  1. ...why are their organs mechanical...? The only mechanical bit about them in the lore is their breathing apparatus, which is less than 'vital' provided they have plasma to breathe. Even without, this should just mean they start to suffocate and lose the ability to speak tau ceti basic. Have you disabled their healing capacity? They are entirely hemophilic as a species, and that's the only way I can think to implement that.

  3. Are you accusing Nightmare of metagaming? This is why complaints are not to be posted until the round in question is over.

  5. I was one of the duty officers receiving faxes from the IAA about the incident. The investigation was sparked by Nasir Ha'kim and Katelynn McMullen. As far as I could tell, Safiya Isra took no steps to appeal through the IAA, instead going to cryo and making a player complaint.

  7. Nope. Wrong. That would be metagaming, using OOC knowledge, concerns, and whatnot to affect IC actions. Everything played out naturally in character, completely separate from your attempted hugboxing in this thread. All I'm seeing here is you claiming the inability to irradiate your own genome is ruining the game for you.

  9. Really? That’s what your going to go with? Let’s take a raise of hands, how many people think the captain will ever be punished ic for doing anything short of just shooting a cat? Now let’s take a raise of hands of how many xenos are going to have an unfun time rping with this damn captain. This is whitelist abuse because he’s using his position of power to create an unfun time for a large majority of players. Do not presume to know what the Duty Officers are working on, thank you very much. Now, your complaint boils down to this: "Eight mins into the round Chaznoodles as captain denied a signature for a permission for me to be outside of genetics after testing. For those that don’t know unless you get this signature you either spend the entire round cooped up in your lab or cooped up in the brig...His actions completely shuts down any potential of doing anything with genetics." Which is completely within his rights to do as a captain, although he is expected to defer to the Research Director on the matter.... which he later did, upon consultation. The only grounds you have in this situation is the fact that his character is racist. Which, is allowed.

  11. The captain was threatening to shoot tajarans because they continued to speak catspeak on public communications channels. Not only is speaking anything other than Tau Ceti Basic on the general channel a misuse of communications and punishable by fines and brig time, this is an IC issue, not an OOC issue. Yes, you see, Nanotrasen WOULD employ people like this, because even though it's so hard for many Tajaran players to realize, Tajarans are widely discriminated against by humanity. There are entire (majority) factions of humanity centered around mistrust of all other species, and Tajarans are not going to be handed a free pass just because their players don't want to deal with it. Yes, there are people who don't like your Tajarans because they're Tajarans. Yes, some of these people are in positions of power. Yes, many of these people have been in said positions of power since before Tajarans were even discovered. No, this is not an issue. Yes, it can and should be resolved IC'ly. No, it should not be punished and curbed OOC'ly.

  13. This is not whitelist abuse. Racism exists in the Aurora universe, and is a viable option for anyone to have, so long as it is not manifest in self-antag lynch groups and hate crimes (outside of traitor rounds). Making a player/character complaint every time someone makes a legitimately, openly racist character is essentially just railroading others' roleplay in order to make this server into even more of a hugbox than it already is. This is not an OOC issue, it is an IC issue, and this complaint was also posted DURING the round in question, meaning it is against the rules of the board it is posted in. The captain did not override the research director's opinion that you should be allowed to self-test, which means he did not overstep his bounds. No exceeding of official powers occurred, no member of command staff is obliged to sign that waiver of yours, and sometimes your boss is going to snub you. It happens, it's part of life.

  17. 1. Your character's actions were the issue, not the nature of your character. If your character were unbelievable, then I would have made a character complaint about him. Additionally, I never said that you were not RPing with those who you interacted with. 2. I am perfectly willing to consult with people face to face, but I decided that it was not an endeavor worth pursuing due to the attitude expressed in your own statement, which I screencapped and attached to my complaint. 3. The complaint was not in regards to the event, nor my frustrations with it. My complaint was with the actions of those who were... not actually involved in the event, as far as I could tell. The existence of any cult antagonists was unknown to me, and was such a non sequitur to the rest of the round that I readily dismissed it as a fabrication at the time. I am not going to argue with you about this, it was a misunderstanding and I already called for my complaint against you to be closed and disregarded upon clarification.

  19. Oh, that explains it. It was just the piss-poor excuse for an event, then. This complaint can be closed, wasn't his fault.

  21. BYOND Key: Contextual Player Byond Key: GhostInSpace Staff involved: None Reason for complaint: Exploiting event circumstances in order to self-antag Approximate Date/Time: 9/11/2015 During a 'prison' round, Jacob Stahl had not been transported to the 'prison', much the same as several others on the station. He used this situation in order to spin a yawn about how 'Stahl is dead' and rather, his 'vessel' was being controlled by some other nebulous plot device in order to allow him to go about killing anyone he found on the station. I doubted this at first, and was willing to give Stahl the benefit of the doubt as the 'prison' round was rather... abstract to say the least, but the player's comment after the round led me to realize that my suspicions were correct in that it was a load of bogus. Evidence attached.

  23. This is actually very, very true. Depressingly so. Not that it is in any way directly linked to the code for their aliens, mind you, but there is exponentially more roleplay on their server despite these aliens being "too strong" for roleplay purposes. And frankly, in regards to aliens, the roleplay that is had there is the right kind of roleplay. It's not all gung-ho snowflakes, unflinching in the face of gore and death, but honestly terrified soldiers with morale, fears, and shortcomings. Contrast this to how our server deals with aliens, or really any round type, and you'll see exactly what Delta means. I'm not saying that this code will fix the issue that's been plaguing this server for a long while now, but having a nebulous foe that the crew and likely even the ERT cannot overcome would definitely be a step in the right direction. For a long, long time, the grand ideal I heard touted about this server was that it's not about winning or losing, it's about roleplay. So then, why all the concern about having an enemy that, more often than not, cannot be overcome? We're not a competitive server.
