BYOND Key: InquisitorJohn

Character Names: Sage Sterling

Species you are applying to play: Diona.

What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): -

Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes.

Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question

Why do you wish to play this specific race:

As a person who has been roleplaying for a while, there is no doubt - and it applies to pretty much any roleplayer - that I like to see varying roleplay concepts and ideas, not only in myself but in others as well. Diona is an unique roleplay concept, one which I have not seen before. This concept does pretty much fascinate me, and I am more than willing to commit to roleplaying a Diona.

Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human:

Diona are physically distinct from most races, largely because of their plant-like being. Yet leaving this aside, the most distinct feature of a Diona is their mentality and behaviour, more than their anatomy. They do not group in civilizations or are reigned by a monarch or any sort of system at all. Diona are "feral", per say. Their mentality is simple - they seek to live and learn as their priorities, and do not trouble themselves with complex riddles and philosophies, socities and oppression, like a human would.

Character Name: Echoes of Ancient Times.

Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs

Cultivated like most by botanists, Echoes was adequately grown aboard on one of NanoTransen's stations. Once Echoes had reached adolescence, it was let off to roam around the station. Usually found at the Library, it had taken curiosity for the people that frequented the Library - among it's favourites of course, the Librarian. He had gained a reputation among the bookworms to be one of the bitey Nymphs, creeping up on the bookworms to take a bite off their fingers without previous notice.

Echoes eventually began frequenting the Library often, becoming one of his favourite places. It could inquire all he wanted about many topics, and would recieve answers most of the time. The Librarian was a middle-aged human, who was a fan of many genres among books, had grown quite attached to Echoes. He would often read it classics from times when humans had not even found out about the existence of aliens and reference science books, so it could inquisition the Librarian all it could and retain the most information possible. This is how it acquired the name of "Echoes of Ancient Times", referencing the Echoes as the books, and Ancient Times as the time they had been written in. After the Librarian passed away and was replaced, Echoes had grown into a full-grown Diona. It's appearance is humanoid, yet does not resemble a human accurately, rather leaning onto a merge of the aspects the Librarian would often read to it in tales of monsters and creatures of legends.

What do you like about this character?

I'm personally fascinated by the idea of an alien, a foreign creature seeking to fill itself with knowledge. An empty creature seeking to fill the void inside itself by spending time with the "wiser people", molding itself to their ideals and behaviour. A creature seeking to adapt.

How would you rate your role-playing ability?

I have been roleplaying for approximately five years now, yet I have barely started to roleplay on SS13 - having started off around three weeks ago. I'm pretty familiar to the concept of different races, physical and mental-wise. I would not consider myself the perfect roleplayer, yet I believe myself to be able to hold a decent roleplay with people, though, There is no excuse that I may and will commit mistakes every now and then, that's unavoidable after all.
