, involving Elwood Johnson. Quote Transcript: [00:00] Recording started. [00:55] Arete Pavlides says, "This is Arete Pavlides, asset protection manager, employee ID two-two-dash-seven-five-one-oh. Employee, please state your name, assignment, and corporation of employment. In the case of the PMC group, state your subsidary." [01:20] Elwood Johnson says, "I'm Elwood Johnson, Warden, and I work for the PCMG's Wildlands Group." [01:46] Arete Pavlides asks, "Thank you. What was the name and assignment of our casualty today?" [01:54] Elwood Johnson says, "(JANE DOE), Security Officer." [02:14] Elwood Johnson says, "Former KDF, I believe. I never got to ask." [03:13] Arete Pavlides asks, "Understood. When the sensors array alerted the ship of a hivebot infestation, do you remember any specific communique from Ms. (DOE)?" [03:24] Elwood Johnson says, "She said she was going to handle it with the rest of the team." [03:32] Arete Pavlides 's tone is low and dispassionate. This is something she's done many, many times. [03:54] Arete Pavlides asks, "Mm. Okay. Did she immediately move to the area of the threat, that being... Engineering Air Mixing?" [03:58] Elwood Johnson says, "Yes." [04:33] Arete Pavlides asks, "Did she report to you for armaments, such as reflective armour or surplus weaponry?" [04:46] Elwood Johnson says, "She did, she took riot armor." [04:56] Elwood Johnson says, "And an energy carbine." [05:24] Arete Pavlides asks, "Understood. Mr. Johnson, were there any security officers you did not arm prior to a response?" [05:37] Elwood Johnson says, "No ma'am there were not. All of them reported for neccesary armaments." [05:55] Elwood Johnson says, "In fact, the only reason more of them didn't die is because Monday took a ballistic weapon that he wasn't supposed to have." [06:03] Arete Pavlides says, "...Hm." [06:07] Elwood Johnson says, "Commander wanted us to stick with lasers, you see. Cost (JANE DOE) her life most likely..." [06:39] Arete Pavlides asks, "Did Commander Koesvyin specifically state that he wanted you to bring exclusively laser weaponry?" [06:46] Elwood Johnson says, "Yes." [06:53] Elwood Johnson says, "He ordered them specifically to take laser weapons only." [07:12] Arete Pavlides asks, "Right. Were there any specific requests he made for armor?" [07:21] Elwood Johnson says, "No, he didn't specify armor." [07:28] Arete Pavlides says, "Understood, understood." [07:34] Elwood Johnson says, "(JANE DOE) took riot armor on her own - it's acceptable for the situation, I'd say. It wasn't her fault." [08:35] Arete Pavlides asks, "Perfectly reasonable. Could you explain the statement that Mr. Monday's weapon saved the lives of the crew? And-- why do you believe that Commander Koesvyin's decision led to Ms. (DOE)i's death?" [08:47] Elwood Johnson asks, "Being interviewed by corporate rep about loss of a crewmember, is it urgent?" [09:20] Elwood Johnson says, "Uh, Yeah. Someone else said that, one of the responding officers. Don't remember who." [09:42] Elwood Johnson says, "I think our Commander was too conservative, hivebots are a big deal. He should have had us use whatever weapons we needed to eliminate the threat." [10:14] Arete Pavlides asks, "I see. And how did you know that Mr. Monday had a weapon he wasn't authorised to have?" [10:18] Arete Pavlides asks, "Did you provide it to him?" [10:21] Elwood Johnson says, "It was announced over the radio." [10:30] Arete Pavlides asks, "Okay. Do you know how he got it?" [11:02] Elwood Johnson says, "Well, initially I did. I opened up all the lockers in the armory before Commander ordered lasers only. I told him to put his weapon that he took back, he didn't listen. I didn't think he had a ballistic weapon at the time." [11:17] Arete Pavlides says, "Ah. So it was a spur-of-the-moment sort of thing." [11:23] Elwood Johnson says, "I-" [11:28] Arete Pavlides says, "Probably a xeno gun." [11:32] Elwood Johnson says, "Probably." [11:42] Arete Pavlides says, "Xenofauna gun." [11:58] Elwood Johnson says, "Well, I was going to say that the Commander probably had it in mind and only gave the order when he saw I was already handing out all the weapons." [12:05] Elwood Johnson says, "I don't know for sure, of course." [12:32] Arete Pavlides says, "The weird slug was probably a greimorian jackal. They're not venomous." [13:19] Arete Pavlides asks, "...Anyway. So you assume he gave you the order to exclusively hand out laser weaponry, a short time after you opened the armoury?" [13:31] Arete Pavlides says, "Belay that, first officer." [13:42] Arete Pavlides says, "I have some information you might find interesting." [13:45] Elwood Johnson says, "He gave the order just after I opened the lockers, yes. Both of us were there and so was (JANE DOE), Monday, and the rest." [13:59] Arete Pavlides says, "I will, once I'm finished talking with Johnson." [14:04] Elwood Johnson says, "Keep him. Will deal with - wait, Monday? Explain it when I get out." [14:21] Elwood Johnson says, "What is Monday in for? Give me the short version." [14:25] Arete Pavlides says, "Ahhh. Now, did I ask this already..." [14:27] Elwood Johnson says, "Wait." [14:34] Arete Pavlides asks, "Or did he say why he only wanted laser weaponry used?" [14:36] Elwood Johnson says, "Okay, wait for me then." [14:40] Elwood Johnson says, "No." [14:46] Elwood Johnson says, "Also, Monday has just been arrested for not following that order." [14:47] Arete Pavlides says, "Mmm..." [14:59] Arete Pavlides says, "I'm aware. Well-- I appreciate this new perspective, Mr. Johnson." [15:10] Recording stopped.
