DragonSnap's Contract: Plausible?

Prior configuration as a station-bound engineering android, designation: ATHENA. Possesses knowledge in all engineering related skills, citing prior servitude as a station unit for employment experience. Qualified for botanical care and Hydrophonics. Contracted under joint ownership of roboticist Karima Mo'Taki and NanoTrasen.

 

With the current IPC lore, I wanna double check if DragonSnap's contract is actually legitimate and possible. Here's what happened:

Karima Mo'Taki programmed a synthetic named Athena

Athena, being owned by NT, works as a lawed synthetic.

Karima, being the NT employee who created Athena, gets paid a little extra for all the work Athena does.

Several years pass, Athena serves as a station-bound unit with no real rights.

Synthetic rights movement happens.

IPC shells become a thing.

Karima wants to liberate Athena.

Karima hires a lawyer to lay out a plan for Athena to earn her freedom.

The formulate the best solution is for Athena to work off a debt to NT, and become full property to Karima.

NanoTrasen agrees, as long as Athena works off a hefty debt.

Karima isn't rich enough to outright buy Athena, so the debt needs to be paid in service. This also makes it 'cheaper' to accomplish.

Over the course of several months, Karima purchases 2nd hand parts to build an IPC shell.

Athena's service as a lawed unit alleviates some of the service debt.

IPC shell completed, Athena is removed from station-bound service and into an IPC shell.

Athena changes her name to DragonSnap to commemorate her first step to freedom.

Terms of contract state Karima and NT are still both owners of DragonSnap.

DragonSnap has to work off her entire debt to NT, to transfer full ownership to Karima, her creator.

Lawyer comes in again, DragonSnap granted a proper worker's contract with NT.

Contract states 10 years of a secured job to pay off the debt.

Contract also assigns Karima as the primary caretaker (initiate repairs and such)

Portion of DragonSnap's pay is deducted for insurance and the like, portion goes to Karima, portion goes to NT, and a tiny sliver is legally hers.

Karima just takes the money paid out to her and gives it back to DragonSnap.

After 10 years, combined with her lawed service, DragonSnap will completely pay off her ownership side to NT.

After 10 years, Karima can decide for DragonSnap if she wants her to keep working for NT, or not.

Karima fears DragonSnap's safety as a fully free unit, so retains ownership. If synthetic rights get better, then she'll have no problem freeing DragonSnap entirely.

If something tragic were to happen to Karima, DragonSnap's ownership is passed to Karima's family in Adohmai.

Annnnnnd....that sums it up.

So. The question is: Would NT agree to a join ownership of a synthetic? One little synthetic is not worth much, and she still has to pay off a long-term debt anyway. And it would be good publicity.

What would happen if NT terminated DragonSnap's 10-year contract? I assume full ownership just falls to Karima. Or would they get DragonSnap back as property?

If Karima's contract is terminated and she's fired from NT, do they get DragonSnap and can drop her back into a lawed chassis? Or is DragonSnap still a semi-free unit and can work off the 10 year debt, then get transferred back to Karima?
