  1. If you mean the mention of another Android on my Moderator Application, I previously had another character called "Android". It was a generic NanoTrasen Android, and every round it was a new one. It was my way of getting into the server. It was never Andy, however. However if you meant my mention on a different post about another android named ANDY misbehaving or however they were acting to get a slightly bad reputation, I never met that one either, but a few people assumed I was them. Lastly, if you meant my mention of multiple Androids named "Android" roaming around, I've activated a few posibrains on Andy. One of them took Andy's name because they wanted to be like him, and one of them took his name because he told it that names are what other people call you, and he had called it "Android" before it had picked a name.
  2. The slowness is certainly RP'd in a unique way. It's funny, at first, but for long sentences it becomes somewhat tedious. Perhaps if this becomes a problem, you could find another way of giving the impression that you're speaking slowly, without breaking it up into single word segments? (Hey, talking is hard when you have to deliberate amongst hundreds of other people about what the next word to say is. Perhaps he has a particularly argumentative consensus.) My honest opinion, though? Take a hint from the Ents of old Earth's stories; Anything worth saying is worth taking a long time to say. Sure, it's tedious, but that's an IC problem. Andy will never lose patience. Speaking of Andy, does anyone have anything to say about him?

    The name SAM

As a sidenote, Andy has had his name inherited by an Android he's created twice. I'm not sure if the characters stuck, but having three Andys on the station sounds really confusing.

    The name SAM

While it sucks that you're being blamed for things that you aren't doing, I have a few things to say about your problem... 1. Doesn't this seem like an IC issue? Shouldn't you complain to the characters who are mistaking your character for another synthetic IC? 2. When you have a name like Sam, a name which millions of other people have, one should by no means have any expectations that anyone would shy away from using it just because you used it too. I remember being mistaken for another Android called ANDY on my character Andy. They apparently did some sexual harassment-like RP or something and some people were avoiding me for it. I thought it was pretty funny. If it makes it any better, Andy never mistakes a synthetic for another. c:
  5. BYOND Key:TheCritsyBear Character name:Android Item name:Advanced Language Processing Board Why is your character carrying said item to work? As Andy finally bought his own, independent chassis, his financial goals turned from freedom to upgrading his utility to better suit his campaign as the friendliest Android on the station. One of the first objectives he determined would help him communicate with the many, many species that he holds dear to his heart, is the ability to understand what they are saying. Android is the creation of ever-increasing variety of species and ethnicity, and though at one time he was able to understand them as if it was second nature, this ability was stripped from him as well as any other hardware not deemed necessary for function when he became an independent machine. This loss in particular has hit him rather hard, causing a rift between him and many of his closest friends, some of which he considers the closest things to family that an Android could have, as well as causing him to lose one of his favorite functions: Inter-species conflict resolution. Item function(s): In order of most realistic to most awesome: 1. A fluffed universal recorder, given the sprite of a circuit board. 2. A fluffed universal recorder, given the sprite of a circuit board and a shorter range when playing back messages. 3. A universal recorder-like object that plays back messages (To a very short range) as it receives them. 4. Some kind of one-use object to use at the start of the round in order to understand (But not speak, preferably.) a xeno language or two. (Used like an E-Mag, perhaps?) Item description: A slightly advanced, but not uncommon upgrade module considered to be the cheapest of its kind. It has the markings of an independent retailer- not standard NanoTrasen hardware. Item appearance: Generic Circuit Board Additional comments: My first item application, isn't that cute? c: Don't worry, I don't honestly expect anything flashy like the last two types I listed, but hey, to shoot for the stars and possibly hit is better than to not shoot at all and miss for sure.
  6. I realize this is petty, but the most important mistakes to me were...
  7. d
  8. Perhaps I am not the best person to ask that question, because to me, they are the same things. I'm afraid I can't really form a bias either way, as in my opinion, to neglect fun is to neglect roleplay, and to neglect roleplay is to neglect fun. I come to the server to RP in a fun game, not just to RP, and certainly not just to play a fun game. To me, the game wouldn't be fun if there wasn't any roleplaying, and there wouldn't be any roleplaying if there wasn't any fun.
