Last_stand_crew Posted September 21 Posted September 21 (edited) BYOND Ckey: Stationworker337 Discord username: Last stand crew Character names: Amy Veir, (Mr.))) William Freeman Species you are applying to play: IPC ------------------------------ Now, something you really should know about me to understand my writing: english isn't my first language and i'm pretty bad at it, so remembering the ask for well articulated answers i may do it wrong, so i'm sorry in advance, back to the application. ------------------------------ General Whitelist Requirements Have you read the lore pages for the species you wish to be whitelisted for?: yes Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this species?: 1. Playing only on one species (i have no whitelist on any species right now) sometimes gets boring, so i want to try something new; 2. I have played this species on other builds, including more RP focused like baystation, so i have some experience with that; 3. Playing as a synthetically created person, coming from personality, not human, many people return to this problem: machine is commonly considered not alive, but what if it has a personality? There are many projects like films, games and books, that raise a question about this, let's remember old classic "I, Robot" from Isaac Asimov, but these same projects also illustrate other side of synthetic life, like "Matrix" or "Terminator", where machines aren't "restricted" with feelings, emotions, and instincts, those think only efficiently, what i want to say with this is it's an interesting experience, i had to interact with players who played on IPCs, someone acted like human, some acted like complete full "stupid" machines, i want to try it myself now. What makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a human?: Compacting, rewinding and rethinking about what i mentioned in third paragraph of previous question, synthetics, let's say, biologically, aren't considered alive, and some people think like it, then others think more philosophically, like "I think so i'm alive" treat synthetics like somewhat equal to them, some treat them as a potential threat, etc. I want to say with this that, first off, others approach you differently, sometimes significantly differently, and second, coming from the paragraph again, usually, you have more options for your character, because your base isn't restricted with being a human, you can be dead-hearted machine, you can have feelings, you're not human, you are different. ------------------------------ Character Application Character Name: E.M.I.L.Y. Write a backstory for your character. This may include their origin, education, personality and how they arrived to the SCCV Horizon. Emily (is a brain, I.ntegrated in a **shell model** P.ositronic C.hassis) was constructed in 2451 at planet Biesel by some robotic company for a commercial medical company, specialized as nurse, named by workers, who thought it'd be funny if the name was not only human, but also an acronym. Emily's job was pretty simple: get something, assist somewhere, babysit someone. But company administration soon realised, that their robot gets damaged much by accidents, little negligences of co-workers, customers, so after ten years of work Emily wasn't really repaired, and most of the time was all in clothes, only showing that face with long gone smile, because facial expressions system repairs were mostly stopped too. After another five years Emily was in so bad condition and could only do some cargo job, because already scared customers, and eventually got sold. After being sold for almost no price because of condition Emily was sent for a fundamental repair right away (and it costed around 70 k standart credits, now let's remember how much does usually a new shell model IPC cost))). New owner was a veteran of Biesel invasion, his name was George. George was a 76 year old man, who bought Emily for housework. After some time it was fully clear that George won't last long, since he got a brain cancer. George was desperate for leaving something behind him, so he freed Emily and gave a will of all his possesions (giving last one order: live). Some time later, Emily was wandering around, working part-time jobs, looking for something that would fit, and someday, while taking a walk somewhere outside a city, Emily got in the center of a gunfight. Emily ran to a nearest cover, only to realise, that it is already used, and got disabled by an EM pulse. After activating, first thing sensors realised was the fact that shell has no damages, but most systems were locked. some time later Emily realises that the thing happened was two PMCs fighting each other, one of which was from PMCG. The one, who recovered Emily was one of Sekhmet IG workers, and, after a little chatter, they offered a job in their company... A couple of days, and Emily decided to say "yes", and, after acclimatisation period, signed up on Horizon as an EMT trainee. Maybe that is the job... How has the recent events of the Orion Spur impacted your character? Events such as the Phoron Scarcity, the Solarian Collapse or even the Invasions of Biesel for interstellar-wide affairs, while region-specific events such as the Peacekeeper Mandate, The Titan Rises or even Cold Dawn may impact your character. Emily was owned by a company and wasn't informed of anything much, always working, always on duty, most she could know was some rumors from patients, co-workers, but that's mostly it. Emily's next owner George wasn't talking much about politics (rather about life, death, glass of vodka on the table (local joke)), and after getting the freedom Emily actually didn't spend much time, the fateful day came pretty soon, so Emily knows from little to zero, and it didn't affect her much... How does your character view the megacorporation they work for? Emily doesn't think much about that, but could say one thing: "Despite it being called a corporation, PMCG is a group of PMCs and the one i'm working in is mostly commercial medical aid company... Nothing much about it." Edited September 23 by Last_stand_crew

The Stryker Posted September 25 Posted September 25 Hi and thanks for applying. Unfortunately, there are some concerns for the application. Quote What makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a human?: Could you expand on this more from the lore aspect? How do IPCs learn? How do IPCs develop a personality? How are they treated? Additionally, there are some major concerns over Emily's backstory. How was Emily treated at their place of work? An IPC's personality and behavior is heavily affected by their early years. A minor detail, but what company was Emily built by, and which company did they work for? It seems unlikely that George was a veteran of the invasion of Biesel, as he would have been 71 years old at the time. Which city on Biesel did Emily live in? Biesel does not have any cities where PMCG engages in open warfare against rival PMCs. In general, the application does not explain tell enough about Emily as a person and has a backstory that seems unlikely in the setting. For now, the application is denied, but feel free to reapply in three days and contact myself or any member of the team if you have concerns or questions.
