Azoth112 Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 BYOND key: Greenspider Character names: Ryker Azoth, William Gibson How long have you been playing on Aurora?: A Month Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: Id like to play as the Chief Engineer, to take on the responsibility of leading others and looking after them. Ive also spent a lot of time teaching new players how to be a good engineer, not just how to do things but why and suggestions on how to go about certain situations. Now im not the best out there but i do know my stuff and id like to actually folow the rules of construction and authorization of equipment, ive noticed not many heads make you actually fill out forms and such, but i feel like thats what makes the game interesting. Why did you come to Aurora?: I came to Aurora because i love to Roleplay, honestly the first time i played on here i was just jumping back into Spacestation 13, then i joined in as a engineering apprentice and was happy with the community of players here, they are helpful and most dont mind lending a hand. Its hard to find a good community of players who react well to RP, or often suggest how to build my characters past, ive started to really stick to my characters Medical history and fully immerse myself in the game, i feel like i cant do that on other servers strictly because they dont enforce the roleplay as much Have you read the BS12 wiki on the head roles you plan on playing?: Yes, i plan on also reading it again to familiarize myself with it a little better. Please provide well articulated and argumented answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Roleplay to me is about seeing the game through your characters eyes, its a way to try and see things from a different perspective. Roleplaying is about trying to actually become your Character, trying to imagine how he/she would react in a situation rather than how you yourself would. My character Ryker, has a temper but also cares about others, while my Character William is awkward and dorky. Roleplaying lets me play these parts and see how others treat them. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: This question throws me a little. I think that one purpose would be even knowing its say, Rp-Rev, that its my job to stay in character and not be paranoid at every turn just because i know someones out to kill me even though my character cant possibly know. Also if i know someones a newer player, to be patient with them in interactions and try to be a role model to them, if i can be. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: I feel like its the whitelisted players job to set an example for the other players, to follow the rules, participate in every way they can, and even help newer players learn the game or help others setup of their backstory. Its not their job to be moderators or act like admins. I will do my best to set a good example and become a valued member of the community Please pick one of your characters for this section, and provide well articulated responses to the following questions. Character name: Ryker Azoth Character age: 25 Please provide a short biography of this character (approx 2 paragraphs): Ryker is a good man with a bad temper. Being raised by his foster mother he was taught to be a good man and have a kind heart, but after she died he became aggressive and developed his temper. He jumps into trouble any chance he gets, although most of the time its to help someone. He becomes stern and "testy" (Couldnt think of a word to use) when he's around other people who have tempers themselves, he'll pick a fight with someone for insulting another person even if he doesnt know them. Its hard for me to really describe him because i dont see him from other peoples eyes, id like to think i did him Justice but im not sure. What do you like about this character?: I like the way he is confident and outgoing, also that he takes on problems just to solve them. What do you dislike about this character?: I bring it on myself but his jumping into trouble and making a scene creates issues sometimes, also he tends to hold grudges over minor incidents Do you think this character is fit to be a Head of Staff? (Please note that Head characters must be over 30, unless given special clearance): Even though he is only 25, i feel he's a good pick for a head of staff. Why?: I've noticed that a lot of times people will turn to him not only in times of crisis but even just for advice, Ryker will tell someone how things are gonna be and they just listen. In emergencies Ryker somehow ends up in charge and leads groups often, im bad with words myself but Ryker seems to know what to say just when someone needs to hear it, he has the smarts and the confidence to lead. Please provide well articulated and argumented answers to the following questions. How would you rate your own roleplaying?: on a scale of 1-10 id give my self a 6. On a good day id give myself a 7. Extra notes: I honestly am not sure how good i am at roleplay, i try to mix up the emotions and really try to make my character seem alive. I play the brave part well, but i think when i show his fears and weaknesses i project them in a way that people can start to understand him. Im really just going out on a limb here, ive heard from a few people that i should apply to be the Chief Engineer mainly because of how i react in emergencies. But really i feel like there is no one way to lead people, id like to bring another view to the table and try and prove to the community i got what it takes to play this part, all im asking is a chance. (Oh and im horrible with paragraphs and writing papers, thanks for bearing with it)

In emergencies Ryker somehow ends up in charge and leads groups often, im bad with words myself but Ryker seems to know what to say just when someone needs to hear it, he has the smarts and the confidence to lead. The age requirement is there for a reason on most head roles. Even if you feel like your character would be apt at leading, there is no way that a 25 year old (which would put you as a very recent college graduate) would have the necessary experience to be trusted in a position that oversees an entire space station's systems.
