Lilly Evans Posted Thursday at 17:15 Posted Thursday at 17:15 (edited) I feel like this is overdue for posting and now that I'm back from hiatus: LETS GET SKROGGIN'! Ckey: Shajo Discord: vespergoldenrod 1. What skills can you bring to the Skrell Lore team? I've got a long history of creative writing and world building under my belt with an attitude of 'I prefer working together to create'! I'm a team player, I love drumming up new crazy ideas to bounce off everyone, and I am certainly not afraid to receive constructive criticism. I know this doesn't sound like a lot, I'm real bad at upselling myself. 2. What part of Skrell Lore interests you the most? I can't just pick ONE part, but Skrell religion has ALWAYS fascinated me and been one of my largest focuses when rp'ing a skrell. The fact it's one part science and another religion is just something I absolutely love (Woo Qeblak!) I've actually done some fun RP stuff with that (setting beds in the chapel with a projector to invite people to gaze at the stars and discuss what they see). Their mythology is super neat too! Outside of that, I would say academia is probably the topic that fascinates me the most about skrell. How long they go to school, the intensity of their education, the implications of skrell studying in human centric regions that don't have Federation support and how that may stunt them! 3. What part of Skrell Lore would you like to expand or develop further? I've actually talked to Pope Dave about this recently and I'd love to push some more development in the Traverse. Namely: Smugglers and trafficking. My idea here was smugglers offering to take low sci individuals out of the Federation to worlds where their SCI does not matter and they can get a better life without surveillance from above. Aka: A fresh start. This, of course, is a bold faced lie and allows these traffickers to abscond Skrell away to uncharted (habital) moons and planetoids to be utilized as forced labor. Especially after the Kala shenanigans in the Warbling, I feel that the traverse is prime for some 'I want to get away but don't know how' exploitation. 4. What part of Skrell Lore would you like to remove or rework? I don't want to remove any of the lore at this time, however I'd like to rework foreign education a good deal. I found that 'those who don't have access to Skrellian private educational facilities have to learn from their quya' has always been an iffy way of dealing with this. Schooling, even for Skrell, is three parts knowledge and one part social. Competition between peers drives healthy pursuit of knowledge! I'd like to see this changed to skrell still attending human/other species educational institutions if only because the social dynamic of it is important to an individuals growth. I believe this should be supplemented, at great expense in time, by the quya. The Federation should, in my opinion, offer to send additional materials to any quya raising their young outside of Federation space who does not have access to privatized institutions. This would, of course, include better materials for those families of higher SCI who might be abroad for a multitude of reasons but could not return. For those who have sought asylum elsewhere from the Federation, these should be available for a hefty fee (Because the federation should not be above helping these individuals while pushing the point that they are making a mistake by turning away from their people). I previously mentiond Srom school as well in the lorechat and think this could be something integrated here where private institutions are available for Skrell. For those who do not have full educational facilities in their region, Srom School (Think cram schools but in your sleep) could be a way for Skrellian quya's to ensure their young recieve the things that human schools are not able to properly impart in their lectures and lessons. 5. Provide a 2-3 paragraph long sample of your writing. This can be basically anything, so long as it’s related to the Nralakk Federation. Omens... Such a crude word for the potential ramifications of the alignments of celestial bodies. Yet one could not deny the spiritual influence that said alignments had upon those who dwelled within their sphere of influence. Starkeeper Wryll'Qryn tapped a stylus against their tablet, an absent minded gesture as they observed the data being logged by their telescope. There had been an unusual amount of cosmic phenomena as of late, distortions through the Nlom field that were barely perceptible save to those of finely honed psionic capability. It was no surprise the Starkeepers had felt it, they were likely the most psionically gifted out of their entire species. Still... The fact there had been something to feel had raised an alarm within the observatory. It was just under forty-eight hours since the initial ripple had been felt. Not a soul had slept since. Wryll'Qryn transferred the data to his tablet and swiftly trotted towards the primary display, joining a small host of other Observatory analysts who gazed upon a projection of the Nralakk system. Most had their headtails folded about their throats, the psionic pressure of their combined stress was wrecking having on the local Nlom, they would not be capable of keeping their findings secret for any extensive amount of time. "An anomalous reading has been recorded from star cluster L-71-RT6," A voice called out, drawing the attention of the Starkeepers. Starchanter Oryn-Rosh lifted a hand as they stepped forward, fingers pressing lightly into the projection as they expanded it towards the cluster. "The disturbance is not unlike that of a star going supernova. The initial wave of its implosion was registered forty six hours ago by remote monitoring sensors in the region. However, there has been a notable lack of other phenomena that should accompany such an event. No expanding ring following the initial wave, no burst of light, no... Anything." The Starchanter let this hang in the air as their tendrils wrapped tight about their throat. "All of you felt it, it was as if something...Screamed. Cried out in anguish.. And then.." They zoomed in more upon the region, revealing an absence where a binary star should exist. Empty space, nothing more. "The stars are simply..." "Gone." A new voice interjected. Aged, weary, but carrying the spark of a mind still sharp despite an ailing body. "The stars are simply... Gone." It was not every day one heard concern within the voice of the Starseeker. "It is our duty to understand why and the nature of the anguish we felt from it. This must be kept quiet until we further understand the situation. This is a dark omen, a maelstrom which comes to swallow us if we do not chart the course to avoid its pull. Work diligently, we may yet weather the storm which comes..." Barely any could hear the next words they spoke, seeming more for themselves than the gathering at large. Soft, reverent, concerned. "Shining bright amongst the most blessed of stars, It is the cosmos one calls, to give it praise and admiration. Its beauty ever-unfolding, it's rage known. One can all but ask.... ...for protection." 6. You’re in a room with Weashbi Jrugl, Klaq’Qi Weibii, Xioshi, and a loaded gun with one bullet. What do you do? I shoot Xioshi as the most dangerous amongst them, as politicians are feeble creatures and can't do anything. I beat Weibii and Jrugl with the gun until they stop twitching and wait for Glorsh to release me from this test of loyalty. PRAISE GLORSH!
