"I've no idea who you are. GIVE THIS MAN A WHITELIST."

A brief summery of the Whitelist system, by Tenenza (Who is in no way involved in this system nor it's creation):

Back in my day, you had to have five up-pluses to get a whitelist, and we had to grovel before the pumpking twice, in the snow, both ways!

But everyone agreed that was shit.

So now you don't even need any +1s to get a whitelist if you've shown you aren't horrible and are up to snuff.

Some people obviously don't like how the system works now, since it kinda hinges on a player being seen by the staff and not pissing off both Dea and Tish (and they're pretty mellow people in my experience, although Tishy is nuts (Don't tell Tish I typed that))

There's also Jackboot in that system, but species whitelists are certainly more lax towards new people, since they're mostly about immediately describable roleplay skill and lore stuff.

Also, if you get the 5 +1s, you get your whitelist, because you're probably doing *something* right.

So, I guess the big question is; how long do you think it's reasonable to leave an application open before Tish/Dea/Jackboot make a judgement call?

Almost right,

Jackboot, Witt, Susan, and Tool are incharge of species whitelists, each person has their own species to do the whitelists for.

Tish and Aqy deal with head of staff whitelists.

Dea doesn't do them anymore since she stopped being staff.

Also be happy that you don't need to write a 1000 word backstory for a species anymore.

Technically Jackboot can accept any species whitelist as he's the Loremaster :$

As somebody that got every single whitelist but one before we revamped the requirements, this kills the Meow.

Even if he accepts them I go to the person who is assigned to that species to make sure it's ok, they are the one assigned to that species.

I delegate the species' whitelists to the lore writers that have worked on them, or otherwise shown an interest/understanding of the species in question. The only time I step in is when an application has sit unnoticed or undecided on for longer than 3 days, though this will probably be risen to 4 or 5. The whitelister in question has to send me a PM, and I try to make an immediate decision to conclude the matter in an expedite way. I'm the personal overseer of Unathi whitelists though, so I've got double trouble responsibility.

Jumping over my staff doesn't happen too often, though, thankfully.

As for the whitelists themselves, I dunno. I try to trust people and give them the benefit of the doubt if I don't know them. If there's evidence that they're sincere and genuinely interested, I'm happy to give them a whitelist. I've denied a few, but my philosophy has been "work with" rather than "Throw out". I'd rather engage the whitelist hopeful and point out ways for them to improve the whitelist in order to be accepted, and if there's the effort put in, I'm satisfied. Denying people for being 'new' isn't really fair to me. How do you prove yourself without being given the ability to prove yourself?

Generally, with head of staff whitelists, Aqy and I prefer if our applicant's aren't literally a day old. Two or three days is totes fine with us. Primarily because it tells us we don't know who you are and have nothing to go off of. Even with our regulars, people keep going "why", but you know what? That's because people give us "Hey, this person does good RP" and nothing more so Aqy and I are like "OH, they must do good! Lets accept!" then what happens? We get burned and people call Aqy and I things like "stupid", "ridiculous", "morons", etc. (I still love you all, despite the words <3) Why? Because "Hey, this person does good RP" is shite feedback, but we literally have nothing else to go off of, and we'd rather trust them until they mess up before we smack them because nobody gives actual, constructive feedback aside from "He's good RP. Me like."; and then everybody is disappointed. It's a vicious cycle. :<
