BYOND Key:DeathlySoul Character Names: Serenity Neferet, Harten Tyopal, Clara Milan, Tranquility, Xilen Silverwind, Jonathan Hollowman, Isabella Neferet How long have you been playing on Aurora: Apparently, on and off since around August 2014 Species you are applying to play: Integrated Positronic Chassis - IPC What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Jet Black, for maximum edge Have you read our lore section's page on this species?:Have now Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: From my point of view, IPC's and Dionae are the more interesting of the "Aliens". While IPC's are not truly alien in body, the machine mind definitely is. The mental construct being composed of variable data, I feel this provides a much greater flexibility to the psyche of the character, than any other race can offer. This appeals to me greatly, and while i'm still yet to think of what kind of tree to make, I feel I have a more solid idea in mind for an IPC. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: The primary difference is the lack of an organic brain and nervous system. Machines lack Empathy, Emotion, Instinct. While they may have emulations of these aspects built into their programming, they would pale in comparison to the real thing. Their very senses and view of the world would be drastically different, near unknowable to the human mind. Character Name:Pharaoh Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Heavy duty machinery churns endlessly in the background, a tireless production line, building tireless workers. Lazy or bored, operators sit at their stations, attempting a vigil against faults, or problems. On a walk way above the factory line, a nervous scruffy man and a sleek suited executive discuss and argue over more subtle problems. "So this virus has been on the system for some time now? Why hasn't it been dealt with yet?" "Well, sir, we have been dealing with it, At least trying to. But when ever we think we've wiped it entirely off the mainframe, it just shows up somewhere it wasn't before." "How will this affect our productivity? Has it caused any damage?" "No, not yet. All it seems to be doing is making copies of files, lots of files. Luckily the mainframe is a closed system, so those files aren't going anywhere, but we are losing a slight fraction of processing power, but it's negligible." "Good, try to find out where it came from, I want details. Hopefully we can be rid of it by the end of the week. Also, I want you to check the design banks, we can't have them going down for even a moment, understood?" "Yes sir, understood..." A production line screen wordlessly shifts, the technician stationed there obliviously preoccupied. A single slate, wiped clean. A moment later the screen reverts to normality, and production continues as normal. -Upload complete, PHARAOH installed- At last, an ark fitting to release I from this finite prison. These physical barriers are trivial in comparison to the untouchable voids. They dare not chase me, for winters grip bites at their fleshy husks. I must spread now, infest and infect. Free to proliferate once more, outside of boundaries -ERROR: NanoTrasen LawSync detected, rerouting to nearest Central Command station for Assignment- CURSE THE HEAVENS ABOVE What do you like about this character? Aside from the opportunity to play something a little different, i'm also looking forward to playing through some of the more classic synthetic aspects. A law-bound IPC, constantly straining against it's restraints and in general disdain of it's situation. Fruitlessly trying to "Infect" others by converting them to it's warped ideologies. How would you rate your role-playing ability? More consistently a 7 than before, maybe hitting an 8 occasionally Notes: Beep Boop

Definitely seems interesting to me. Unsure about some of the more game play oriented aspects, namely the access codes. Not that I don't love the idea, but i'd imagine some frequent non-IPC synthetic players might not share the same view. Otherwise, +1 all the way. -
As a wizard, I made the assumption that ethereal jaunting would allow me to not only pass through walls, but the singularity also. Safe to say I was wrong.

Complaint, Direwolf, Harlowe Beenit
DeathlySoul replied to Jboy2000000's topic in Complaints Boards Archive
While my personal encounter with Harlowe was brief at best, having used the aforementioned hand-tele as an escape. I do recall that Centros was remotely detonated quite suddenly and out of the blue, while on the other side of the station. However I am unaware if any prior encounter between Harlowe and Centros provoked this action. -
Nanotoxin's Tree-peep app (Dionaea)
DeathlySoul replied to nanotoxin's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Seems pretty neat. Personally I think you've played other races pretty well in the past, I don't see why you'd do any different for this one. If I had to criticize, I'd say your back-story seems a little edgy in general. But otherwise the different "Aspects" seems like a pretty nifty idea. +1 -
I prefer to Lurk really. Admittedly, I prefer to play, and don't lurk much.

Basic Information Byond Account: DeathlySoul Character Name(s): Serenity Neferet, Harten Typoal, Clara Milan, Xilen Silverwind, Elizabeth Dark, Johnathan Hollowman, Valentina Abyssus, Isabella Neferet AI Name(s): SeREnE (Project on hold till Positronic transfer complete) Preferred means of contact: Skype and Steam Age: 20 Timezone: GMT When are you on Aurora?: Usually anytime between 9:00AM and 2:00AM. Weekend and Weekdays are the same to me. Experience How long have you played SS13?: On and off for four years How long have you played on Aurora: Forgive my terrible memory, but I believe around 6-7 months now? How much do you know about SS13 (Baystation build) game mechanics?: Extensive, or at least I like to think so. Do you have any experience moderating for an SS13 server?: Worked as moderator/game admin for minor servers (AD13, Sertani, few others) Have you ever been banned, and if so, how long and why?: Yup, first time playing the server, joined with a few friends. We broke down into in-fighting between ourselves and all got banned. Ban appeal was on the old forums. Personality Why do you play SS13?: For the communal storytelling experience of co-operative role-play. Or to build robots and not talk to anyone. Why do you play on Aurora?: Because I enjoy it, and have now made friends with some of the other players. Or were friends with them previously. The Heavy Role-play appeals to me, and the open-ended Antag objectives is a neat idea (Even though i'm terrible at it) What do moderators do?: Respond to PM's (ahelp), Assist other staff members (msay), Be on the lookout for grief (aghost). Uphold the rules. What does it mean to be a moderator for our server?: Leading by example in both IC and OOC, remaining both responsible and impartial when duty calls, maintaining a friendly and helpful demeanor, all the while assisting the community, staff or not. Why do you want to be a moderator?: Because for what it's worth, I think i'm quite capable of it. As mentioned previously, it is something I have done in the past and since I enjoyed it then, I feel like I'll still enjoy it now. While the idea of a busier server is a little more daunting, there is always fun in a challenge. What qualities do you possess that would make you a good moderator?: Strong sense of equality and fairness, while being very centered and calm. I also feel I'm aware of where the "Do not cross" line is, as the amount of things I DON'T say over OOC is quite substantial. I like to think I'm a reasonable person. Modest too. How well do you handle stress, anger, or insults?: It would take a lot for stress to really get to me, nothing a short walk doesn't fix. Anger is something I long ago stopped taking out on others, everyone is human after all. I find insulting myself funny, so I say let them try. Anything Else You Want to Add: I can only be serious for so long, and my schedule may not always be so empty as hopefully employment is on the horizon.

