Reporting Personnel: Chris Blade

Rank of Reporting Personnel: Security Officer

Personnel Involved:

Cadet Jay Snyder, HELPFUL

Medical Doctor Naratosh, MOSTLY HELPFUL

Detective Dace Morel AKA Aceman, HELPFUL

Medical Doctor Bradley Ironomager, ANTAGONIZER/UNHELPFUL

Lab Assistant Gary Watson, SUBJECT OF COMPLAINT

Time of Incident:

Station Shift, approximately 13:00 (~5 p.m. EST)

Location of Incident:

Medical bay, mess hall, station brig.

Nature of Incident: [X]Misconduct

Overview of the Incident:

Gary Watson and Bradley Ironromager were having constant squabbles for the duration of the shift. Gary reported that Bradley burned a paper that belonged to him, and was bothering him. I spoke to both of them, I told them their behavior was unacceptable and that they should behave properly. Eventually, Gary Watson reported to me that he had woke up to a threatening message, he felt something was on the station and that he needed a gun. This alarmed me very much, and I told him that if he felt unsafe, he should report the issue to security and stop attempting to procure a gun. At some point, Dace Morel alerted me that Gary Watson attempted to steal Dace's coat. Dace firmly and politely reclaimed his coat and issued a warning to Gary to cease his behavior. Shortly thereafter, Dace informed me Gary was attempting to weld doors shut. I had a talk with Gary and confiscated his welder.

Ultimately, Gary's behavior and comments about wanting a gun caused me to seek out Medical Doctor Naratosh. I requested that Naratosh look at Gary's records and find out if there was anything indicating a mental disorder or disease. At that time, I told Naratosh that I believed Gary's actions to be mental, not criminal. Naratosh reluctantly agreed to review Gary's medical file.

Shortly thereafter, Bradley Ironromager and Gary Watson engaged in a fight in front of Medical Doctor Naratosh. Myself and Jay Snyder intervened and escorted both of them to the brig. Bradley was given a two-minute sentence and released. Gary was given a three-minute sentence. Before the end of Gary's three-minute sentence, he began to bash a crowbar against his own body until he was a bloody mess. When I discovered this, we had Gary transferred to medbay for further treatment. Ironically, with several other staff SSD, Bradley Ironromager was his treating physician.

Did you report it to a Head of Staff or IAA? If so, who?: No. There were none aboard.

Additional notes:

Jay Snyder was present and/or aware of most of the events herein even when he is not specifically mentioned in the narrative.

I believe that the actions of Gary Watson are mental, not criminal, but nonetheless, it's my hope that a duty officer will intervene and perhaps set Gary Watson on some kind of medical probation/parole. Quite frankly, if we have lab assistants running around welding doors shut, attacking crewmembers, and attempting to kill themselves, it's going to destroy morale and our ability to police NanoTrasen stations in Tau Ceti.

I take full responsibility for my own actions. I failed to remove Gary's gear while he was in the cell, and then I left him unsupervised for approximately 30 seconds while I went to update his records. If I had been more diligent, he would not have been able to harm himself.

In my own defense, at the time I had no reason to believe that Gary would commit an act of self-harm. I accept whatever penalty I might incur, but I do hope that NanoTrasen will be lenient in light of this security team's dedication to protecting a mentally ill man.
