HouseOfSynth
BYOND Key: House_Of_Synth Character Names: Ikrad Yam'hir, Arrko'vi Az'dirra, Teletraan, Zephyr, Sixty-Six.. These are the ones I've played more of as a whole Species you are applying to play: Vaurca What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): RGB 51, 0, 0 (Looks deep red to me) Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yup! I've referred to it when making this app and will likely read it over a few times more in the future. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: Well let's see here. For one I gotta catch 'em all regarding whitelist apps. But the main reason? I've said this with other races before but I'll say it again; Vaurca really are quite interesting as a concept. I'll start with their speech. I love roleplaying species way of speaking, it makes, in my opinion, the RP that much more interesting unless you use autohiss (Bleh) of course. Vaurca are no different from this. Sliiightly off topic here but I once took over for a vaurca wizard and by a longshot the best part about it was typing out the speech; from adding -ck onto the end of words to simulate the clacking of mandibles as the vaurca struggles out it's words to putting heavy emphasis on letters and sounds such as 'S' (Zz) and 'Ph' (Vv). Another thing that grips me is the discrimination. Although it doesn't happen as much as it should with any race I see it with vaurca the most and personally I love it when people go all speciest on you. It makes for good RP! Not only that but the fact that vaurca have a very unique lifestyle. They spend their years where they develop their cognative abilities in, what is essentially a world of fantasy. A place where their physical being does not limit what they can do, a vibrant world. Compare this to the outside world and well.. The result is far from overwhelming in comparison. That for me seems like a really interesting thing to bring to the table in terms of roleplay. It must be an odd transition, being ripped from paradise and thrown headfirst into some dull realm and I plan to hopefully express that in some of my characters that may come from this. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Other than the speech as explained above as well as the discrimination? Hmm.. Of course there are the mechanics, the constant panic of "OH LAWD I FORGOT THE KOIS!" "UHH NUUH MUH PHORON RESERVES" there are also the more subtle features of the race that I don't really see many people actually RP (note that there are those that probably do I just don't see them). Such as discomfort in light.. So light leading to migraines and such. Now of course there are the usual changes between species such as damage resistance/amplification and stamina. Stamina of course is different but it's not really a major thing anymore unless you enjoy tearing down the corridors so fast you can hear eurobeat just from your footsteps. Damage resistance and/or amplification? That can definitely play a part in gameplay though. The main difference with vaurca is how they cannot self heal surface wounds. If they get cut they bleed until it gets treated meaning you have to be a bit more cautious. EMP vunerability is also there to watch out for not to mention the idea of permadeath with no cloning available. Gotta get that self preservation! Unless you're playing as a Bound that is. Character Name:Ka'Axiax'Zexen Zo'ra (I think that's right?) Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Paradise. That was the only word to describe it. To those on the outside it was known as the virtual.. But for those inside it? It was home. It was life.. Zexen accepted this fact, infact he never wanted to leave. The same could be said for most Vaurca in the virtual. The exceptions being the Journeyer's, Vagabonds and those who volunteer for The Black Numbers. But Zexen was none of these exceptions. The virtual was his world, his very life force and he wished not to disrupt this fact. But alas, all good things come to an end. Somewhere his number had been drawn in the Black Numbers and he was ripped from his reality.. It felt as if someone had flushed him down a pipe. Everything went black, no sound could be heard. When Zexen opened his eyes he was underwhelmed. His surroundings were washed out in colour, he could barely feel anything he touched and it was cold.. Much colder than that of the reality he came from not just in temperature, but the imposing look of his surroundings. He wanted to go back, of course he was allowed to go every once and a while but that wasn't enough. He felt he belonged there and he wanted to go back.. Permanently.. Zexen was stationed on a NanoTrasen station as a cargo technician, he hated pretty much every moment of it, as did he hate the company that forced him out of his world and into the material. From paradise to this white-washed, what he believed to be, mimickery of life. But he kept all this under wraps and closed doors. After all, he couldn't return to the world he loved so greatly if he were put behind a prison cell.. He just had to deal with it and keep working. Struggling through this limited reality. What do you like about this character? Zexen is very pro-virtual. He'd give up anything to be there again permanently. His hatred toward NT could also make for some interesting scenarios. He sees the world he's in right now as dull, boring and meaningless and I think that'll lead to some interesting conflicts and decisions. It also opens up a whole round of possible traitor gimmicks. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I wouldn't really want to judge my own ability due to the inevitable bias but I would say a solid what? 7/10? That seems like a good number, I'll let you be the judge.. Notes: Wrote most of this at like, midnight so please don't murder me. Constructive criticism is very much appreciated! Link to comment
Pyrociraptor
Hurr durr vaurca -1 And in a more serious manner, Synthy's a good roleplayer, and the fact that he's a moderator may also weight in the fact that well, he's in for roleplay. For characters interaction, I've always had good one with his characters, especially Yam'hir the engicat and Zephyr the secbot. so I believe in him to play Vaurca (even though f**k vaurcae.) +1 Link to comment
