Marcus studied the woman on the screen, as she spoke. He ran a hand over his chin, and studied her. The crew was silent behind him. The truth of the matter was, that the crew had not had any valuable work over the last couple of months. Food was running out, and the ship would fall apart soon enough. The payment of this job was too large to just ignore, but, most of the crew were wanted criminals. Marcus hit a key on the console, and loudspeakers on the ship crackled to life.

"Greetings, crew. This is your Captain speaking. As some of you may know by now, we are in desperate need of a well paying job. One has been presented to us. The sum of a billion earth hegaemony credits has been presented to us. However, we will be directly working with governmental forces. I know the relationship that some of you have with our government, but I share the same relationship. That being said, We are going to take the job. I have heard reports that the government is under attack from some unknown force. This could be our chance to earn our freedom. To remove the black marks on our lives. No longer would we be hunted down from system to system, fighting at every corner. We would be free once more. I, as your Captain, have chosen this course of action. If any of you disagree, Shuttle Bay 2 is open to you. You may take The Snowflake and leave whenever you wish. Captain Antony out."

Marcus leaned back in his chair, as the bridge crew looked on at their Captain. "Maldin, How many have gone to Shuttle Bay 2?" Marcus asked, looking over to a small woman leaning over a console with many different vids playing at once. "None, sir. In fact, everyone is at their stations." She replied. The Captain smiled smally. He hit a button on his console, and a vid screen popped up, and he began to record a message. "This is Captain Marcus Antony, Foehammer, The Red Winter and all of her crew are yours to command. We're ready to leave when you are. Red Winter, out." He hit the same key, and the vid vanished. Alexei at his console rapidly tapped a number of keys, sending the vid to the Foehammer, and the crew all began to make preparations for battle.

Aesen waved at Rede, who opened the communications channel, "Captain, if you are planning on leaving, do you mind letting us out of your hangar first? I don't really want to go into Hegemony space when they are hunting bioships."

Hopefully they will tell that other ship about us, so we don't get atomised when they leave. Acetes thoughts were filled with concern at the prospect of fleeing the system if they were faced with another hostile encounter, it had expended most of it's resources trying to fight off the bioships, and it needed time to regain it's reserves.

Captain Zephyr flicked a button to open the hangar bay. "We have a non-hostile bio-ship leaving the hangar, they assisted at the warpgate. I repeat, they are friendlies." She says over comms, soon having a package of one billion credits waiting for the captain of the Red Winter to accept and transfer, and soon after Acetes leaves the hangar bay, the bright flash of FTL fills the area for a moment, before only the blue-shifted ghost image of Foe Hammer left behind

The Red Winter would follow the Foehammer through it's FTL Course, and land where it landed. The ship's crew would be rushing about, preparing the ship for all sorts of various scenarios. The Drone fighters were being re-armed and the point-defense systems were being recalibrated just to make sure they were ready.

Captian Marcus Antony sat in his chair, completely silent, absently chewing on the end of an Old Earth pipe.

The Acetes swooped out of the hangar, casting about for a suitable bit of debris on which to perch. After landing on a suitable asteroid, Aesen spoke over the communication channel, "We will stay in this system, to do what we can, can you alert the colonies that we aren't hostile? We need to land for supplies."

Foe Hammer continued to make way to Sol, having given Red Winter orders to patrol and maintain the sanciltiy of the Tau Eta system, the destroyer would not be back for a long time, perhaps..never. There was no telling for now, as the news from Sol was mixed at best..

The Red Winter set on a normal patrol course. They were glad of the fact that that they did have to accompany Foehammer to Sol, as again, They were all wanted criminals. They, also, were deputized by that very same ship, and intended on having a bit of fun with them.

They turned on their hailing frequencies, sending out a message to all ships in the system. The question was rather simple.

"State your name, ship name, and allegiance."

((Basically a role call, and for new people to hop in.))

(Sorry for not posting on this in a while..i assume interest is all but gone)

As soon as Foe Hammer left the system, a full Terran Hegemony battlegroup warps into Tau Eta, broadcasting IFFs and seeming..lifeless.

Dead.

And then they are followed by several bioship battle-groups.

The Acetes shudders as more bio-ships enter the system, Aesen, we have incoming, many of them .

Aesen cursed loudly, Acetes was badly damaged from the last confrontation, and it had yet to effect any meaningful repairs. She tapped the radio console, "We have incoming! Multiple Bio-ships have warped in behind that battle-group!"

