BYOND key: sh4rd Character names: Cody Nerva How long have you been playing on Aurora?: On and off for over four years now. In total I have played at least one hundred rounds of Aurora, especially since it is the main SS13 server I play. Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? I have received a few warnings from back when I was new to the game and I made some stupid mistakes, but I have done a good job of abiding by the rules, and I finally feel after a recent three day ban from a month or so ago as an antag, while trying to sow discontent amongst the crew, I made a stupid and subtle Among Us reference which I took too far and I accept full responsibility for. I have spent a lot of time since reading and rereading Aurora lore to ensure that I can create interesting and fun events for crew as an antag instead of resorting to such stupid means. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: The OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is to ensure that players have someone important who they know can be trusted both to teach them and to aid them when they need it, either IC or OOC. Heads of Staff are therefore the most crucial roles in my opinion as they are the go-to players for just about anything thanks to their high rank and clear dedication to the game. Without players applying to become a Head of Staff, and consistently playing a Head of Staff, the server would likely fall into chaos as the server stays a big mess of differently skilled players all wanting to do things that they can't do either due to a lack of permissions, not knowing whether it's a good idea, or just general motivation. It's for this reason that I also want to finally play a Head of Staff, because I want to try and aid those who are in a similar position that I have been stuck in for nearly four years now. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: To me, the head of staff fulfils an important role on the station. One of management, integrity, and as a role model. The heads of staff are players that have played Aurora extensively, learnt the systems and how to manage a crew, and dedicated a good portion of their time to getting a whitelist for a role they might not even enjoy. The heads of staff represent the best of the best for the server, and I am hoping to provide a great role model for players as I play Head of Personnel by ensuring the round is fun, there are always things to do, people's concerns are dealt with quickly and efficiently, and people playing slower roles, like librarian or visitor, with no idea of what to do, can come to me and get some help trying to make the game fun again, even if just for a round, without having to break any rules or even break character. Could you give us the gist of what is currently happening in Tau ceti and how it affected your character and their career? Of course there's the big phoron shortage which has been going on for a while now. That has caused him a few headaches as a quartermaster as he has had to basically scramble to gather enough phoron at times for the rest of the station, causing minor turmoil in his career, but every time he has managed to figure something out. There is also the big issues Admiral Frost is causing through his pirate acts like rounding up synthetics. This has helped push forward Cody's promotion as Nanotrasen essentially scramble for capable staff in charge, especially with the seeming lack of Head of Personnel staff (at least that I've seen.) What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? For now, I plan on playing Head of Personnel as I feel like I won't enjoy Head of Security and I don't feel ready nor experienced enough to play any other role, although I have a lot of experience working in the service industry on Aurora and dealing with people. And since some of my favourite moments on Aurora have come from paperwork and strict rules, I feel like Head of Personnel will be a fun and engaging role for many rounds to come. Have you familiarized yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles? I have. Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking.: Cody Nerva - Head of Personnel More Will Come Later Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? I do, and I will take extra caution to ensure I don't do anything that could get me stripped of this role. Extra notes: I feel I have evolved a lot since my ban, especially ICly, and I feel more confident than ever that I can provide a fun and interesting RP experience for the crew, incorporating features and bureaucracy that I feel has been lacking so far on the station in any meaningful way. I'm hoping that my approach to head of personnel will help elevate the stories and experiences of everyone playing.

THERE IS AN IMPOSTOR UPON THE STATION. BE WARNED. THEY ARE NOT AFRAID TO KILL. THEY COULD BE IN THE WALLS, IN THE VENTS, EVEN RIGHT BEHIND YOU. DO NOT SAY I DIDN'T WARN YOU." I will admit, it was a subtle hint at Among Us, but I made the mistake of ignoring a moderator when they told me not to do it and I faced the consequences. I feel like I have learnt my most crucial lesson from that ban and I finally feel comfortable enough that I can follow the rules consistently and take on more responsibility. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Extra notes: I understand the ban might not seem like a great thing for me to have in this position, but I promise the ban was a simple mistake that I made while tired and I deeply regret. I have made twice the effort within the server ever since to try and make up for this mistake, as I feel I have proven with my most recent and, in my opinion best, character, Asami Yamamoto (Librarian). Most of the mistakes I make and warnings I got are from when I play antagonist, but outside of that, I feel like I am a great roleplayer that can easily stick to the rules, I have just struggled with finding the boundaries as antagonist in the past, although I finally feel like I have 100% found them with this recent ban, and now I ensure that everything I do, as antagonist and not, is IC, fun, and fits perfectly into the universe.