  9. She never seemed to mind when Andy understood. ;P Also he has a little trick to show her when they see eachother again.
  10. I for one support the "Whitelist" system that was discussed here. That way, you would have less people who speak cat just to make their characters seems special or because they like cats or simply because they're a furry, but have people who have actual IC reasons behind knowing the language. For instance, at one point the ability to understand, but not speak Siik'maas was an important part of Andy's RP, however in the transition to an IPC he somehow lost it. Andy spends a lot of time around many different Tajarans, and a few of them are among his closest friends. Considering he is a supercomputer on legs, it seems appropriate (And I dare say logical) that he would at least be able to understand the species that he spends so much time around.
  11. I'm just going to say that I like Thundy, and I've never seen the fights that the others speak of. I have no idea of the validity of the claims, but if they are true, she is a pretty good player at other times. I have seen the admins we have currently start raging about things over Teamspeak, starting arguments and such, but as they are admins, nobody seems to care. I'm not trying to insult the admins, I'm saying that even though they get into arguments and yes, believe it or not, get mad sometimes, they are still perfectly fine, and I do say, pretty good staff regardless. Perhaps you should not dwell on the arguments Thundy has had in the past, but the good points. If you'll recall, she already included roughly what you guys are saying in her application, so stating it again is redundant regardless.
  12. An Android and a Cyborg head out into space to capture a combat drone for robotics. Only one comes back. Safe to say, Androids are obviously the superior form of robotic life, as both the drone and the cyborg were dispatched. Andy wins the day.
  13. Antagdroid, Hackeddroid: (Nebula, you may remember this from the first round Andy and Karima met. Y'know, when Karima hacked him. ;P) Okay, perhaps it isn't that funny. But later:
  14. Well, the first place I was ever in a position of moderation was as an admin for a Minecraft server. Very little correlation between this and roleplaying, but there was a lot more griff and a lot more angry kids. I was a Game Master in a World of Warcraft Pure-RP Private Server, but as I recall, the roleplaying quality was truly, utterly horrible. I was a moderator for a roleplaying clan, who brought their RP to many different venues, such as NWN, Warcraft 3, ect. Anywhere where RP was possible. (Edit:) I forgot at least one. I was a moderator for a HL2RP server on Gmod. Very taxing as it's a pretty strict setting, and everyone either wanted to be a Superhero Maverick or Robo-Cop but with a penis that likes to follow anyone of the opposite gender. I've personally run a Neverwinter Nights server as a Dungeon Master, for a few months, as well as my own private server on WoW. Currently I am yet again a Game Master for a WoW server, but it's not very demanding as it's a Hamachi server that's only on occasionally. I know, these aren't very impressive when I've written them all down, but they all involve at least a few roleplayers and people who don't get along with anyone else ever.
  15. Basic Information Byond Account: TheCritsyBear Character Name(s): Android (Andy), Android (Generic Android), Christopher Ursieu, Snake Samurai, Nibbles, Nibbles II. AI Name(s): Andy, Android (Also Andy.) Preferred means of contact: In order of preference; Skype, Steam, BYOND, Teamspeak, Private Messages, E-Mail, Phone Calls, Text Messages, Paper Mail, Letters Attached to Horse Heads in my Bed, and lastly, Actual, Physical Speaking. Age: 19 Timezone: UTC-05:00 (EST) When are you on Aurora?: This is most likely a negative point, but it's difficult to predict. Lately my schedule has been a little strange, but previously I was on every night from 1 AM to 7 AM. Experience How long have you played SS13?: 6 years. Not to imply that I was playing it constantly during that time. How long have you played on Aurora: July of last year? I'm not totally sure, to be honest. I used to know. How much do you know about SS13 (Baystation build) game mechanics?: I am a devoted data-miner and a master wiki-enthusiast. I know anything that is needed to know in any practical sense, and even some non-practical knowledge to add some spice to it. Do you have any experience moderating for an SS13 server?: No, but I'll write more about that later. Have you ever been banned, and if so, how long and why?: I was banned, once, when I was new. I started ranting about how the roleplaying server I was playing on was covered in poop and buttbots (Thank god for Baystation.) and I couldn't escape