How long have you been playing on Aurora? 2020? 2021?

Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they?

Spoiler

Day banned in 2021 for lighting a phoron fire as revenant, after reviewing screenshots/shadowplay it was the sparking light fixture that started the fire. I did not appeal this ban at the time and just ate it.

Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each.

What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?
Heads of Staff exist to coordinate, delegate, and plug gaps in both mechanical and knowledge-based holes in their respective departments (provided it is reasonable knowledge for the character). Additionally, heads of staff with command-level privileges and access can, when used appropriately, enable or escalate antagonist gimmicks beyond the level of the mundane crew (think big picture merc gimmicks, etc.). They should also be communicative in pursuing this, as their ability to instantly communicate with other departments via the rest of command means they can better maintain departmental and crew cohesion, especially during times of crises, and help promote mechanically "good" play.

What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?
Being entrusted with command-level decision making power means that command-level characters should act realistically and responsibly within reason for their characters. Command players in particular should be toeing the line between enabling antagonist play without "throwing" the round for their department, promoting fun and good roleplay for those involved. As my trial character will be HoS, I will strive to do that aforementioned line-toeing as an extension of my normal sec play.

Explain how the recent events in the Spur changed your character and how they came to be employed on the SCCV Horizon.
The recent expansion of Hephaestus finds Meng Jie transferred onto the Horizon in support of its exploration efforts. Once an industrial shipbuilder from the Solarian Alliance, a freak assembly line accident cost him an arm within months of his fire. As fate would have it, he soon sought new opportunities within the company as a security officer, stationed on various backwater mining facilities to provide site security. Years would pass, and he'd rise in responsibility until he oversaw entire platforms, and to extend Hephaestus's influence within the SCC to new ground, there were few better candidates to send to the Horizon.

What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted?
Head of Security

Chief Medical Officer (possibly, due to Nov 2 ruling)

Consular (possibly, due to two consular PR)

Have you familiarized yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles?
Yes. I have primarily played security during my time here, and I understand the obligations, expectations, and responsibilities of the roles therein for purposes of my trial.
Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking:

Spoiler

Meng Jie - Head of Security - Hepht.

Melvin Chang (prospective) - Chief Medical Officer - Zeng-Hu

Tal Yahalom (prospective) - Consular - Coalition of Colonies

Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action?
Yes.

Have you linked your BYOND account to the Forums?
I think so?

Apologies for letting this sit for so long, it was somehow missed. Everything seems fine here except for your prospective promotion of Tal Yahalom to Coalition Consular. That is something that the Command WL team does not feel is an appropriate development. You are welcome to reach out to one of us to discuss it if you would like.

On-trial from 3 January 2024 - 10 January 2024. Try to play your command character as much as you can during this week, and do not forget that you can post your application in OOC once per round to gather feedback. Good luck.
