Sparky_hotdog
BYOND Key: Sparky_hotdog Character Names: Audrey Catleay Species you are applying to play: Tajara What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): A Beaver Brown Hharar Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: Because the Tajara have a very interesting history and homeworld and I want to try and push my RP capabilities to include these Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: They experience space-racism and they struggle to speak Ceti Basic because of their anatomy and you need to include this in speech. Character Name: Fadil Mikhailov Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs: Fadil Mikhailov was born on 12/4/2422 to loving parents Nura and Hakeem Mikhailov. He spent his early years living in a small house outside of the nearby village of Tak’shin. He often fancied himself a scientist, watching the odd, alien creatures that walked past with other Tajara. He knew they weren’t from Adhomai, because they didn’t speak anything remotely resembling Siik’maas and their bodies clearly weren’t designed for the native climate. When he was 4, he got a small fright when he went up to one to ask questions, who, instead of answering him, slapped him, knocked him down, and walked away making an odd sound that seemed almost happy. When Fadil was old enough, his parents moved to a larger town to make it easier to get to school. He studied hard, and developed an early creative and imaginative mind in both Junior and Senior school levels. In his second last year of Senior, he had an epiphany. He didn’t like learning about new species, that didn’t make sense, he hadn’t spent years studying the Nav’twir or Zhsram. He realised that he liked learning about the Humans, as he now knew that was their name, because of their language. Even with 2 years of Senior left, he managed to just pull together the qualifications to apply for The Nal'tor College of Career Excellence. He was accepted and went on to complete a degree in literature on 14/6/240 and being perfectly fluent in Tau Ceti Basic as well as in Sol Common. His education was interrupted by the uprisings, which reached his area at the end of his Junior level. He supported the rebels as he still admired Humans greatly. He was part of a raid on a noble safehouse, which was very successful up until the commander disagreed with high command’s orders to destroy the supplies and tried to steal them instead. He set of a proximity mine, which in turn set of a variety of other safety measures, eventually leading to the whole building collapsing. Fadil was one of the only three survivors to make it out, but he lost both his arms, his left leg and one of his eyes, all of which were replaced with mechanical prosthetics, including the fully functioning eye. He was then allowed to leave service with many medals of bravery and honor, which he quickly discarded as they had no worth to him. He then moved back to Tak’shin to work as a book translator. In his spare time, he started to write books. His first book was about a boy who ran away from home in a blizzard one night and started a small outpost in the wild. He took it to the publisher to be published, and they said it was a great piece of work that they would gladly publish. A few days later, the publisher decided it would be in their best interests to publish no more than 50 books a year, and Fadil’s didn’t make it onto the short list. He didn’t give up though, and he wrote a second book, this time about a Human revolutionary who changed earth for the better. He felt that one of the things that let him down on his first book was its lack of exportability, as he had written it in Siik’maas, so it couldn’t be exported off world. He instead translated this book into Ceti Basic and Sol Common too. He handed it in to the publisher and within the week it was on shelves. He wrote another 3 books, all stemming of the 1st. What do you like about this character?: He's proud and determined, and even after his 'incident' with the humans in his early years, he still finds them fascinating. How would you rate your role-playing ability? 5/10? I've only been playing SS13 for a couple of months, but Aurora was one of the first servers I joined. I have also played a couple of other roleplaying video games and quite a lot of D&D, so the concept of RP isn't new to me, it's just learning through experience now Link to comment
Guest Marlon Phoenix
Hello! I'm sorry for the delay. In the future if you have an (alien) whitelist sitting dormant with no replies, please pester me in private messages on the forums or over Discord! Your application itself is very endearing. I highly enjoyed the specific, beginning line where Mikhailov is smacked by a human who just waltzes off. It really shows you understand the rather condescending attitude some of the humans meandering around Adhomai would have. It was also unexpected and made me laugh out loud. Such a brutal backstory typically is made to create a character boiling over with rage or bitterness, but your character appears to have made peace with his fate and went on to write books instead - something I don't think i've seen in other such tragic backstories. Despite the lack of feedback I feel like you have good intentions so I'm happy to accept this application! Link to comment
