Recommended Posts

BYOND Key: Meltharas

Character Names: Lu'Nara

Species you are applying to play: Tajara

What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): A reddish/cream color depending on options

Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes.

Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question

Why do you wish to play this specific race:

I was always a fan of the khajiit race of the Elder Scrolls, and I did enjoy how this race seemed to be a space faring sort cut from the same cloth. I also always believed that diversity is good in a role play environment, especially in such settings as fantasy and science fiction, which go beyond the borders of what we consider normal in reality. Furthermore, as the reason why I chose this race so far over others, I have to admit I love cats in general. I have always enjoyed playing those with feline features because they can be so much more expressive and interesting.

Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human:

For starters, they can be so much more expressive and different to just being a normal human. Their history is also different, and as a race that is further behind the rest of the galactic community it can make for interesting scenarios. I know there is going to likely be some discrimination as well, but I like the idea of overcoming adversity and still wishing to co-exist. It's a nice struggle with a race that is different from humanity, but has some qualities that are familiar.

Character Name: Lu'Nara Nazkiin

Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs

Lu'Nara was a female who was always fascinating with travelling to the great beyond. She was in full agreement with her clan that humanity and Tajara should work together as fellows, but not be forced to hold hands forever. To that end, she seeks to learn all that she can in hopes of helping advance her people, growing that much closer to standing on their own feet in the galaxy. Her youth works in her favor, as she has plenty of energy and is eager to do almost any job if it helps her learn.

Currently at the young age of 22, she spent her childhood deep in books and attending classes, her family taking full advantage of the increasing literacy rate of their people. As soon as she was old enough she submitted an application to apprentice herself on any station off world so that she could gain some hands on experience. She eagerly awaits whatever life has in store, ready to apply herself fully to whatever job she is given.

What do you like about this character?

I like her eagerness and willingness to learn. She is not one to cause trouble for no reason while still standing up for herself and being proud of her heritage. While still learning the ropes, she is not against asking for help or advice while taking her time to learn something. Since she is eager to learn, she can fit into any role, from trading to working robotics.

How would you rate your role-playing ability?

I have been roleplaying for years both tabletop and in other games like World of Warcraft. My ability is high since I love to be in character. I wished to come here from /tg/ station servers because I was rather sick of people just running around and ignoring their roles to do stupid things even when they weren't antagonists.

Notes:

It's not that your application raises any red flags or other warning signs, aside from the only character name offered being the character you applied to play. But it's not very strong. Lu'Naras backstory doesn't really say much, just that her family let her take off to human space and that she wants to learn from humans to help her people. Which I like as a concept, but I'm not really seeing a demonstration of lore understanding. The biggest issue I have is playtime. You've only be here on the server for about four days and made this application a day before playing. While there isn't a rule against importing characters so long as it's properly translated to our server's lore, I'm going to have to ask that you give it a couple weeks and some more playtime before applying. I think you could easily get a whitelist.
