Roderick Grey
BYOND Key: Roderick Grey Character Names: Tony finero, Carlin Hague, Harry Nurinson, Connor Mc'Buggary Species you are applying to play: IPC Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: I've been playing SS13 mainly for the fun and chaotic RPG elements it provides, but since I've gotten into aurora I find myself wanting to create more diverse characters than simply dedicating myself to a gimmick or two per round. I think moving from the basic human template to something else that's unique, but lacking the large historic legacy and accents, which can be intimidating, would be a positive step in improving and diversifying my role-playing ability. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: I think primarily it's a sense of fake-life and detachment from that of organics, which is reflected in it's typical inability to feel pain, and stunted or simulated emotional capacity that leaves both the observer and the IPC feeling , or atleast presenting to emotional display to wonder if it's truly "genuine". IPC in my own opinion is a fun way to comment on and look at the human condition without feeling wholly apart from it. Character Name: Annex Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Annex is a remnant of the sad legacy of the Annexation model line, the brain child of famed and known eccentric-roboticist Alec Crasion. The Annexation model was designed to aid and assist soldiers in invading and integrating hostile planets, the key was, in Alec's mind, to combine highly adaptive intelligence with strict behavioral sub-routines, the highly adaptable units were meet with mild commercial success, however soon after their deployment the behavioral quirks began to display themselves. Alec strongly believed synthetics could not only be man's work horse, but man's best friend, in his endeavour he created many misguided behavioral reactions he believed would comfort soldiers and others in times of distress, some of these functions are: Comedic-relief-mode will issue fake-sounding laughter during distressful situations, in a rather pathetic attempt to ease the minds of the units comrades with a bout of healthy laughter! HA. HA. HA. Banter-mode. If an insult is detected aimed at any person in the units vicinity the unit will answer with a cunningly randomized retort, such as: Your HAMSTER failed ART COLLEGE, and was IN LOVE with your GRANDMOTHER. I can't believe it's a synthetic!-mode. The unit will imitate healthy bowel functions by using toiletry facilities and secreting away avaliable food. Confused and endangered soldiers became afraid of the unpredictable tics the units would display, shouting gibberish at nearby drill sergeants, stealing and throwing out food stores, and giving away their positions with loud, incessant laughter. such modes are able to be disabled with a simple request command, however most units weren't shipped with any instructions as Alec considered the quirks to be an integral part of the units day-to-day function. Much to Alecs dismay demand for the Annexation models dried up fast, with little choice he offloaded the remaining units to whomever wanted cheap labour, no questions asked. One of these buyers were, understandably, Nanotransen. What do you like about this character? He's fun, flexible has a few gimmicks which others can work with, against or around as they choose, I think he's a solid option. How would you rate your role-playing ability? 5/10Notes: Link to comment
rrrrrr
Standard 'IPC made by a genius roboticist using spare change and a little bit of love' backstory. However, I am not against this. Advertise it in OOC and we'll see what kind of feedback pops up. Link to comment
