The religion of peace. Rather, the religion of pieces. Lots of tiny pieces.

You have my attention, and my affirmation. Then I'll keep this brief. It doesn't take a Research Director to figure out what was going on here. It sounds like you yourself were ignoring the context of the round, and I'd advise that you step back and re-evaluate while keeping it in mind. If you're still upset with the outcome, good! That was the point of his actions as a head revolutionary. Did anything ever come of this? You left it in a void, implying that it may or may not have led to something, anything. Did the cadet just walk away? Did he continue assaulting you? Did he say anything? Did others punish him? Did they support him? Was there any LOOC discussion? Were you suspicious at all of a cadet with a shotgun? Were others? Could there have been a reason for him to have had a shotgun? Was he an antag? XanderDox, it sounds to me like you got overly attached and OOC'ly infuriated with a situation that was intentionally and legitimately antagonistic. Just calm down and re-evaluate. To address the OP, I'm personally not a fan of non-antag RDs, simply because they all seemingly have superhuman powers of intuition and wisdom, and are borderline omnipotent if not omniscient. Doing the jobs of their underlings to "save time" and doing more to stifle roleplay than to legitimize it(intentionally or not). But an antagonist RD? They technically have that particular expectation, the one that says they're supposed to be reasonable, completely lifted. Let your underlings run rampant! Sign off on that battlemech! Distribute cybernetic 'enhancements'! Be an evil scientist, breed xenomorphs in xenobiology, tamper with the messaging server for your own amusement, lead a crusade on the asteroid to retake the holy city of [insert other outpost here]! You don't have to be violent, or shady. Be a nutter, or criminally negligent! You have the most freedom of any job on the station to do what you want, and if people metagame? Just ahelp it! What does a security officer know of xenobiology? Since when was the AI your supervisor? Does that captain even have a background in the applied study of astrophysical pyroclastic flow? Call him out! You alone have the power to alter things in your favor, to open new avenues of roleplay to those around you that would otherwise be considered "illegal" or "irresponsible". Wield it, go forth and conduct SCIENCE*! *goggles not included. But you're evil, who cares?

The only way I will believe you're not a phony is if you post a timestamp on the profile Taffy dug up, with your username and the word 'Aurora'. Until then, nah. Link if you do though.

Character Complaint - Meowness
Contextual replied to Demonofthefall's topic in Complaints Boards Archive
Phoebe Essel commonly issues death threats. This pales in comparison. Not to say, of course, that Phoebe is a problem character--it's simply a double standard. People (Tajaran) players seem to prefer going straight to complaining OOC about others, as opposed to going through proper IC channels. Phoebe Essel has an incident report against her, yes, that predates the DO program. Does she have any actual complaints? Yes, one, and it was overturned. Mrychny Lyar has no incident reports against him, and this, his first complaint, is claiming that it is an OOC issue. My question would be, have you ever actually interacted with him to see if it fits his character? Have you even tried? -

Weird. No one said this about Phoene Essel, even though she does.... well, just about the exact same thing. Maybe she gets away with it because she's not hating Tajaran? Or maybe because 'yeah, fuck humies'? -
Reporting Personnel:Desmond Thomson Rank of Reporting Personnel:Captain Personnel Involved: Ryker Azoth, Sarita Adj'ir Time of Incident: 10/13/2457 Location of Incident: Nature of Incident: []Workplace Hazard []Accident/Injury []Destruction of Property []Neglect of Duty [x]Harassment []Assault [x]Misconduct [x]Other: Admission of guilt Overview of the Incident: At some point during the shift, an engineer by the name of Sarita Adj'ir had a minor misunderstanding with Security, leading to some degree of venting her frustrations on the engineering channel. As her coworkers consoled her, one Ryker Azoth stated, quote, "I once used a remote signaler to lock the head of security in his office." He later claimed to have escaped punishment by virtue of having never been caught, taking some manner of pride in this alleged action. Did you report it to a Head of Staff or IAA? If so, who?: Additional notes:

I am not convinced that this is not a sexually-driven suggestion. Seems to me like bringing in the ERP equivalent of a loaded gun, leaving it on the counter where the degenerates can reach it. It's an enabler.

Medical records. Spoiler'd because of spoilers for MGSV.