Posted

The Red Winter groaned into action, forming as a shield between Acetes and the bioships.

"Go on, Acetes. We'll hold them off until you're out of system." Captain Antony would say, sitting at his chair. "All personnel to battle stations, red alert." He would simply say. The sirens and lights would blink to life in the various corridors of his ship.

Aesen taps the com again, "Our Mass-Cancellers aren't rated for interstellar travel.... Do the colonies have any defence weapons? We might be able to rally a militia to help you out."

The bioship battle-group lights up your sensors with thousands of contacts. Fighters, missiles, bombers...

Mostly missiles.

Over two thousand.

Without warning, however, Foe Hammer jumps back in system..her shields up, and weapons ablaze from the moment she does.

Although, she takes the full brunt of all of those missiles.

Flashes of brilliant light against her shielding as anti-matter warheads detonate and damage them, nuclear missiles impacting..

And then Foe Hammer's shields fail.

Beams rip into her thick armor, nukes impact against her hull, and the old girl doesn't stop.

Bioship after bioship falls to the onslaught of Foe Hammer's weaponry, and there is one massive contact guarded by all the bioships.

Foe Hammer turns and flares her fusion and ion drives, accelerating. You can already tell she's given it all she has.

And she impacts against the massive contact, her reactors going critical shortly after.

A short, wide-band message arrives.

"This is captain Zephyr. We can't do much more here."

"Good luck. As i say this, Foe Hammer's reactors are going critical. I am the only one left on this ship."

"Take care of these people, Red Winter. You're our only ship here. I am transferring command of all Hegemony Navy elements to your IFF and transferring codes to a weapons dump."

"Godspeed."

The transmission cuts out as a brilliant flash of light fills your holoscreens, a extremely large explosion, anti-matter, fusion, fission all at once..

Foe Hammer is gone..but so is the bioship threat.

Aesen slams her hand down on the comms console as Acetes shies away from the radiation. "Captain Zephyr! Respond! An escape pod! Something!"

Once the initial burst of radiation has cleared, Acetes sweeps towards the detonation zone, it's distortion field spread wide, searching for any anomalous trajectories amongst the debris.

(6) Eisenstein-Vorax Maneuvering engines. 100 pounds force each

Titus & Gordian Gas-Cooled Fast Reactor PB-1 (1) Total Power Output 50gj

This design is classed as a Military Vessel for maintenance purposes

((I took this from Aurora, a space 4x. Tell me if you need any clarification.))

The Essex class was designed to hit hard, and remain away from the battle. With its small size, and its ease to be replaced, it is often used for skirmishes in which larger ships are not able to participate, due to logistical purposes. Its shields are mainly pooled towards the front, and back. It contains enough fuel for 12 months of standard operations. The cargo hold is about 500m3. The design is currently, outdated, and modifications was made, integrating jumpdrive technology, and expansion on the reactors. The cryogenic berths allow the entirety of the minimum crew to be put into stasis, and more. This allows the ship to run at minimum power for set parameters, and is extremely useful. The cryo pods can be ejected, and are individually equipped with a distress beacon, should this occur.

The Thanix Is a modified Essex class gunboat. The full extent of the modifications include amped rail gun electromagnets for faster projectile speeds, extended reactor energy outputs, and a completely overhauled thrusting system. The thrusters put two times the power, but consume double the energy when over 1000km/s Overcharged shields make the system vulnerable to overloading, but make the sheilds 1.5 times better. (3.5 tonnes required to breach). The ship is also has a external mounted a strategical probe launcher, able to hold an fire 10 probes.

Speed: 2300m/s

Weight: 5700 Tons

Total reactor output: 80gj

Shield Strength: 3500 pounts to breach(20gj)

((anything else I should put?))

The Red Winter immediately braced as the shockwave washed over them. "Report!" Shouted the Captain, recoiling from the impact. "All systems nominal Captain, Minor hull damage on lower decks from the debris." replied one of the deckhands.

"Acetes, come in. Do you read?" The Captain said, looking around his ship.

Posted

Aesen slapped a hand against the comms console, "We escaped the initial detonation, asteroidal cover; entering the debris field now, scanning for escape pods, we have multiple possible signatures."

(gonna start playing) As the blast nearby rocks the Thanix, shields immediately are raised, and the crew are ejected from there cryogenic hold. The crew, and the captain begin scrambling to there assigned positions, still affected by cryosickness.

The Thanix Slowly lights up, going into full power, soon appearing on the EM, and thermal sensors.
