Itanimulli Posted February 7, 2018 Posted February 7, 2018 Not everyone is self-made. Some don't deserve to be here for any reason. Mars Hall, daughter of a particularly wealthy aristocrat by the name of Ares Hall, who'd rather have his legacy end up in politics, was sent by special request to N.S.S. Aurora. Why? Experience. Ares decided that he'd have her gain favorable marks on her resume, thinking that working on a station with as many diverse, dangerous, and arguably ridiculous scenarios would leave Mars with an extremely diverse skillet befitting of his legacy (though he himself is only skilled in the manipulation of the stock market). Dr. Quess Hall, her mother, decided that no daughter of hers was going to end up in a particularly violent station. After the analysis of countless NanoTrasen facilities, she reached out to Tau Ceti authorities and had them place her on what she herself considered the least violent system in all of NanoTrasen's influence: The N.S.S. Aurora. If you didn't see that plot twist coming, you'd better not be looking to be a detective. And so, Mars Hall, barely able to speak the local language of the station (vocabulary's easy, it's the damn syntax she can't seem to competently grasp), a former quadriplegic (formerly a paraplegic, the story behind both incidents is actually quite dull and idiotic, something only Mars could pull off), was sent off to make herself useful. Which, erm..Did not go to plan. Synopsis: Anyone who knows Mars may be able to attest that she somehow manages to stay both aloof and angry in almost any situation, and though she'll offer respect to her superiors, she'd sooner follow her own logic. Often times, her silence masks her off-putting attitude in the form of an outwardly reserved girl. That little charade disappears in an instant, the moment she catches wind of anything close to exciting, be that negative or positive. Her mind works fast, and that's either a blessing or a curse, depending on how you look at it. She questions nearly everything. She'll either find a solution to a problem, or not explain any of it to anyone and then end up bit in the ass by it later. If politics, such as preferences of Sol or Tau origin, pop up, even in a jokey-joke manner, and they don't give praise to 'Glorious Sol,' she'll either try and engage in an argument (despite her poor basic) or just remove herself from the situation. Other than that, Mars tends to hang around those who have an initially nice disposition. She latches on people who behave like this, and thus is fond of Dionae. She'll find excitement in meeting anyone from Sol. Random useless tidbits showcasing how pitiful Mars tends to be: Mars became paraplegic because of an incident involving selfies and rock-climbing. Now, any competent individual can attest that when on the side of the mountain, one should not pull out a phone and attempt to take a picture, especially at night, when the flash would be the most disorienting. Mars was not one of those individuals with this high amount of common sense. That escalated to quadriplegia in a fit of boredom. Ares Hall initially decided to let her live with her poor mistakes. Mars protested this by making herself into a dead weight, or: She had her (then) love interest fling her wheelchair down the side of Olympus Mons. She managed to escape with heavy bruising and broken arms, and she didn't even make it down Mons. She was given prosthetic limbs because of muscular atrophy and the infection of the wounds upon her arms, which themselves necessitated amputation. She could have easily afforded vat-grown limbs, but her father decided that she'd again have to live with, at the least, a constant reminder of her own bad decisions. Quote
