ArcBot
BYOND Key: ArcBot Character Names: Jack Davidson, Ka'Akaix'Reed Zo'ra, Jessica Brooks, E.L.L.I.E(pAI) Species you are applying to play: IPC What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Exempt? Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes, I have read it. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: I wish to play IPC so I can work on my synthetic role-playing, I usually play organic characters besides my pAI Ellie. I would play cyborg but they can't use their hands like an IPC can so they only can complete minimal tasks. Their physiology is also really interesting to me, there's so many ways you can roleplay an IPC character, from one that is mass distributed with thousands of others by a corporation, to one that is created as a project or for a specific purpose.(Not going to name them all, these are just my favorite two.) Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: There are a few factors that make this species different then role-playing a human, the main being they're fully synthetic. They feel no need for sleep, food, emotion, pain. They don't have to worry about outbreaks of viruses, or leaks of phoron. When damaged they are much easier to repair then an organic only requiring cable coil and a welding tool. (Or nanopaste to fix all) Character Name: Rusty Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Rusty started out as an idea from an xenobiologist named Jonathan Whim in 2432. Dr Whim was tired of constantly needing to visit medical bay because of accidents while transferring his slimes into another pen. Knowing the slimes fed off of organic species he wanted to create Rusty, a fully synthetic IPC to do this task for him. Having a great friendship with the roboticist Leon, he asked if he would be able to create Rusty once he aquires the parts. Getting the money needed for the parts on his salary alone wasn't going to cut it, so he had to go to Idris Incorporated and talk his way into a large loan with a promise that the IPC would work under NanoTrasen free of charge until the loan was paid off. After Idris wrote up the contract and Dr Whim signed he immediately had Leon order the parts needed and had him get to work right away. Months went by and Leon still hadn't finished up Rusty, Dr Whim couldn't wait for it to just be done, and meet his new friend. One day near the end of the shift Leon called Dr Whim down to robotics, ready to show him the first prototype of Rusty. When Dr Whim laid his eyes on Rusty he was very excited, everything he pictured in his head was right in front of him. Not wanting to wait another day to come back and try it out he had Leon activate it, and start up his processors. Dr Whim hid in xenobiology until the transfer shuttle had left the station and when it did he got right to work. Injecting a grey slime core with phoron and getting out of the pen, he asked Rusty to feed, watch, and then move the baby slimes into separate pens when they split. While Dr Whim was observing Rusty transferring the slimes just as he thought when they latched onto Rusty it showed no effect and he was able to carry on as if nothing was happening. From then on all Dr Whim had to do was extract the slime cores while Rusty would maintain the population. Dr Whim passed away from unknown reasons in 2456 after maintaining Rusty for twenty four years, with an unpaid loan from Idris Incorporated Rusty became their property. He was sent to work for NanoTrasen aboard one of the many Research stations in Tau Ceti as an xenobiologist. Placed on the NSS Antlia, and working there for two years he was transferred without notice to the NSS Exodus where he would continue to work until his creators debt was paid off. What do you like about this character? I like how he started out as an idea from Dr Whim and evantually became a reality, once he got the loan he needed and Rusty was able to start working off the debt. Even after Dr Whim passed away, Rusty became property of Idris Incorporated and continued working for NanoTrasen. Getting tossed around a couple stations in his lifetime, meeting many new people. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I would rate my roleplaying good but needing improvement as always. I can roleplay, it's just about HOW I roleplay my characters. I feel with Jack I do a much better job then I did as Tom by far, and I really think I have the roleplay ability for this species. Notes: Thanks for taking the time to read this. LemonTheFruit
Displays a good grasp of the lore, and I know that ArcBot is good at playing a role, based on lots of time in research with him. +1 from Lemon. Link to comment
Orr404
I think it's a good app showing a good handle on the lore, and from the chances I've had to see his characters I find that he is a good role player. So +1 from me. Link to comment
Superballs
As stated in ArcBot's previous whitelist, very great person to play with. I don't see a reason to prevent ArcBot to try a new roleplaying perspective as a synthetic. He seems to have a good grasp of lore for Vaurca and IPC. Wouldn't mind him being an IPC. This story was actually a bit sad to me. ;_; +1 Link to comment
Miruka
ArcBot showed some great adaptation across Tom Albright to Jack Davidson, showing that he was capable of easily portraying multiple personalities (from incredibly prickly to helpful). I imagine that he'd manage to do the same with another character, particularly an alien. +1 Link to comment
Nanako
I thought i already voted on this. Jack Davidson is a fun guy, and an especially fun antag. The round i saw him playing as vampire was really awesome to watch, and i approve . +1 Link to comment
ArcBot
I thought i already voted on this. That was my Vaurca application a few days ago, thank you for the positive though. Link to comment
rrrrrr
Constructed by one man but funded by a corporation - works for me! Good feedback, too. Keep up the good moves. Link to comment
