Overview of the Incident:

Prior to the main incident, Simun Arsams reported over the command channel that officer Morgan was being chased by an unknown officer with an engaged stun baton. This was directly witnessed by a crewman he did not name but claimed was trusted. Leonides responded that he would investigate and some time later when asked for an update by Arsams, Leonides said he found the offending officer in question and talked with them, no further information was given. It's unknown if this was related.

Later in the shift, Azarii walked past holodeck alpha while Morgan had a stun baton engaged, facing another officer who was standing behind entryway shutters, blocking view. They both turned to face Azarii before stepping away to engage the privacy tint. Simun Arsams was present and so when Azarii reported suspicious activity over the command channel, he responded that there was a fight occurring over a fire. A crewman then announced that there was a duel ongoing, to which Morgan replied that he was training to defeat Eegeesiak. Azarii believed Leonides Montaigne-Ramsteinn was on deck two at the time, and so she checked the holodeck camera. After briefly witnessing light sparring with no violence at play, Azarii disengaged from the situation and went to holodeck beta to check out the new combat simulation program as alpha was in use. About three minutes passed. After some difficulty with deck betas programs, Azarii went to deck alpha and witnessed a majority of the crew lined against the viewing windows looking into a modified snow-field holographic projection, somehow removed of all obstacles. Within the projection were officers Morgan and Eegeesiak facing eachother from either side of the deck, with officer Styles seeming to be overseeing the two from the center. Head of Security Montaigne-Ramsteinn was watching from the viewing platform alongside the crew. A crewman informed Azarii that the two were simply sparring.

From here, officer Eegeesiak was witnessed saying things such as "I will hit you as hard as possible." "The medics can't help you" and "Are you sure you wish to proceed" among others, in a goading but monotone manner. These are not direct quotes, but they were notable. Officer Morgan did reply with provocative comments himself, however the specifics are unknown. At this time Azarii assumed it would be a wrestling match of sorts, as both parties were unarmed and removed their gloves. The two clearly had a negative attitude towards eachother given their speech and posture which should have been noticeable to most of the room. Upon starting their fight without outside assistance, both parties immediately moved to full-contact fighting utilizing punches primarily aimed to the head and face. No sort of hand-wraps or boxing gloves were used to reduce injury. Chokeholds and other grappling occurred but did not escalate, neither party were able to accomplish much other than standing strikes to eachother. Azarii decided to stay to directly witness the events as she had no tools to record evidence with. After a few minutes of fighting, officer Morgan had a bloodied face from repeated punches to the nose and cheeks, this spilled blood onto his uniform but was not severe. Throughout the fight officer Morgan made repeated comments towards Eegeesiak such as "why do you hate me so much?" Officer Eegeesiak did not reply and instead took advantage of these vulnerable moments to hit him more. The fighting occurred for at least five minutes, possibly longer.

Head of Security Montaigne-Ramsteinn was seeming unaware of his surroundings when the fight started, however he was actively watching the fight occur for at least a minute before his interfering, including a stop in the fight where other viewing crewmen started to jeer and provoke the two officers for stopping to talk. Officerr Eegeesiak made a threatening comment towards Morgan before the fight resumed, and after around twenty seconds Montaigne-Ramsteinn then jumped the railing to stop the fight. Only then did the other two viewing officers step in and say anything. Seeing the intervention of their commanding officer, Azarii stepped away as it seemed he would take further action. Instead, Montaigne-Ramsteinn near immediately announced that the situation was "handled" over the command channel to Simun Arsams who seemed disappointed at the violence and had left. Hearing this, Azarii determined to escalate this to a report as she felt his conduct was inappropriate for both seeming to sanction this fight, and for failing to take action where it would have been appropriate after clear and repeated escalation beyond a simple sparring match. This incident was highly emotionally charged and during the fight multiple secondary witnesses were heard asking why they were fighting in the first place, and questioning if this was still a sparring match.

Later in the shift, Azarii was at the bar discussing the incident with Coldsmith when Eegeesiak admitted to having broken Morgans nose twice before in similar fights. He then claimed that he had been challenged to a duel today by Morgan as the subject the crew were discussing was related to dominian honour duels. Multiple comments were made about how Morgan would die if they were allowed to engage in a proper duel. Officer Eegeesiak was very open about his disdain for officer Morgan, however he claimed to have been repeatedly challenged to duels by Morgan and was thus compelled to engage in violence to defend his honour as he had been greatly insulted.

Submitted Evidence: N/A - witness testimony only

Would you like to be personally interviewed?
[X] - Yes
[ ] - No

Did you report it to a Head of Staff or a superior? If so, who? If not, why?

No, the only applicable head of staff, Montaigne-Ramsteinn, was involved and his conduct is included in the report, so a direct report for unbiased action seemed the best option.

Actions taken:

Witnessed incident and began notating facts up to, during, and after the incident. Talked with multiple crewmen to gather information about what caused the fight. Learned of rivalry between the offending officers which was previously only known of through Morgans relay history.

Additional Notes:
It is believed that this is at least the third instance of these two crewmen fighting with unrestrained force. Taylor Morgan has discussed getting his nose broken twice, and Kallik Eegeesiak has verbally stated today that he broke Morgans nose twice before. No corrective or punitive action seems to have taken place. This seems like an extremely inappropriate way to handle conflict between crewmen when we have the regulations and procedures for hashing out this sort of thing already.