Haruspex left over a personal disagreement with Doomberg. It was nothing of any official capacity or relevance, but he aplarently felt with Doomberg being promoted to headmin as though he would not be welcomed back, or be chased off one. So he left, not wanting to play with someone he had so vitriolic a disagreement with as the headmin. Wasn't really any perosnal reason, more of a misunderstanding and a fear of abuse of power. As I understand it, at this point, he has moved on from SS13 with no real hard feelings. It's a fair bet anyone saying it was anything more dramatic than that is just out to start something.

You say that they're normal, that there is nothing wrong with them... but the focus seems to be on thigh-highs and stockings, inundated with ellipses and sexual overtones.

Furry/Firstact (Rasul and Safiya Character Complaint)

Note that the two in question did not make the escape shuttle. By round's end, neither had left the Aurora. -
Let me put on the table that beyond both Miraj and Damarik, there are yet more chemists and scientists on the station developing grenade-based products and prototypes. Is this bad? Not inherently. Is it unique? Not quite, but it's the spin that matters. But here's the rub. This item will give you an inherent advantage. This is against the rules. Not to mention, realistically, without a lot of red tape and signatures, Odin security would never allow your scientist to come and go with these nondescript grenade casings complete with timer-igniter assemblies unmolested. And then, as the lovely red cherry on top, anyone familiar with the medbay layout and/or longstanding chemists from before the map change knows that there is a crate in medbay storage that contains: 3 Igniters 3 Timers 4 Grenade Cases (reg) So, you already have grenades* at your disposal. The only point of this item, then, is to give you more, which frankly you shouldn't have the time to test anyways in the span of a normal round. If you are already using your prototypes on the crew in live-fire situations, then quite frankly your character is conducting a big ol' science no-no. *some assembly required.

That, uh. Doesn't reflect too well on you as a player. -
Character Complaint: Rasul Mo'Taki, Safiya Isra
Contextual replied to Baka's topic in Complaints Boards Archive
This is unable to be pursued IC'ly on behalf of the RD, as they IC'ly can know nothing of the incident due to CMD. Irregardless, the actions of Rasul Mo'Taki are entirely unbecoming of their whitelist, and either course would be acceptable. The RD was not on station during this period of time. Additionally, those involved in the open racism recieved warnings for their behavior, continued despite them, and were brigged thirty minutes into a two hour round. They were released an entire hour later. If you want to say they were allowed to carry on, feel free, but know that they recieved worse punishment than most legitimate antags for their unceasing belligerence. -

Baka's character died and was cloned. He could not have any memory of the incident. -
Hi. I know you guys hate when people jump into the fray like this, but the bug FFrances was dealing with is very, very real. It's from Bay's germ code. Basically, germs are killed by spaceacillin, and don't count as infections--but, they come from them. So if an infection occurs, that person will slowly gain germs, which will themselves gradually increase in number on their own until it snowballs out of control with exponentially rising toxins levels. Once germs get out of control, there is no saving the patient. The problem is not localized to any one portion of the body, cannot be amputated, and is not affected by any organs. The best you can do is put them on life support and pray that a crew transfer comes in time before the damage outstrips the healing you can do. This damage can skyrocket as high as, I've seen on my own patient, ~60 damage per tick toxins. The code is so bugged, that sometimes even rejuvenations will not fix it. Sometimes they have to be rejuvenated several times. All of the treatments I've caught wind of in this thread for that incident were legitimate and viable for the situation at hand. It is unfortunate that the admin involved was so terribly biased against the player that no investigation was conducted, as even a cursory one would have revealed the issue. Chemistry is not allowed to bring chemicals out of the lab, aside from medicines, without paperwork. Same with research. No chemicals, guns, laser scalpels, any of that outside of research without paperwork. Same with engineering. Walk around in a firesuit, gasmask, and fireaxe? Expect trouble. Same with security. No weaponry without paperwork on code green. Same with botany. No anomalous plants outside hydroponics without paperwork. Same with the bartender. No shotgun outside bar without paperwork. Same with roboticists. No robots outside the lab without paperwork. No mechs at all without paperwork. Same with xenobiologists. No slimes outside the lab without paperwork. Geneticists are not special. They do not get exempt from this rule just because they have 'feelings.' Do the paperwork, present your case, and move on. If you see others breaking the rules of paperwork, report them to security. If security doesn't care, file an incident report. I promise you the DOs care. A lot.

The only problem here is that regular Vaurca don't have neural tubes, only CA (queens) do. Instead, they have a neural socket, which unless hooked to said neural tube has absolutely no effect on their function, and they could easily live without. Replace it with a breathing apparatus and you're golden.
