LemonTheFruit
BYOND Key: LemonTheFruit Character Names: Violet McFly, Gregory O'Reed, PAL:0S, Kevin Mann. Species you are applying to play: IPC What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Exempt. Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes. Clickspring Chestnut. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: I've been around on this server for quite some time, and for the entire length of that time I've played nothing but a human. Put simply; I'd like to change that. I feel like having access to the IPC race will give me the ability to roleplay in another manner, or at least differently than what Human can offer. I've always enjoyed the idea of roleplaying a machine; mechanical lifeforms are an interest of mine, no matter the fictional setting. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Mechanical lifeforms have no need for food, sleep, oxygen, or pain. These are all integral parts of our lives, being physically human. Roleplaying an IPC would require a level of disconnect from your character. While this might be a bonus in some facets, it'd be a detriment in others. A character being unable to feel the same sorts of emotions as the rest of the crew would be considered a huge detriment. Such a trait would entail difficulty at forming relationships with crew mates. Though, on the other hand, the machine may not even care how the crew perceives it, and choose to focus more on its given tasks. To more properly answer this question, I should probably describe how I plan to play this character differently. With this specific character, I'm not gonna do anything too special. I'm going to be playing a designed Line Model, meaning that my character's personality will be that of cold calculation and efficiency. It will do what it is instructed to, it will follow orders. It's a machine, and I intend to play full-on machine. Character Name: MOB:I5 (Or, Mobis.) Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs The MOB project was one of the more successful endeavors of Seabra Robotics, albeit after they were bought out by Nanotrasen. The small robotics production company had many a trouble with the PAL line, and its long outdated SEAB line. Their problems in the past? Too much variation. What was keeping Seabra from success was its lack of appeal to the consumer. So, the originality the collective held before its big buyout, was its downfall. The Multi-purpose Omni-capable Robotics project was the same project that produced MOB:I5. MOB:I5 is the fourteenth of its kind (Designation "I" being the ninth letter of the alphabet, added to its numerical designation five.) MOB units are cold, calculating, and do as they're told. MOB:I5 is no different. This unit comes pre-loaded with emergency repair protocols, and is ready to work on activation! What do you like about this character? This time around, I really want to roleplay something with a sort of disconnect from the crew, something that's not experiencing the same emotions, and just isn't on the same level as its peers. To put it simply, I would really like to have the quintessential machine roleplay. With Mobis, I will be getting a feel for IPC mechanics and roleplay as a whole, giving me a jumping off point. This will allow me to get a feel for the machine personality. On another note, this character allows me to flex more of my imagination when it comes to Seabra Robotics, basically just giving me something interesting to bring up in character. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I'd rate my roleplay ability highly. I play tabletop regularly, and the people I correspond with regularly compliment my ability. Notes: This character is meant to be boring, its meant to not be special. I'm using it as a way to demonstrate that I understand the lore of the race, and that I'm willing to follow that lore. Mobis will be my jumping off point, as stated above. Link to comment
rrrrrr
I'd be totally okay with this, to be honest. Gonna sit on this for two days and see if any feedback pops up - if none of it's bad, well, you're getting approved. Link to comment
Nanako
I got really annoyed at you working in the bar the other day as a service droid. You and your all-areas access could have been a real asset in getting the ingredients for various rare drinks, but you just refused to. The refusal to fetch uranium from chemistry was annoying, if understandable. Refusal to fetch hallucinogenic mushrooms was also understandable, although we did probide justification for it. But your refusal to fetch various things from the kitchen and botany, like fruits was just flat out stupid. Me and Nia (the bartender) both agreed you were just getting in the way and not helping with much of anything. A service droid was both desired and needed in that situation, and yet you just floated around spectacularly failing to follow orders and acting like you knew better than the humans you're supposed to serve. You didn't even have tthe courtesy to leave when it was made clear you weren't wanted anymore annoying synthetic, -1 from me Link to comment

You also wanted me to get psychedelic mushrooms, which is ALSO against regulation. My character would not allow you to do such a thing. I'd also like to note how rude you and the other character were toward the borg. I was serving drinks, and cigarettes as per my role, you two were antagonizing me. The whole point of being annoying, is to be expected. I play a simple, intelligent robot. Link to comment
Guest
Freaking robots refusing to supply chemicals that are harmful to crew members. So annoying. This is a fairly good application. It's well-written, sensible, and the character you're designing also sounds just as equally as interesting. I've RPed with you a fair number of times and I think you have a good understanding of what you're doing. Supporting. Link to comment
rrrrrr
Consider this shit accepted. Refusing to give dudes uranium and hallucinogens when they don't have permission to from a head of staff seems reasonable. Bam! Bam! Value, value! Welcome to the real world, jackass. Accepted. Link to comment
