Avajain
BYOND Key: Avajain Character Names: Elian Ann, Katie Blaine, Jen Ailat Species you are applying to play: M'sai Tajara What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): White Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: There are a few reasons, but primarily me wanting to play a race that isn't human, and having just chosen Tajara. What cemented my choice for Tajara, was that the lore was just kind of awesome. There's even stuff detailing the economy of Adhomai. Detailing the navies of the factions in the new war. It is really quite impressive. Also, playing a something that looks like a giant house cat. That in of itself is pretty awesome. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: They have to have special gloves and modified voidsuits. Tajara tend to refer to themselves in the third-person, although may speak in the first-person when with people they are intimate or close with. Other exceptions can be things such as general slip-ups, a possible result of being on human stations. Also of note are the sleep schedule, which is very different from humans. As a species, they tend to be more 'divided', due to the class system present before the Great War, to which humanity has had more time to work past those kinds of systems, being more united as a result. Character Name: Anfisa Ankudino Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Anfisa Ankudino was born in the northern reaches of Adhomai, within the control of the Azunja line, in 2425. Anfisa had a fairly average life for her first seven years, until 2432, when the newly founded People's Republic of Adhomai executed the nobles and annexed their lands. Her parents, vocal supporters of the nobles, were taken away and imprisoned by the Republic. She never saw them again, and never forgave the Republic. Taken in by a tajaran couple who were friends of her parents, Anfisa had a semi-stable upbringing from there on. At the age of 12, she convinced a scholarly elder to teach her what she would need to get into the recently founded college in Nal'tor, and 6 years later, having saved enough money to go to and attend the college, Anfisa bid her goodbyes and left. Not wanting to choose anything too stressful, she opted for a custodial degree. For 4 years, she learned how to clean, and perform basic maintenance. For a short time, she was employed at the college as a custodian, but then an opportunity presented itself to work for NT aboard their stations. She sent a message to her town about the opportunity, and quickly boarded a shuttle to go work for NT. For 12 years she has been working aboard various stations as a simple custodian, finally arriving on the NSS Exodus. What do you like about this character? I like that they despise the Republic, and I like that they went to college to be a Custodian. It's kinda funny to me. I also like the fact that they are basically custodian extraordinaire after having been a custodian for 12 years. And having a custodial degree. I wonder if it's possible to be overqualified to be a Custodian. Anyways. I like that, outside of things job-related and with people she knows, she won't really talk much. No reason to talk if it isn't part of the job, after all. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I'm going to rate it 6/10. I'm not absolutely amazing, but I'm not absolute shit either. So 6/10 seems fair enough to me. Notes: I don't know what to put here \o/ Link to comment
Guest Marlon Phoenix
Hello! I'm sorry for the delay. You have no feedback so I'm going to base my judgement on your application by itself. The backstory for Anfisa is rather short but you show a solid understanding of what's been written for the Tajara, so the little details show, such as where she went to college. Sometimes the death of parents is used as an excuse to send a character on a path of vengeance or bitterness. You've instead given Anfisa a mostly stable upbringing as an orphan, and there's no romanticizing or glamorizing her life or career choices. I don't see any red flags that make me feel you would abuse the whitelist or make a walking, brooding war-crime. I'm going to trust you to play Tajara well and accept this application.
