Doomberg's Head Whitelist Application

Recommended Posts

BYOND key: Doomberg

Character names:

Avery Dawkins - Warden

William Stamos - EMT

Sawyer Stafford - Xenoarchaeologist

How long have you been playing on Aurora?: About a month thus far.

Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: I'd like to be on the whitelist in order to expand my roleplay possibilities, along with offering a much-needed command presence occasionally, as this is often lacking.

Why did you come to Aurora?: I came here in search of a decently active Space Station 13 RP server that I didn't find cringe-worthy or generally distasteful. I'd like to stay because I think I've found it, and I thoroughly enjoy it.

Have you read the BS12 wiki on the head roles you plan on playing?: I have.

Please provide well articulated and argumented answers to the following questions in a paragraph each.

Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: As I see it, roleplay is getting into the role of a fictional character for the sake of wish fulfillment or simply for the sake of enjoyment. Roleplay should be about character development, and, at the most fundamental level, having fun. It's a form of escapism more than anything.

What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: I believe that the OOC purpose of a Head ingame is to be a guide and a leader to his department simultaneously, offering training to those new in the field, coordinating everyone in the department in question and offering his 'subordinates' ample amounts of roleplaying opportunities. Having someone for each department to answer to ensures that all departments are functioning within normal parameters while also adding a degree of accountability to members of the departments in question, which is often necessary.

What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: I believe whitelisted players should be there to more or less guarantee the enjoyment of their fellow players, along with offering them a good example of roleplay and decent rule-abiding conduct. I would strive to uphold these responsibilities by following the community's rules and regulations while trying my best to maintain a good standard of roleplay.

Please pick one of your characters for this section, and provide well articulated responses to the following questions.

Character name: Avery Dawkins

Character age: 31

Please provide a short biography of this character (approx 2 paragraphs):

Avery Dawkins was born thirty one years ago in Mendell City, the capital of the planet Biesel, to a pair of local medical doctors. Owing to the occupation of his parents, he had a relatively comfortable and leisurely childhood. During his school days, his performance was satisfactory, though far from remarkable. In terms of fields of interest, Avery gravitated towards law and its application.

Upon coming of age, when faced with the decision of choosing a future career, Avery, against the insistence of his parents, decided to sign up with local law enforcement, spending several years in training before becoming a full fledged officer. Following seven years of service with local forces, having a spotless record, he was offered an opportunity for employment by Nanotrasen, which he then chose to accept.

What do you like about this character?: I like the fact that he can be professional and articulate and can perform his duties appropriately without feeling like a cold, soulless husk of justice. Despite his usual professionalism, he still feels like a human being with a sense of humor and ambitions other than merely getting through the day. He also has a general aptitude for command.

What do you dislike about this character?: I dislike the fact that he's practically bound to his office all day and, for the most part, is barred from field work. He sometimes avoids otherwise reasonable courses of action for the sake of not screwing anything up - IE, he's the type to mail command before doing anything remotely non-standard or questionable. He also has a tendency of becoming extremely aggressive when someone harms his subordinates, as was probably witnessed by a few people by now.

Do you think this character is fit to be a Head of Staff? (Please note that Head characters must be over 30, unless given special clearance): Yes

Why?:

I believe he is fit to be a Head of Staff because he's already in a position that requires in-depth knowledge of Standard Operating Procedure and regulations, along with having somewhat of an aptitude for command plus the experience required to back it up.

Please provide well articulated and argumented answers to the following questions.

How would you rate your own roleplaying?: As I despise any sort of self-praise, I'll call it what it objectively is - 'experienced'. I've been roleplaying constantly for the past six years and I believe I have what it takes to do so in an adequate fashion for the position I am applying for.

Extra notes: please don't force me to warden anymore there is no god
