Recommended Posts

BYOND Key: Meltharas

Character Names: Lucero Corogan - Roboticist, Jessica Robinson - Shaft Miner/Cargo Tech, Jeff Tombs - Janitor

Species you are applying to play: Tajara

What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Ruddy (Reddish)

Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes

Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question

Why do you wish to play this specific race: I have always enjoyed playing alien races, and have played a less-involved version of Unathi on other servers. I have greatly enjoyed reading up on the lore of the alien races and loved my interactions with other Tajara on the server. The Tajara also remind me heavily of one of my two favorite Elder Scrolls races, the Khajiit. Playing something like that in a sci-fi setting is something I think I would have a lot of fun doing.

Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: For starters, they speak of themselves in the third person at all times and tend to "purr" their Rs when they speak. They also have claws that deal extra unarmed damage, slightly better dark vision, and have a resistance to cold. On the downside they are slightly more affected by heat and tend to have to roll their suits down now and then. They also can't wear normal gloves, boots, or helmets and must have modified versions if they are to be worn. The four different breeds of Tajara also have their own special fur colors and tend to go into certain fields, like the M'Sai lean towards security or soldier work where the Njarir’Akhran tend to be more educated.

Character Name: Luna Darkovski

Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Luna was the only child born to an exiled Njarir'Akhran family, forced into the peasantry before the First Revolution saw the elimination of all noble houses. Growing up in the equatorial city of Al'mari, Luna's Grandfather educated her in reading and writing and made sure she received at least a basic education. Before his exile, Luna's grandfather was a respected doctor for the nobility, and the young female wished to follow in his footsteps from an early age, latching on to the stories he would tell. It was hard getting the proper education for such things, but when she was old enough the Humans that had irrevocably inserted themselves into Adhomai's history provided an opportunity for her, one that she was not willing to pass up.

When she was old enough, a recruiting officer for Nanotrasen took note of her aptitude and offered a scholarship with the Lunar University of Medical Science. She was thrilled for a chance to not only pursue her passion, but also to be able to do so while seeing other worlds. The cheerful girl studied hard, but made sure to make time to be social and learn how other races got along in the galactic community. Her birth name being too hard for most to pronounce, she took on the name Luna in honor of the moon where she felt her life was truly beginning. Several years later, the 25 year old Tajara had finished her two years nursing residency and looked forward to seeing how she could repay Nanotrasen with her skills, hoping to one day study even more to become a full doctor in time.

What do you like about this character? Though I have not gotten a chance to play her yet, I love the concept for her being a cheerful and friendly Nurse. I love playing both support roles and friendly characters, and Luna would give me a chance to play both at the same time. She is still young, learning, and maybe a bit naive, but she has so much room to grow as she is played.

How would you rate your role-playing ability? I would rate it rather high, at least an 8.5 or 9 out of 10. I have been roleplaying since mid high school in several mediums, making it about 14 years. I have played tabletop, MMOs, and even forum based roleplaying settings. I love being able to step outside of my own shoes and into those of another.

Luna has grave concerns what the Second Revolution will do to her people. One civil war was dangerous for her people, a second one in such short amount of time would be just as devastating if not moreso. That has also driven home her desire to learn medicine, as she wishes to contribute to her world in a way that doesn't cause pain. Still, her family lives in the area controlled by the People's Republic, and she fears what may happen if the Liberation Army wrests control. The entire situation has her terrified, so while she tries to put on a smile and focus on her work, she will be watching news from home intently. She does not hate Nanotrasen, though has concerns for what the selling of resources will do and simply wishes for a swift end to conflicts so that her people may at last know peace.
