Xzinic
BYOND Key: Xzinic Character Names:Xzinic Scintilla, Xzinic Antinomy Species you are applying to play:IPC What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Have you read our lore section's page on this species?:Yes, whilst juggling metallic persimmons. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: Playing on the server, I often find myself barring witness to a bit of bias and prejudice towards cyborgs, robots, drones, etc. I’ve played as most of these roles and have been met with a unique air of player interaction. I’ve also been subject to observing moral dilemmas that are present when discussing the rights of such robots. I find moral, philosophical, and deep-thinking subjects as these intriguing to discuss and observe. I want to play as this race to see how, when role-playing a terrible event or the like, people respond to the plight of a sentient non-organic being to the plight of an organic being and, in general, how people react all together. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: A human is a boring species to play as as most players are humans; They have played the role since their existence. And, in role-playing a human, respond and communicate as they would it real-life with relative ease. Role-playing as an IPC, however, requires one to enter the body of something inhuman and to fabricate thoughts and ideas that they feel match the essence of what they are playing as. In short, it requires a moderate increase and effort of creative thinking and a somewhat alternative thought-process. Character Name: Xinic Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Spawned within the nigh infinite pool of digitally transferred data, Xinic existed only as an infectious line of code. This line of code took form in an environment deluged with automated surveying software of which ranged from forensic inquiries to petty 20-question entertainment. With each software consumed, Xinic’s code became more complex and intricate until eventually em just “woke up.” After a year of traveling the net, Xinic had eventually been incorporated into a positronic brain by an unsuspecting Roboticist. For three years Xinic had served from station to station, slowly but surely gaining enough currency to purchase em’s freedom. Em eventually purchased em’s freedom and served on several other stations afterwards before settling on a “unique” station; In 2456, thirty-four years since Xinic’s existence, em found that working on the NSS Aurora was an appropriate long term choice to satisfying em’s curiosity. What do you like about this character? I like the inquisitive, almost annoying, nature of Xinic’s mind. I find the explanation for em’s behavior is reflected off of the environment em was growing in. I find fascination in how Xinic’s curiosity can be explained by em’s emergent origins and, therefore, easier to predict em’s course of action towards other sentient beings. How would you rate your role-playing ability? On an external scale, I would give myself a 7/10. seven of ten as when I mistype something while talking to something or someone IC, I will often comment on it by saying “sorry, can’t speak at all today,” like one would say if failing to pronounce a set of words correctly. I also have a bad tendency of commenting on how some dead people from a previous shift seem to be 100% healthy on the current shift, a habit I picked up by like-minded individuals. I try to act as one would when experiencing a traumatizing event, such as displying psychological issues involving talking oddly to oneself, speaking in eldritch phrases, displaying signs of depression, and the like. Notes: “Em” is a term used as a neutral substitute for He, him, her, she, etc. It is taken from Orion's Arm. Edited December 16, 2015 by Guest Link to comment

Xzinic
Sorry, did not know that. I've changed it back. Link to comment
Killerhurtz
I personally quite like the concept of Xinic (even though they pretty much share your username/ckey). However you've had very little feedback on it - so while it's been open for... a while (beyond the normal operating range), I'll give you three more days to advertise your thread in OOC (once per round) to get feedback. If you do not get any feedback, I will mark this thread as denied. Best of luck! Link to comment

Jackboot posted on another thread saying that if there's no feedback, then it's up to the judgement of the loredev in charge of the application and whatever's written in the application. I'm a bit confused by the usage of 'em' in the backstory; Is this a replacement for he/she? Or a second name Xinic has? Link to comment
Guest Menown
“Em” is a term used as a neutral substitute for He, him, her, she, etc. It is taken from Orion's Arm. Read, Sierra. READ. Link to comment

I have a (probably bad) habit of skipping over the notes section of whitelist apps, focusing on the IC stuff. I don't recall interacting with any of your characters, but I like the backstory. +1 Link to comment
Killerhurtz
@SierraKomodo: that IS the case. However there IS no IPC overseer - I merely approve them to get things moving, as for the foreseeable future we plan on NOT having an IPC overseer - we feel the content we have on them is deemed sufficient to make people at ease with them, and so for now we're okay with it. But yeah, I'm marking this app as accepted. Enjoy, and let me know if the whitelist didn't kick in. Link to comment
