Doomday1236
BYOND key: Doomday1236 Discord Username: Jager7815, my in server is Coalition.EXE Character names: Essie Porter (hopefully jacob callahan) How long have you been playing on Aurora? November/ December of last year, not sure Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? I received a warnings on serveral occasions, most of them from where i was new, i would like to think i have improved myself as of recent and would like to be given a chance What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame? i think that a head of staff, such as the head of security, is to maintain peace and order aboard the ship, they are to maintain a position of command within their respective departments, this could mean prioritising certain research studies or disciplining crew members within their departments, the are to lead their departments and make sure the work their departments are assigned to is done What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them? i believe that WL players should strive for a higher level of role play, this would mean conducting your job as best as you can manage whilst also not abusing authority that you may be given whilst also having fun and being mindful of other players around you and using your abilities to give them the best role play experience you can. Explain how the recent events in the Spur changed your character and how they came to be employed on the SCCV Horizon. i have not made a full lore as of yet, but i wish Mr Callahan to be a bridge crew that was promoted on another ship due to that ship having pirate issues, when he became captain he flew that ship for a dew years before being transfered to the SCCV Horizon, i plan on replacing this text with a full lore once it is finished What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? captain. Have you familiarized yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles? indeed, i think i will be able to demonstrate competence and reliability within the role of captain Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking: Jacob Callahan, Captain Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? i understand completely. Have you linked your BYOND account to the Forums? i dont think so, but i will check and link it after posting this Link to comment
La Villa Strangiato
You give me the impression that you're new to a "high-roleplay" environment. With that in mind, I would like to take this opportunity to give you some pointers about what might be expected from people who play on a persistent setting, and why I don't think you're suited for a command whitelist. Please don't take offense to anything I say in this post; I promise I do not mean it as an attack on you. I am simply trying to tell you what to expect and how you might improve your roleplay in order to have more fun with Aurora. Most of what I've seen of Essie Porter shows that you don't get the limitations of our setting and the limitations that are placed on a character when they are employed with the SCC. A recent incident report involving Essie shows that she unprompted called her superiors "bureaucrat scum" and spat on a head of security. This is definitely not the kind of conduct a sane character would have if they were employed directly with the Stellar Corporate Conglomerate. An employee with the Stellar Corporate Conglomerate is highly vetted and screened to ensure they can be trusted with being in a command role, or being bridge crew. Since Essie is your only character, and you only play bridge crewman, that means both players and the command whitelist team don't know your roleplay beyond the reputation I've mentioned you cultivated. If people only know you from a character who makes decisions that aren't very reasonable, given what they're expected to be within the setting, that means people do not trust you with an important role like command. Also, playing command means you should have a good grasp of most of the game mechanics. Nobody is asking you to be really good at all the departments, but when you play a Captain you should at least understand how the departments generally work, and what goes on with them. When you only play one character, you might not understand Aurora's gameplay very well. Your application in general is very bare-bones and does not provide an indication of what your character does or how recent events in the Orion Spur have effected them. When you are making an application, it is a good idea to have all the fields fully complete. This shows that you have a general understanding of the lore as it is presented to you. Where is Jacob Callahan from? Is he Solarian? Biesellite? How old is he? What is his personal goal? Why did he become employed with the SCCV Horizon? These are questions that you should ask yourself before making any character. If you've played tabletop roleplaying games before, or taken drama/theatre classes in school, making a character is similar. You have to think of a motivation, why they act the way they do, and where they came from. Lastly, I would recommend you improve on your grammar, spelling, and punctuation. When you are writing an application, you can use apps like Grammarly or an automated spellchecking tool to make sure you are capitalizing I's, using proper grammar, and spelling words correctly. English is not everybody's first language, but this helps you seem like you have put some effort into your writing. I wish you luck with any future applications, and I hope you enjoy playing on Aurora. It's okay if you don't, because everyone has different tastes. 1 Link to comment
Owen
Application denied due to being largely incomplete. Additionally, @La Villa Strangiato provides some good feedback here in general, highlighting many of the same concerns that I and the rest of the Command WL Team share. We'd like to see you branching out a bit more with potentially a variety of characters and working to get them established. If you have any questions moving forward, feel free to reach out to me on Discord. I look forward to seeing a future application from you. Link to comment
