Smoking Addiction

Hey so I got this idea while playing one of my characters who is supposed to have a chain-smoking addiction. It'd be cool to have either an option in character setup or an effect from smoking of addiction and cravings. If it was in the character setup you could choose to put it on and after an amount of time you could feel effects of cravings. Starting with slowed movement and messages to stuff like twitching, dropping stuff, blurred vision, just the basic ails the game offers.The other way the addiction could onset could be after smoking a certain amount of cigarettes or certain amount within a certain time, just like in real life this smoking could onset addiction with the ails I mentioned earlier.It would help with immersion because if you played a smoker the effects of the addiction would actually appear. This could be used for other things too like being alcohlic or having a pill addiction or space drugs or anything that uses causes addicition. Just an idea but I think it could be really cool, gimme some feedback guys! -Cali

An elaboration of this stuff would be more symptoms from things like smoking and drinking. Currently you don't know if you're drunk until your eloquent paragraph of insight philosophical insight on space carp comes out a slurred mess. Narrowing down to this specific mechanic, I'd really like it as is.

I don't think smoking addiction mechanics ingame is such a good idea. Even in real life, the effects of being addicted to nicotine are actually quite subtle as compared to other drugs. Now, I do agree with some mechanics to let you know how drunk/high you're getting, on the other hand. That way you don't suddenly cross the line from being stark sober to a blubbering nincompoop within the span of a couple of sips.

I mean I think it'd go best if it was setting you choose for your character upon set-up because some people wouldn't want to be bothered with the cravings after smoking a few cigarettes and it would probably lead to a decline of cigarettes if it wasn't a choice. I think it would just help with immersion if you had a physical in game reason to smoke.

But yeah I totally agree with you Rusty, it'd be nice the drunk mechanic wasn't *completely functioning* *4 sips* *babbling moronic drabble and can't move 2 spaces without suddenly running the other way*
