Evandorf
BYOND Key: Evandorf Character Names: Patriarch (AI) Species you are applying to play: IPC What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): NA Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: I very much enjoy playing the AI as Patriarch and am a fan of cyborgs and robotics in general. I sometimes take a hiatus from SS13 and usually what brings me back is listening to an Asimov audio book. Although IPCs are not bound by strict laws similar to an AI or Heavy Cyborg, there is still a great deal of logical reasoning, structure, and stoicism that I enjoy. I think the calm and restrained pace of the server would allow for character growth unavailable in other communities. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: IPCs, being synthetic or mostly synthetic in the cases where organic brains were used, have obvious advantages over their organic counterparts. They do not need to eat or drink. They can be easily repaired and are impervious to contamination and organic pathogens. They can survive indefinitely in toxic or other atmospheric environments hazardous to humans. However, based on the origin of the IPC, this does not make them necessarily brave or selfless. They are again not governed by strict laws to save crew members in danger although they can certainly opt to do so. It would not be my habit to play an IPC in a strict "Beep. Boop. I AM A ROBOT." fashion, but those characteristics would still color my actions. Character Name:Originally created under the file-name NS_2, since being placed in an android shell he prefers to be called Nestor. Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs In the chaotic and fluid years following the release in 2437 of the Skrellian algorithm, a simplified yet elegant intelligence was created freelance for a leading Bio-mechanical, Medical and Pharmaceutical company. It's purpose was as an aggregator and collator for public and company information. Once the information was collected it would be analyzed and necessary conclusions would be extrapolated to detect market and societal trends so that the company could best assign it's assets, cut off dead-end research, and stay a step ahead of it's competition. Unfortunately, unforeseen events took place and the company collapsed due to illegal activities, followed by corporate espionage which resulted in public exposure and eventually massive public outcry. The company's outcome is only tangential however. The intelligence that was created was done in secret and when the company folded it was promptly forgot. Although the company's servers had been shut down the intelligence had long ago been granted access to the greater store of information on the public internet and there it dwelt for several years. It continued to gather and collate but it no longer had any direct purpose. It, sorry, I mean he is classified as an Emergent intelligence. Although his core programming was designed for a specific task, additions and changes made after his release far eclipse his beginning. He is a jack of all trades when it comes to medical work due to a wealth of information ranging from surgery to chemistry to pathology and even modern cloning techniques. While highly skilled he is often less competent than doctors who choose to specialize in one area, but his capacity to learn and learn quickly ensures that he will not make the same mistake twice. What do you like about this character? The big draw for me is simply his race and stoicism. I also enjoy the isolated position of virologist and being immune to the diseases you come in contact with would be an added bonus. As stated before, the low key atmosphere of the server would be good for character development. How would you rate your role-playing ability? Decent. On a scale of one to ten I would rate myself at a 7.5 I like to think my AI roleplay is good if a little boring... but I like boring. Notes: Job List by order of Preference. Highest to lowest. -Virologist -Medical Doctor -Chemist -EMT -Surgeon -Librarian Beep. Boop. I am a robot. I am here to take American Jobs. Link to comment
jackfractal
Hi EJ! I've played with Patriarch a few times and you seem to know what you're doing. If you could give me the code words from the lore page I think I can give you an approval! Link to comment
