I oversaw the treatment of Tom Jackson when they were brought in, and Cheshire oversaw the treatment of Captain Viatorem's stump until Yisheng could arrive to properly mount a prosthetic. We were informed by Ashley Paynter from robotics that they were not qualified to manufacture a prosthetic. I completed treatment of Mr. Jackson and informed him of the prosthetic situation. This is when Yisheng informed me that the Captain was in R&D (which I believed to be odd), and that he was planning on acquiring a hand. I was under the belief that he would coerce robotics into printing the prosthetics regardless. Soon enough, I saw that one of the operating rooms was in use. At this moment, I realized that Viatorem's loyalty implant must have failed, as no sane captain with a functioning loyalty implant would do such a thing that would cause such a scandal for the Company. That thing Captain Viatorem did was have a clone of his person made in the cloning lab, somehow circumventing the prerequisite that the cloned person must be from a cadaver, and then used this live human as a sort of organ farm to harvest the clone's right hand for his own benefit. This was not only a gross misallocation of company resources, but a possible breach of regulations and a definite ethical breach, which I informed both the Captain and Yiseng of. Both continued with the operation. After said operation ended, the Captain continued about his business, and the cloned body was left on the floor of the operating room. I saw this, and treated the cloned body as well as wheeled it to the ICU for a scan. Photos will be included in the notes section of this report as well as the scan report. I moved the cloned body to the patient ward in the medical sublevel and monitored its condiiton over the course of the rest of the shift where it was brought back to the Odin. Note, this was a cloned person who was SSD from the beginning, but a live human regardless. I feel the need to reiterate that this entire incident seemed to be one of the greatest breaches of ethics and law I have seen in my decade-long employment with Nanotrasen. The actions taken by Captain Viatorem for his own selfish benefit rather than waiting for the conclusion of the shift to receive a prosthetic aboard the Odin is absolutely disgusting. This is not a man I would entrust to a Captain's position. Did you report it to a Head of Department or IAA? If so, who?: No, there was not an IAA aboard, and the Captain was the subject of this report.Actions taken: N/A Attachments: EDIT: ((OOC note: The two lost their hands due to a ninja cutting them off, although I wasn't aware of this at the beginning and it was never mentioned ICly. I would like to note that the ninja also died before the captain got the new hand iirc. I'd like for CCIA to take that into consideration, as the only antag involvement was before the event reported. If this is ruled an OOC concern, I'll shift it over to a character complaint because this was stupid behavior as a captain, in my opinion.))
ForgottenTraveller Posted December 28, 2017 Posted December 28, 2017 Binning due to the severe injury caused by an antag. Waving the injury to non canon along with the cause to follow Superiorform's interest in not having the hand loss canon would have made no sense and the reason for forcing it into a canonical issue amounts to billing said captain for a unneeded expense in not using more of the protohuman that was created for said hand. It is more of an issue surrounding fiscal ethics than moral ones, wanting a flesh replacement over a mechanical one and being wasteful in it's procurement. incognitojesus The handwaving effort does not warrant making it IC on which it was shoddy grounds to start with a low end result, if you are so bothered an OOC complaint would be a better result given we do not attribute human rights to protohumans. They are expensive meatslab blanks as far as I am concerned.