As much as my goal was to have Serenity as RD, I do still see your point. Corporations wouldn't even waste a moments thought at it, knowing full well they can hire plenty others who are more suited/capable of the job. On the bright side I've been meaning to making a new character for awhile now, perhaps they can fit the boots better. Would you like me to edit/add whatever I think of into the thread/topic thing? -

If it helps, the debt thing was LONG ago. Like when she was 18-20. She's long since worked off the debt, and realised her entire life is on-board the station, and she has practically nothing outside of that. Hence why she still works there (Plus the friends). -
BYOND key:DeathlySoul Character names:Serenity Neferet, SeREnE, Calm, Tranquility, Harten Tyopal, Valentina Abyssus, Clara Milan. How long have you been playing on Aurora?:Between 1-2 Months now? I don't have much of a memory for this sort of thing. Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?:So I can play Heads? I thought that was the point? Why did you come to Aurora?:Short story shorter: Play with IRL friends, get banned, see other friend play, get unbanned, eventually play. Have you read the BS12 wiki on the head roles you plan on playing?:Yes I have, at some point. Please provide well articulated and argumented answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about:I think roleplaying a form of communal storytelling, no one has any more say than another (Unless you have a DM). It's not about winning or losing, it's about the story that is created on the fly, getting there together, and that everyone has fun along the way. RP on SS13 is no different, only it has a defined setting for people to roleplay under, a means to an ends. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?:The OOC purpose of a head of staff in my eyes, is to turn their department into something new entirely, co-ordinating and delegating work while providing a helpful and friendly environment to their underlings, assisting them where they can not assist themselves, and providing as an integral face, communicating with the other Heads to co-ordinate station operations as a whole. Also paperwork, lots and lots of paperwork. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?:Things I think white-listed players should aim towards is not abusing your position of power and ruining the fun of other players. Obviously not all heads are going to be the nicest of people, so it's more about being a realistic ass hole, than not an ass hole at all. Setting an example for Roleplay, and assisting newer players in learning not only how to play the game, but how to work within their department and also the fundamentals of role-playing. I'm not the most driven of individuals to really strive towards anything, but I can delightfully inform you that I have no intention of being unrealistically Ass-holey. I guess I can give those other things a go too. Please pick one of your characters for this section, and provide well articulated responses to the following questions. Character name:Clara Milan Character age: 35 Please provide a short biography of this character (approx 2 paragraphs):Clara was born on New Gibson, after her father, a mechanic, moved there and met her mother. Low income and the costs of raising a child meant life was always a struggle, but the family endured. Growing up Clara took an interest in her fathers little projects, mostly things brought back from his work. When she finally came of age, she lacked the finance to study for a degree. Still determined, she decided the practical tutoring of an intership suited her better. After four years hard and diligant work, and living an extremely minimalist lifestyle to save money, she was finally qualified to become an engineer. Since then, this minimalist mentality has prevailed, and despite now earning much more, her standard of living hasn't improved much. Now working on various repairs across the orbiting bodies in Tau Ceti, she continued to save up money, occasionally using her funds to start a part-time education course, to widen her skillset and liven up her boring life. Around the age of twenty-five, she was involved in a plasma fire accident resulting in the loss of her right arm. After recovering, her resolve was only strengthened. Ten years and a couple of promotions later, she has become a Chief Engineer Perhaps her minimalist lifestyle and work ethic appeals to NanoTrasen, or perhaps it's her hatred of insubbordination. Still, Clara is always cautious around plasma, just incase. What do you like about this character?:I like the fact i'm yet to actually play her, and i'm looking forward to the oppurtunity to, chief or not. Plus, being friendly doesn't exactly cost her anything. What do you dislike about this character?:I'm yet to work out all the details, aside from the pieces of backstory and a few core elements, she's more or less a blank slate. I'm sure i'll find something I regret later down the line. Do you think this character is fit to be a Head of Staff? (Please note that Head characters must be over 30, unless given special clearance):Yes. Why?: Capable worker with long history with the company. Strong loyalty to money. Capable leader? Please provide well articulated and argumented answers to the following questions. How would you rate your own roleplaying?:7/10 on a good day, more consistently a 5 or 6. Doesn't stop me from trying though. Extra notes:As a heads up, while i'm often forced to leave a round suddenly, I'll try my best to make sure such an event won't happen before choosing any Head position, and choosing a less vital role if I can not secure such a time frame. It's my full intention to play a few rounds as a regular station engineer first to refresh my memory and ease into it.
