Theoretically, shouldn't everyone but the top scientific positions (maybe even those) be replaced with cheap, company-owned robots/borgs that don't collect pay, have a very small chance of fucking up and are 100% loyal and hardworking? bonus question: How are our character's pays? (Don't need exact numbers, just say shitty/meh/ok/good or something)

How do breaks and off-time work in-lore? Do all Trasen employees get a limited amount of off-time each shift? Are there station-wide breaks? Or does it work differently?

hey I don't know how to start this so here we go Give each character a procedural bank account that saves between rounds Make players earn money for their character by using that character during a round Allow players to spend the money on shift-start items or other goodies Change the ammount obtained based on the % of time actually spent playing the shift on that character AND the station's Total earnings "Total earnings" is the sum of work the research division carried out during a round. (Inventing items, reaching new research levels, breeding new slimes, creating new plants, discovering artifacts, etc) Give the department heads the ability to administer bonuses to individual crewmembers

For easy copy-pasting: I also made and uploaded a book version to the library network. Tell me if there's anything missing.

Doesn't have to change anything mechanically, just let the person eating it know his/her food is stale/cold. OR make it less filling. BUT WHY??? --> It's realistical --> Promotes more bartender-esk approach to playing the chef. Chefs could take orders and prepare food only when asked to, instead of making 20+ food items on round start and having nothing to do for the rest of the round

+1 Post this in suggestions pls

So If you guys don't consider Aurora to be heavyRP, do you consider any ss13 server to be heavyRP? (just wondering) EDIT: Can you give me an example of a heavyRP server/game? Any game.

[Accepted] vtipoman's Skrell application
vtipoman replied to vtipoman's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Thanks for responding! I understand what you're saying, but I'd like to try and justify these errors: (I might still be wrong though. Feel free to correct me) The thing is, Xamir is supposed to be rather young. Old enough to be considered an adult, but without a clear focus in his life. That's why I went with the jack-of-all-trades thing. He hasn't found anything he'd specialise in yet, and the civilian jobs he takes are just temporary. That's also why I went with the first name only. According to the wiki, "Name additions are a common facet of Skrell culture. While not necessary in Jargon society, it is common for a Skrell to add a name, word, or phrase to their name at some point in their lifetime. ". He, having just finished basic education, won't have any name additions. (And it would make for a cool RP moment to "adopt" one after a canonical round). As for the relations, he won't be very keen to meet or befriend machine-based races/Unathi. He'd try to avoid talking to them, but he won't stir up any trouble or start any conflicts. I imagine other Skrell would look down at him, maybe even despise him. He could try to befriend them and explain his decision, but I think he'd focus on meeting and befriending humans instead. -
I'd like the day-to-day life of ordinary people explained a bit more.

It'll also take anywhere between 5 and 20 minutes to get a round finally voted in. Don't tell me the game would need 20 minutes just to recalculate some votes.
-
RaD isn't fun anyway + all the other jobs / scientist sub-jobs have written guides, because a) The characters are expexted to know what they're doing b) No-one wants the Xenobiologist/Toxin-researcher/Xenoarcheologist to experiment and ruin everything c) The stuff we're doing on-board isn't research, anyway. Pretty sure RaD records are ICly deleted after each shift, and how to achieve them should be common knowledge. Same with breeding slimes or building bombs.

-It's not that complicated. From a voter's viewpoint, you vote only once -The other system can lead to an unpopular or broken gamemode being picked just because one guy voted for it, possibly ruining the round for everyone else The other system doesn't fix the problem of people strategizing and thinking about everyone else's votes. It just intruduces randomness into the mix. EDIT: STV still takes every single vote into account, but in a more fair, democratic way
-
This is how it'd work: 1.--> voting begins, you can select your favorite option, your second favorite, third, etc... (depends on the total number of options) 2.--> voting ends, one option "wins" 3.--> the option with the least votes gets removed and its votes are transfered to the voters's second options. 4.-->Repeat 3. until one option remains and is declared the winner Result: Everyone can vote without thinking about other people's votes and it'd be still fair EDIT: Pretty sure bay has this already?
-
Already thought of that but it doesnt apply to us because: * We dont have voting ranges * We dont have a council (but exactly 1 gamemode we can choose) I'd still work. --> voting ends, one gamemode "wins" --> the gamemode with the least votes gets removed and its votes are transfered to the voters's second options. -->Repeat until one gamemode remains Result: Everyone can vote for the gamemodes they like without thinking about what everyone else's votes EDIT: created my own suggestion thread to avoid confusion
-
Replace the current system with STV (single transferable vote)
-
Won't hurt to extend it to bigger mobs
-
It doesn't. Everyone kinda does whatever they want, with "I learned it off-station" as an explanation of skills their characters gained over time. ..Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't events not affected by the antag canon? Stuff like passive RP, for example.

BYOND Key: vtipoman Character Names: Kolton Richards, Elizabeth Raub Species you are applying to play: Skrell What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Grey-ish blue Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: I like the race's overall behaviour. I like how they value logic and intelligence and how calm and calculated they appear. Their lore is also interesting, and I love the idea of a peaceful race "betrayed" by it's own creation (talking about the Glorsh rebellion). Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Skrell are more peaceful, calm, prideful and calculated than humans. They seldom make quick, harsh decisions, because they absolutely hate making the wrong ones and having to admit their mistakes. Their way of speaking Basic is different, too. They speak in short, simple sentences, while trying to remove any excess or repetetive words, and they might have problems expressing emotion. They mostly eat "soft" or liquid food, and preffer plant-based diet. Skrell don't really care about genders, and won't mind being called by the wrong gender pronouns. They only enter conflicts if they know they'll succeed. Because of their headtails, they don't like wearing hats. Another thing to note is that, for the most part, they don't have any deities- their two major religions center around stars and science. Character Name: Xamir Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Xamir's parents met on a faraway mission. His father was a scientist, mother a doctor. They fell in love, and later were both cured of the genophage. They had three kids, Xamir being the youngest of the three siblings. The two older kids followed in their parents footsteps, becoming xenobiologists. Hovewer, Xamir didn't want to study- he wanted to learn, but not from books. He kept dreaming about adventures out in the frontier, about exploring the universe. He wanted to experience the world, not read about it. After discussing the matter with his siblings, he decided to pack his belongings and leave to explore the universe. Currently, he's travelling across different systems, ocasionally taking odd-jobs here and there. He keeps a small digital notebook, filling it with notes on his journey. Currently, he has no name addition. What do you like about this character? I wanted to create a Skrell with an interesting twist- instead of studying, he'd learn by exploring the universe. This would allow me to roleplay a typical Skrell character in a variety of civilian jobs. I'd love to roleplay discussing with other Skrell- about his past, and if his decision was right or not. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I'd say I'm a pretty good roleplayer. I played on a variety of heavy roleplay servers, including Bay and Pol and several Garry's mod HL2RP servers. I tend to create realistic, unusual characters. Characters that run away when something goes wrong. Characters that would rather surrender than fight. Characters that feel real, not like a videogame protagonist. Notes: If Xamir's backstory shows too... non-Skrelly, I might change it into a something more standart. Thanks!

Even if you guys delete this from the forums people will still share it amongs themselves.

Title. It could make sense.. Let's say the computers generate slightly different blueprints each time they "invent" something. Deleting the database would allow for new blueprints to be created, which could be potencially better than the previous ones.

What happens to people when they go to cryosleep? Do they get stored under the station? Do they get teleported away? And if they get stored, what happens to them during a red alert?