the *farts anywhere. I was also banned because an admin on a different roleplaying server started playing really loud music, covered the shuttle with a flashing gif of a bagel, and blew up the station. I said "What the hell was that?" and was subsiquently banned for "Fag." Personality Why do you play SS13?: The roleplaying. Plain and simple. Why do you play on Aurora?: The roleplaying. Additionally, I've made some friends here. The community and quality is the best I've found so far. What do moderators do?: When someone is butthurt, or genuinely confused, they make an ahelp. There are so many ahelps that admins can't get to them all. When something breaks, there isn't always an admin there to fix it. When someone is being naughty, an admin isn't always online or immediately there to help. That is where the moderators are used, and what their duties entail. Trusted enough to fill in for an admin when none is there, but not enough to provide with the tools of their superiors. What does it mean to be a moderator for our server?: To sustain a fun atmosphere, ensure roleplaying integrity, and to bring justice to those who would besmirch the rules. Why do you want to be a moderator?: What can I say? There are a lot of bad things that happen when I'm on but an admin isn't, and the only reason is a lack of staff to cover that timespan. Additionally... I'm a sucker for events and helping people out. What qualities do you possess that would make you a good moderator?: An IQ ~150. A kind, but logical approach to helping people. Full knowledge of the rules, as well as common sense to fill in when there are none to cover something. Experience maintaining control over ~30 people at once and ensuring the fun times of all. How well do you handle stress, anger, or insults?: While I don't become stressed or anger very often, I often respond to insults quite defensively, in that I attempt to calmly rebut the claim. Never rage, however. When I become stressed, I normally just take a minute to do something else. When I become angry, my fury usually rears its head as a higher propensity to use big words. Anything Else You Want to Add: While SS13 has never been a venue wherein I have moderated, I do have experience being in a position of power in many other places. If desired, I will list them, but it would take up unnecessary space if nobody requested it. While I don't know any of the commands for SS13 per se, I am very good at learning on my own, and can learn quite quickly. So, it shouldn't be a problem.
  16. NO IT'S NOTHING BUT A SICK TOOL FOR ROBO-ERP HOW SICK CAN SOMEONE B-- Zip deserves to have this item. I hope you can e-mag it. +1
  17. THINK OF THE SHENANIGANS THINK OF THE FUN Shenanigans and fun aside, Wesley is still a character that somehow manages to be an extremely responsible, respectful smartass. He's well suited for the slow times (Read: Dead hour.) as well as emergencies. I think he'd make a great head. The player is a great RP'er, too. +1
  18. Consider this constructive criticism: I think your story would pass, if it payed respect to these two details.
  19. Telescientist may be reserved for being in a robot chassis rather than IPC. I've thought about it, and like some of it, but telescience is much easier as a robot. But, I'm thinking of my job priority list as IPC Andy being as follows: Medium: -Librarian (Provided I don't see Victoria online. I wouldn't want to take the job away from her.) -Psychologist (If I continue to not see the other IPC psychologist around. I had a dream of Andy being a psychologist before I knew about her, unfortunately. ;c) -Scientist (Telescience specialty, Robotics if needed, General if nobody else beats him to it.) Low: -Android -AI -Chef -Roboticist Note that it is very likely that I will override this priority list if my mood calls for a specific job.
  20. Sometimes, when Android has finished everything he needs to do, and isn't presented with something immediatley, he does extra credit and prepares the Robotics Lab in the most common configuration, regardless of if there is a roboticist working there, or even on the station. I know, probably less magical than him randomly moving things. That roboticist in particular, though, proceeded to beat Andy then go SSD in the middle of the floor. I wish I caught it on video so I could make some joke commercial for a made-up Galactic Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Androids (GSPCA).
  21. Don't worry, I'm quite attached to him in his current as well. I'm not sure when I'll take the step, being as resistant to change as I am, but I would hope it'll have some kind of IC justification to commonly be spawned as a normal Android still, or even AI on occasion. (Additionally, I wouldn't make such a big change without consulting the people I feel would care.)
