ShadowVi
BYOND key: TheOverShadowed Character names: Kai Danlin, Johnathon Grayle, Emma Jarvis, John Viess, N.A.I.T.E How long have you been playing on Aurora?: Around maybe a month. Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: Because if you're lucky there will be 2 Heads of Staff. Normally either the HoP, HoS or Captain, and rarely anything else. I'd like to be able to help with the issues associated with this Why did you come to Aurora?: Found it on the hub. Yes, I'm a hub player. Saw it as heavy roleplay and coming from heavy roleplay on G-Mod and from games of D&D was pretty damn interested. Have you read the BS12 wiki on the head roles you plan on playing?: I have and played the basics of the departments quite extensively too. Any other department heads I might wish to play I'll get to know the systems before applying. In the case of HoP/ Captain, I'll get to know the server a little better and get more incite on the other heads duties too. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Roleplay is placing yourself in a situation, and thinking like someone in that situation. That doesn't just mean the current, but the life experiences and personality situation of the character you are playing too. Your characters will obviously have similar traits, but at the same time have different knowledge, experience and way of doing things than each others. It should be about playing in situations you can't do in real life, while also helping others find that situation too. It also should be about going though things differently than maybe how you personally would handle them, but how your Character would handle them. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: It is to enable a higher level of roleplay within your department, and if possible the station's population at large. It's to help with the running of the IC situation as well and helping out maybe with more OOC problems like learning the ropes of roles. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: To make sure you know your role in the department. If it's to be hands on like a HoS or to sit back and supervise like the CE then you follow those ropes to help further the roleplay. It's also to have an at least moderate understanding of the department's whole infrastructure and jobs so you can either help with or do whatever is needed. Basically, I'd strive to do this by only being heads of departments I know well, and knowing when someone is more suited to the job. Also, to make sure that I'm on when I can be with those head characters. Only exception to this would be is if I'm really not in the mood to play a certain department, and then I'd be a hindrance, more than an asset to the enjoyment of others Character name: Johnathon Grayle Character age: 39 Please provide a short biography of this character: First noticed by Nanotrasen during his mid-20s, Johnathon Grayle was a honours biology student who had went on to study Xenobiology and attempt to gain a PHD in this field. His moderate knowledge in Physics helped him understand the concepts of different evolutionary paths and was noted by his superiors to sometimes look at things too much like a Physicist than a biologist, a trait he has a hard time supressing. After his postgraduate degree in Xenobiology, he decided to take a year to gain some experience. Taking an Internship with Nanotrasen, he worked as an assistant in the Xenobiology, Telescience and R&D labs. He assisted well in them, by collecting items and running the machines. In Xenobiology he was commended for his assistance. He applied to do a Nanotrasen PHD with the guarantee of a job within Research upon completion, which after another year of internship he was accepted for. His thesis that gained him his Doctorate was about the biology of space carp, and different uses within the scientific community. His theory was that Space Carp that was domesticated could be used to sense out incoming schools. It was proven correct, but was considered to expensive to be used on most commercial vessels. However his skill was not dismissed, and was chosen as one of the Resident Xenobiologists on the NSS Aurora. He has been exposed to different fields in this time, learning small parts of the roles of Xenoarchaeology and Toxins with Aurora's Science division. What do you like about this character?: He's smart. I don't need to dumb down a lot of knowledge, he can know a few more things than normal and can pick up other things in a reasonably quick timeframe. He's also a nice guy who uses a lot of proper language with little slang. What do you dislike about this character?: He's caught up in his work, finds it difficult to actually make personal connects as he is rarely seen outside of his lab. Also, he's quite conservative. Swearing's a nono except in circumstances that it's a real expression of fear, anger or dispair. He's also quite open to other cultures due to his job, and my reasoning for not liking this as playing racist characters is something not done too often and when it is it's done badly so the ability to do it right is lost. Do you think this character is fit to be a Head of Staff?: Yes. Only a RD however. Why?: He's got (Limited) people skills enough to run a department, enough experience with science to be able to help people without getting too in-depth and taking over and the general authority he uses when working with other Xenobiologists to be effective in command situations. How would you rate your own roleplaying?: I'm good, but I have flaws. A lot of my slang comes though, and some choices I make can be instinctive to myself rather than my characters. However I can separate my characters attitudes, I pain-RP well, I fear-RP well and I have experience enough to realise when I've fucked up and I admit it when I do. Extra notes: Also, No Speshul-Snowflakes. They bad. Very, Very bad. Link to comment
hivefleetchicken
I admire Shadow's roleplaying skills, and his all-around good attitude. He's a pretty chill guy, to be plain. I'd definitely consider giving him a chance at a head role. +1 From me. Link to comment
