BYOND Key:DatBerry

Character Names:Rob Oster, Gordon Armstrong, B'lad, Mok'rrad Al'Adeli, Arraja Mi'dynh and some others

Species you are applying to play: IPC

What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt):

Have you read our lore section's page on this species?:most likely

Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question

Why do you wish to play this specific race: they offer a flavor of synthetic RP that cyborgs and other law bound synthetics cant offer, roleplaying a machine can give many choices of character behavior, some that would be a bit unrealistic for organic races.

Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: you are a tin can, you were made to serve these humans and now you're stealing their jobs and pretending to have rights, these rights are very fragile, not only is your citizenship and sentience is questioned, other circles believe you are a soulless monster that could start burning their villages and stealing their womyn any moment. you're at the bottom of the rights scale, next or possibly below vaurca.

Character Name: Goblin

Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs

The story begins with a xenophobic Research Director, Doctor Chromowell. our RD was a human supremacist and believed robots are humanity's servants and should always be below humans, along with the other races, unfortunately for him, he's sent to work near a adhomai refugee filled district, his workplace was filled with these filthy cats, but he learned to respect how efficient they work with how low their pay is.

which got him thinking, and he decided to start working on a side project, take a few lab assistants with him and start his own research lab later. and so work behind curtains started, using nanotrasen resources to learn even more about synthetic programming, and with the end of his contract drawing near, believing he's ready, he took a few cat assistants he trained with him and bought a small research outpost in the outer colonies, the rent was cheap, but their ride wasn't.

after finally settling in, they soon started setting up the floating rust bucket they bought, it was in a worse shape than he saw on the extranet, so fixing it up took a while, without funding he only managed few resources and machinery, but it was enough to start building a "proof of concept" module to get some funding, and so they started working on Mule Mark 1. a line model prototype that glorified its contractor's race, and disliked others. a sol merchant seeing great potential in the xenophobia market decided to fund the project. and things went smoothly for chromowell.

From his simple manufacturing AI, a emergent AI evolved, expanding through out every system it could connect to, reaching almost station AI omnipotence. wanting to be the best racist robot building robot it could be, it decided to hack into the design notes of the RD, only to find his Spaceular.blogsite.org posts, influenced by his thoughts, it started secretly improving the IPCs, giving them the ability to be passive aggressive.

after selling over 50 line models, the firm had enough money to expand, it was time to get out of the dangerous outer colonies and closer to home, but as they were getting ready to move, a band of space pirates spotted their outpost, expecting to sell the machinery for good price, their unathi captain leads the charge and the moving company flees at extraordinary speeds, left with no means of transport, the research firm thought it was kill or be killed, and so a fight between the pirates and tajara in the lobby started, some of the war hardened cats managed to stall, but the pirate's obviously superior experience and gear overwhelmed them, making their way to the CEO's office, they find chromowell, who they wanted to kidnap and sell his brain, the malware seeing this, decided to get rid of the pirates if chromowell is going to die anyway, "thats what he would've wanted".

and so when the pirates let their guard down and took off their EVA gear, all the airlocks on the outpost opened, spacing them all before they could react.

with no more humans on the firm, or anyone alive for that matter, the AI decided to download itself into one of the incomplete IPC bodies, finding a few issues, the head was dislocated and hung lower than usual, and the back was bent, but it managed to work well enough, managing to call one of those "pro-synthetic" groups on the extranet for a pickup, only to dodge them at the next station they docked at, wanting to assist humans and follow his holy mission his "mentor" left him, he signed up for a shady high risk cargo shipping firm, where he was nicknamed goblin because of his appearance, driving cargo shuttles through the outer colonies was a real challenge, fighting off wannabe pirates with what he could improvise and escaping more dangerous ones, fixing his shuttle breaches on his own, goblin managed to buy fake paperwork to prove his freedom, posing as a prototype bespoke model from chromowell labs, he applied for biesel citizenship and while waiting, managed to get a cargo contract with nanotrasen, he managed to fix his body issues, but he was still named goblin on papers, a fitting name for a sub-human, goblin thought.

What do you like about this character? he's something different than the bandwagon of "synth rights1110101011!!" he's hardcoded to favor humans, he's lacking in the personality department, only showing low self esteem in the story, but i believe he can shape one up in-rounds.

How would you rate your role-playing ability? "2/10 its ok" - IGN

Wow. Um. Okay.

Snowflake as ever! But all robots are snowflake, and I see nothing implausible here! Except, I dunno. I feel like any scrapheap that was picked up off of the outskirts of Biesel would be meticulously combed for ulterior and shady motives, before even being allowed to set foot in such sanctified human grounds.

...Who am I to talk, I have a Frontier robot too, heh.

Yeah, I can see this working. It's just riiight on the border of 'approval'/'disapproval' But..it's over the fence. I just want to ask, what's the plausibility of this Director setting up a lab in the middle of nowhere?

o shit waddup!

This application seems a bit beyond the pale. An IPC based on the malware sent through a porn website isn't something Nanotrasen would reasonably want working in its stations. I really feel that you should tone this down.

Its an emergent IPC posing as a bespoke, the lore doesn't mention any limitations on how one could emerge.

i always imagined biesil as the europe of space where they let in immigrants in dozens.

Not unlikely i'd guess, i dont think his paycheck as RD is enough for more premium estates in the middle and inner colonies, more danger = cheaper.

Just wanted to follow the lore's "small nimble research firms that make IPCs and get bought over when they go broke"

I uh, Uh, UH... Datberry what sort of drugs did you smoke before this App?

While I trust you as a player, as an RPer, as someone who can do things, I uh, Don't like the backstory. It was difficult for me to follow, was all over the place. Although I am no expert on IPCs or how to be them, I just hope you will uh, Come up with something more fruitful ingame.

eh. EH... I don't know Im not +1 or -1, Im just, i trust you to do better?