BYOND Key: Sh4rd Total Ban Length: 3 Days (3420 minutes) Banning staff member's Key: mattatlas Reason of Ban: "Making among us references as a vampire gimmick. Yes, while technically saying "There is an impostor upon the station, be warned, they are not a fraid to kill, they could be in the walls or in the vents" and "There is an impostor among us" are not technically among us references, the intent is still quite clear. You have a bad note history that spans from 2018 to 2021.. Reason for Appeal: The note that I wrote was: "A MESSAGE TO ALL OF AURORA. THERE IS AN IMPOSTOR UPON THE STATION. BE WARNED. THEY ARE NOT AFRAID TO KILL. THEY COULD BE IN THE WALLS, IN THE VENTS, EVEN RIGHT BEHIND YOU. DO NOT SAY I DIDN'T WARN YOU." As mentioned in the ban reason, this was clearly not a direct Among Us reference, nor was it immersion breaking in my opinion. I made this note as a vampire to sow distrust among the crew, so that I could more easily manipulate the crew, and make my life as a vampire easier. I will admit, I got the idea for this note when an admin made an Among Us joke in AOOC, hence the intent. However, I did not intend to go any further with the Among Us references apart from using the words "impostor" and "vents" which are normal words you would use in every day conversations anyway. Before Among Us became popular, this note wouldn't have been considered a meme at all. After putting the notes up all around the station, I heard crewmembers making much more direct Among Us references than my note, saying things like "impostor among us", but I do not believe they were punished, nor do I believe it is fair to do so. I do believe my note to be a simple, light-hearted, and indirect reference to Among Us, a game with many similarities to SS13. But I believe it to be even more a threat to the crew, which was the main intention for the note. mattatlas also mentioned my warning history, which I will admit, isn't great. However, most of my warnings are from many years ago, especially back when I was new to SS13. And some of them, most notably the "going SSD instead of cryo-ing" warning, where a power outage prevented me from being able to return to SS13 and cryo my reporter character, were out of my control. My most recent warning was from 5 months ago, and I accept that I did make a mistake back then, one which I have learnt from and have improved upon. But the next warning is from two, almost three years ago at this point, as I try to stay out of trouble while playing Aurora as it is my favourite server on SS13. In conclusion, I do not believe this three day tempban to be fair, and I try to limit myself to completely unique, immersive roleplaying scenarios while playing in the future. I do hope you understand my point of view and unban me and I have recently gotten back into the habit of playing on Aurora daily, and I would hate to have that passion fizzle out yet again thanks to a simple misunderstanding.

THE AURORA TRIBUNE IS HIRING Hello all! I am Stuart Blackwell. I run the highly popular news organization, the Aurora Tribune. We had temporarily suspended activities for some time so that we could sort out a change in power. However, we are finally back and looking to hire new and dedicated reporters! If you believe yourself to be a good writer and a good people person, then please send me a private message, respond to this advert with your contact information, or come and find me on-station. Specifics can be discussed in private. All of your work shall be lightly edited and shown to everyone so please make sure that it is professional and as unbiased as possible. The best reporters may one day become famous! Associate Reporters If you're reading this and the life of a reporter sounds interesting but too time-consuming for you, then you can become an associate reporter. This will allow you access to all of our power and resources while allowing you to keep your current job and work to your schedule. Associate reporters will be able to hand in any articles they decide to write, and if they are deemed to be good enough for the newspaper, then you will get a fair commission fee for your time. You won't make as much as a proper reporter, however, you will still be able to make a satisfying amount of money, and make an even more satisfying change to people's lives as you document all of the wonderful, or not so wonderful, things about our station and our universe.

This idea would be very beneficial. I find that injuries are basically pointless as I can go to medical and immediately have them fixed. This takes away from the RP massively as I don't have to make any hard decisions when in medical about my health or a patient's if I am playing as a doctor. Adding these side effects would help improve the RP massively and make antag rounds and major accidents very entertaining.