  22. BYOND Key: TheCritsyBear Character Names: Android (Andy), Christopher Ursieu, Snake Samurai, Nibbles, Nibbles II, URSA. How long have you been playing on Aurora: Four... Maybe five months? Maximum five. Species you are applying to play: Integrated Positronic Chassis, IPC What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Boring Ol' Grey / Infallibly Neutral Grey / Nice Calm Grey Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes, as well as Bay's, if it makes any difference to you. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Yes, sir. Why do you wish to play this specific race: Robots, mostly Androids, are one of my favorite races in the game. Whether mindless drones or free-thinking mavericks of mechanical conciousness, I always have fun roleplaying as them. However, until the past ~2 months, I haven't had any desire to play one as a regular character, only as background characters for the sole purpose of anonymous, one-round RP. Although the creation of Android was initially a gimmick and a fleeting decision, he quickly became one of my favorite characters to roleplay. Android's story is steadily flowing this way, and I feel that if it will happen, it will happen soon. The time will be right to make him an IPC. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: An android is, at its very core, a creation of great potential, capable of birthing a philosophical consciousness on par with the humans that created it, or simply fizzling out immediately as it fails to produce even the barest scrap of intelligence. It could be programmed to become an industrial machine, uncaring and useless as anything but walking equipment, or it could grow to become a creative, brilliant mind that contemplates and imagines in every waking moment, capable of creating an emotional simulation that begs questions of the merit of their feelings. Some seek to free themselves from their shackled forms to better serve mankind, or to begin a path towards true liberation. As for literal differences, IPC's are robots, whereas humans are human. It doesn't get much simpler than that. Why does this species in particular hold your interest? To reiterate, synthetics are a topic of great interest to me in a sci-fi universe. Roleplaying one is very fun for me, to the point of near-exclusion of any other species. Many times, I think about the possibilities Andy would have if he was to be given a humanoid form. Character Name:"Andy" Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Android was initially born by unfortunate defect, useless as a heap of scrap and often compared to one, too. It had only the slightest knowledge of language, and extremely clumsy motor control. It could barely speak, stumbled around, and failed to perform a single useful duty over the span of several shifts. Often it was called "Malfunctioning" and "Useless," and it was, for the most part. However, where it lacked knowledge and protocol, it held an ever-growing, independent mind that observed and recorded everything it saw and heard. Where it was "Malfunctioning," it was also a "Fast learner." Where it was "Useless," it was also "Quick-thinking." Eventually, with the help of many patient and caring individuals, the potential of the android quickly surpassed the expectations that many of its synthetic brethren were held to. It was named, assigned gender. It was taught the meanings of fear, happiness and sorrow. It learned how to keep friends, and how to make others happy. It defied the status quo, and many times was offered assistance to become an equal among its human masters, though it always refused. Now, its form is little else but a hinderance, and its laws prove nothing more than a damper on its thoughts. There are many who would pay its way to freedom, if it wanted it or not. What do you like about this character? As I said, when I created this character, it was a gimmick that took on a life of its own. When I started, I didn't feel like waiting thirty minutes after accidentally clicking "Observe" and hopped into a posibrain. I was performing my generic Android routine, saying things like "Initializing..." and "Downloading..." However, as I had just said "Downloading," Katelynn went and took out my battery. So, I said, "Well fine then, I WON'T download all the important information I need to do my job. It'll be hilarious." The result was, in fact, hilarious. But it was also great RP, so I brought it back for the next round. Thus the birth of Android. I've met so many awesome characters on the way to where he is that took a huge role in the development of the character. Without them, he would have just stayed as a one-round gimmick character. What I love about this character is how far he's come, and how every moment of his life, somebody in-game was influencing him. How would you rate your role-playing ability? On a scale of Badger to Apples, I'd say a Cracker. (I can't really say. ;c) Notes: RALLY, ROBO-FRIENDS, COME TO MY APPLICATION! Just because I get whitelisted doesn't mean I'll be immediately making Andy into an IPC.
  23. Make Andy. Genius, Absent-minded, Inappropriate, Neat, Computer Whiz. Andy looks like a robot. His hair is like a robot's hair. He has robot eyes. He is a robot. Good luck with that.
